Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 381 Scared to the Ground
It was nearly eleven o'clock at night when Lin Kuang's cell phone finally rang. The call was from Ye Tiannan.
Lin Kuang quickly answered. After the two agreed on a meeting place, he said his goodbyes to Yang Ruotong.
"Be careful," Yang Ruotong said, her face full of concern as she watched him prepare to leave.
"Yeah, I know. See you tomorrow, Sister Ruotong." With that, Lin Kuang turned and planted a firm kiss on her red lips before departing.
Watching Lin Kuang's retreating figure, Yang Ruotong's beautiful eyes held an indescribable infatuation. This man had thoroughly captured her heart.
Lin Kuang drove for over an hour before finally reaching the designated meeting spot Ye Tiannan had arranged. It was neither a hotel nor a luxurious villa, but an ordinary residence in the suburbs. Upon arrival, Lin Kuang carefully scanned the area, then knocked on the front door.
The sound startled Ye Tiannan, who hurried out to open it. Seeing Lin Kuang, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Mr. Lin, thank you for coming."
"You're welcome. Let's talk inside," Lin Kuang said coolly, stepping through the gate.
Ye Tiannan hastily closed the door and followed Lin Kuang into the house. Inside, a man in his fifties was waiting by the door. When he saw Lin Kuang, he smiled. "Mr. Lin, thank you for coming. I'm Ye Tiannan's father, Ye Rong."
Looking at Lin Kuang, Ye Rong extended his hand with a cheerful smile.
A smile appeared on Lin Kuang's face as well, and he reached out to shake Ye Rong's hand. "Mr. Ye, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure is all mine, Mr. Lin. Please, have a seat," Ye Rong said with a smile after they released their hands.
Lin Kuang didn't stand on ceremony and took a seat opposite Ye Rong.
"Tiannan, go stand watch outside. Don't come in without my permission," Ye Rong said, glancing at his son. His tone carried a father's authority.
"Dad, I should know about these things, too! I'm your son, and I'm an adult now. There are some burdens I need to share with you!" Ye Tiannan said stubbornly, meeting his father's authoritative gaze.
Ye Rong was taken aback. He was used to Ye Tiannan's immediate compliance, but tonight, his son had defied him. After a moment of surprise, he gave a wry smile. This kid has really grown up.
"Alright. You can sit here and listen, too." Looking at Ye Tiannan, Ye Rong's voice became much gentler, and his gaze softened.
"Yes, Dad," Ye Tiannan said, a hint of excitement in his voice. He sat down on a nearby chair and waited quietly.
"Mr. Lin, I'll say it again: thank you for coming and thank you for your help," Ye Rong said to Lin Kuang with great earnestness. "Tiannan must have told you that if you can help us with this matter, I will pledge my allegiance and become your subordinate."
Hearing this, Lin Kuang smiled and nodded. "To be honest, Mr. Ye, you joining me isn't as important as you think. The Energy I possess is beyond your imagination, and I have no need to boast about it. Furthermore, Ye Tiannan should have already told you why I'm helping. I want to take down Tong Lin. I am a soldier. As for helping you, it's merely a matter of convenience. From your son's story, I gathered that you are not beyond redemption, which is the only reason I'm helping you. Otherwise, the person sitting here right now might very well be your corpse."
Looking at Ye Rong, Lin Kuang spoke with a faint smile, his tone showing no deference whatsoever.
At his words, Ye Rong's expression turned ugly. He was a mayor, after all. Who dared to speak to him like that? However, after a moment's thought, he held his tongue. He was in no position to argue. But as for Lin Kuang's claim that a mayor was useless to him, Ye Rong found that hard to believe.
Seeing Ye Rong's expression, Lin Kuang let out a cold laugh. This old fox… if I don't intimidate him properly, he'll likely try to play games with me.
"Mr. Ye, do you think I'm boasting?" Lin Kuang sneered.
"Er, no, not at all, Mr. Lin. You're joking," Ye Rong replied, looking embarrassed, as if his thoughts had been laid bare.
Seeing this, Ye Tiannan's expression immediately darkened. He knew full well that when dealing with someone like Lin Kuang, sincerity was everything. For my own father to speak to him like this… isn't he just asking for trouble?
At that thought, Ye Tiannan hastily stood up and bowed deeply to Lin Kuang, his tone extremely sincere. "Mr. Lin, I'm sorry. I apologize on my father's behalf. Please, don't take offense."
At this scene, Ye Rong's expression shifted, showing a hint of displeasure. He was still clinging to his status.
Lin Kuang, however, just smiled at Ye Tiannan. I have to admit, this Ye Tiannan is smarter than his father. He handles things very smoothly.
Thinking this, Lin Kuang nodded, then turned his gaze back to Ye Rong. "Mr. Ye, you really should learn from your son. If you had been the one to show up last night instead of him, I might have actually killed you!"
As he spoke, killing intent flared in Lin Kuang's eyes, and the icy aura enveloped Ye Rong completely. His body stiffened instantly, and a deep fear showed in his eyes.
Lin Kuang continued in that same light tone, "Mr. Ye, perhaps you think your status is very high. Perhaps in your eyes, my identity is completely insignificant compared to yours. If that's what you really think, then you are gravely mistaken."
He leaned forward, his voice dropping but losing none of its intensity. "Do you think the Lin Family of Yanjing gives a damn about your status? Do you think the grandson of Old Master Lin of Yanjing really needs to care about your status?!"
Lin Kuang's fingers tapped lightly on the wooden tabletop, his voice carrying an overpowering rhythm that completely suppressed Ye Rong.
Hearing Lin Kuang's initial words, Ye Rong had felt a bit of disdain. But his composure shattered the moment Lin Kuang mentioned the Lin Family of Yanjing, and then revealed he was the grandson of Old Master Lin himself. Ye Rong's legs gave out, his vision went dark, and he collapsed to the ground in sheer terror.
My mouth feels parched. His heart was filled with overwhelming fear and shock. Compared to the Lin Family, I'm an insignificant speck. The gap between us is just too vast! And Lin Kuang is the grandson of Old Master Lin of Yanjing! My God, with that kind of status, does he need to care about me? Does he need to give me face? Not at all! He's a figure so high above me that I can only kneel and grovel!
