Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 53: Cold and Domineering
"Laugh? To hell with that! Men, get him!"
Chen Jianhua was also taken aback by Lin Kuang’s glare, but he quickly composed himself. After all, he was the boss here, and his men were all armed. What was there to fear?
Upon hearing Chen Jianhua’s command, his five subordinates simultaneously drew their pistols, their muzzles aimed squarely at Lin Kuang.
Seeing this, the Witch turned pale with fright. She was usually quite unruly, but this was the first time she had witnessed such a scene. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t scared.
She was terrified, but Lin Kuang wasn’t scared in the slightest. In fact, he was faster than any of them.
The very moment they drew their guns, a pistol had already appeared in Lin Kuang’s right hand as if from nowhere.
The next moment, gunshots shattered the air.
"BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!"
Five successive shots rang out. Chen Jianhua’s five men were all shot in the wrist, and their five pistols clattered to the ground in unison.
This scene shocked everyone present. They stared at Lin Kuang, their faces ashen.
At that moment, Lin Kuang had already aimed his gun at Chen Jianhua’s head.
"Are you still laughing now?" Lin Kuang asked, his voice as cold as ice. His frosty tone, like that of a Demon King stepping out of Hell, sent a shiver down the spines of Chen Jianhua and his five men.
Chen Jianhua’s Adam’s apple bobbed frantically as his body trembled with fear. Even though he was the top dog around here, he was still terrified of a ruthless character like Lin Kuang.
At this point, how could Chen Jianhua dare to laugh? All he could do was smile bitterly to himself. If he had known Lin Kuang was such a tough nut to crack, he never would have dared to run his mouth.
"Friend, friend! Let’s sit down and talk. We can talk this over calmly," Chen Jianhua said hurriedly, no longer daring to act tough. Otherwise, from the look on Lin Kuang’s face, he might actually be killed.
"Good. A wise man knows when to yield," Lin Kuang said calmly. "Chen Jianhua, I’ll ask you, why did you kidnap Liu Shiyu? Who put you up to it?" He didn’t believe for a second that this was Chen Jianhua’s idea.
At his words, Chen Jianhua’s eyes flickered. "No one... No one. I’ve just been tight on cash recently, so I did it myself."
"Tell the truth, or I’ll blow your brains out!" As Lin Kuang spoke, he applied slight pressure to his trigger finger.
Seeing this, Chen Jianhua was so scared he collapsed to the floor, his forehead breaking out in beads of sweat.
"Don’t, don’t, please don’t shoot! I’ll talk! I’ll talk! It... it was Young Master Han! Han Fei told me to do it!" Chen Jianhua blurted out.
At that moment, he would much rather offend Han Fei than Lin Kuang, because offending Lin Kuang was a death sentence.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang’s heart stirred. He had originally assumed the Eagle Sect was behind this, only to find out it was that bastard Han Fei.
"If you dare lie to me, you know the consequences," Lin Kuang said, pressing for confirmation.
"No, no, no, I wouldn’t dare! I would never dare to lie to you! Han Fei really did make me do it! If I’m lying, may I die a horrible death and may my sons be born without assholes!" Chen Jianhua swore repeatedly, his face turning pale with desperation.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang finally believed him.
"Good. Chen Jianhua, consider this a lesson. If there’s a next time, I’ll kill you with a single shot!" With that, he fired his gun anyway, shooting Chen Jianhua in the shoulder.
Chen Jianhua was in so much pain he was on the verge of tears, but he didn’t dare let out a single sound.
"Do you know where Han Fei is?" Lin Kuang asked indifferently as he holstered his pistol.
"He... he’s recovering at East Sea City Hospital. He hasn’t been discharged yet," Chen Jianhua stuttered, a bitter taste in his mouth. If he’d known this would be the outcome, he wouldn’t have dared to touch Liu Shiyu even if he had eight times the nerve. Now, he was drowning in regret.
"Very well. Remember to be more honest next time."
With that, Lin Kuang turned and left.
The pale-faced Witch followed closely behind him.
Looking at the not-so-imposing figure before her, a powerful sense of security washed over her. It felt as if being with Lin Kuang was completely safe, as if there was nothing to worry about.
Pfft, Liu Shiyu, what am I thinking? This guy is a total jerk! Last night, he almost... Ugh, anyway, he’s just a huge jerk, a complete scoundrel! the Witch silently admonished herself.
"You should go back to school," Lin Kuang said, turning around as they exited the bar.
Liu Shiyu, who was just mentally listing all of Lin Kuang’s flaws, jumped at his sudden words.
"Wh-what did you say?" the Witch asked, her cheeks flushing.
"I said, you should go back to school. I still have some things to do," Lin Kuang said, unable to stop a small smile at her cute expression.
"I’m not going back! I want to go with you! What if someone tries to get me when I’m back at school?" the Witch said stubbornly. In truth, she wasn’t really afraid; she just wanted to go with Lin Kuang because the feeling was just too exciting.
"It’s not like we’re going somewhere fun. Why do you want to tag along?" Lin Kuang said, rolling his eyes.
"I don’t care, I’m going! So, are you taking me or not?!" the Witch demanded, staring at Lin Kuang with her large eyes.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang could only nod helplessly. "Alright, I’ll take you. But you have to stay right behind me. No talking, and no running off."
"I know, you’re such a fusspot. I’m not a three-year-old," the Witch said with some annoyance before getting in the car.
Lin Kuang shook his head with a sense of resignation, then got into the driver’s seat and headed straight for East Sea City Hospital.
With the Witch acting as his human GPS, Lin Kuang didn’t have to bother with his phone’s navigation. He would have been completely lost otherwise, since he’d never been to the hospital before.
Under the Witch’s guidance, it took them half an hour to reach East Sea City Hospital.
"Let’s go," Lin Kuang said with a smile, glancing at the Witch beside him.
"I know!" she huffed, shooting him a look before getting out of the car.
Lin Kuang felt a wave of frustration. I didn’t do anything to provoke her, did I? Where is all this attitude coming from?
Shaking his head, he got out of the car and led the Witch into the hospital.
The two approached the registration desk. Smiling at the pretty young nurse, Lin Kuang asked, "Hello, could you please tell me which ward Han Fei is in?"
The young nurse’s face couldn’t help but turn red when she saw Lin Kuang’s sunny smile, especially his deep, captivating eyes that seemed to pull her in. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Watching Lin Kuang in action, the Witch grumbled to herself. Hmph. Such a player, a total pretty boy. Still, I have to admit, the jerk is infuriatingly handsome when he smiles.
It took the young nurse a moment to snap out of it. "Oh, ah, sir, please wait a moment while I check for you," she said, her face blushing.
"No problem, take your time," Lin Kuang replied.
"Sir, I’ve found it," the nurse said a moment later. "Mr. Han Fei is in Room 608 on the sixth floor."
