Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 211 Dare to Fight
Upon seeing the young man, Lin Kuang’s gaze narrowed. A faint sense of crisis arose within him; it was clear this man was an expert.
This young man was none other than Gu Yue, Dark Blood’s top assassin and the number one assassin in the country.
After arriving in East Sea, Gu Yue had sent his men to find Lin Kuang. Once he learned of Lin Kuang’s location, he rushed over, which led to this coincidental encounter.
The Witch, who had been waiting for Lin Kuang to speak, was startled to see such a grave expression on his face. She followed his line of sight and saw Gu Yue standing ahead.
Lin Kuang stopped the car two meters in front of Gu Yue. He glanced at the Witch. "Wait for me in the car," he said flatly, and then got out.
Sensing the change in the atmosphere, the Witch wisely stayed put, sitting quietly in the passenger seat without saying a word.
Lin Kuang got out of the car and walked toward Gu Yue, stopping a meter away. As his gaze fell upon the other man, the two sized each other up, both sensing the other’s power.
"A man from Dark Blood?" Lin Kuang asked flatly after studying Gu Yue for a moment.
"That’s right. Hello, King of the Underworld. I’ve long heard tales of your legend, and now I finally get to see you in person," said Gu Yue, a smile gracing his pale face.
Hearing Gu Yue use the title ’King of the Underworld’ didn’t change Lin Kuang’s calm expression. He was well aware of Dark Blood’s capabilities and wasn’t surprised they had managed to uncover his identity. In fact, if Dark Blood still didn’t know who he was by now, Lin Kuang would have actually been a little disappointed.
"Those are just exaggerated rumors. I have no legend to speak of," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "Within Dark Blood, aside from the six elders, the only one with such formidable strength must be Beheader Gu Yue, right?"
Beheader Gu Yue. As the name implied, whenever Gu Yue made a move, he would invariably take his target’s head. It was a fittingly intimidating title.
Gu Yue’s pale face showed no surprise. "That’s right, I am Gu Yue," he admitted with a smile. It was only normal that the King of the Underworld would be able to guess his identity.
"Since even you’ve shown up, does that mean the six elders of Dark Blood are prepared to fight me to the death?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile, looking at Gu Yue.
"That’s right," Gu Yue replied with a shrug. "After all, you destroyed Dark Blood’s East Sea branch. People in our line of work value one thing above all else: credibility. If you were to live, it would have a major impact on Dark Blood’s reputation."
Gu Yue spoke frankly, hiding nothing from Lin Kuang. Their conversation was surprisingly light and casual, almost as if they were old friends catching up after many years. The entire exchange had a very strange atmosphere.
"Is that so? I suspect there’s more to it," Lin Kuang said with a laugh. "You also want to take this opportunity to eliminate me and use my death to establish your authority, further elevating Dark Blood’s standing. Isn’t that right?"
This was no idle boast. Internationally, the name ’King of the Underworld’ was enough to strike fear into anyone’s heart. Such was his renown.
Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Gu Yue gave a noncommittal nod. "I suppose so. The six elders might be thinking along those lines."
"Those six old geezers really don’t cherish their long lives, do they? Tsk, tsk," Lin Kuang said, his tone bordering on arrogant. "But what’s the meaning of sending you? Do they think you can kill me? Or are you just here to test my strength?"
In his own mind, however, he wasn’t being arrogant at all. He was the King of the Underworld, and more than that, he was Lin Kuang!
Gu Yue gave him a somewhat helpless look. "The King of the Underworld is the King of the Underworld, after all. That’s a level of confidence most people could never possess," he said, his expression turning playful. "But are you truly so confident that you have me beaten?"
Lin Kuang nodded matter-of-factly. "That’s right. You are no match for me," he stated, his voice flat. His domineering words were laced with an undisguised arrogance—this was the real Lin Kuang.
Gu Yue didn’t respond right away, simply staring at Lin Kuang in silence. Lin Kuang, in turn, didn’t press him and calmly met his gaze. Nearly five minutes passed before Gu Yue finally broke into a slight smile.
"You’re truly worthy of being the King of the Underworld. I like you. I enjoy fighting powerful opponents like yourself! Tonight at nine, there’s a man-made forest on the outskirts of the city. I’ll be waiting for you there. King of the Underworld, do you dare to fight?!"
As he spoke the last words, Gu Yue’s expression turned solemn, and a powerful fighting spirit radiated from his body.
Lin Kuang chuckled, a hint of admiration in his eyes. "They say Gu Yue is a strange one. An assassin who never takes the conventional path. Instead of trying to assassinate me, you’ve challenged me to a direct fight. Not bad. You’re quite a character." Despite them being adversaries, Lin Kuang found himself liking Gu Yue’s personality.
Hearing Lin Kuang’s praise, Gu Yue was noncommittal. "Against anyone else, I wouldn’t be interested in a duel. But you’re different. You are the King of the Underworld. Assassinating you successfully would bring no sense of accomplishment. Defeating you head-on—that is my goal."
Gu Yue’s gaze burned with fervor as he spoke. He knew Lin Kuang was strong, but he believed himself to be no less powerful. Besides, an opponent like Lin Kuang was a rare find, which was why Gu Yue wanted a head-on duel. While this approach seemed unwise, not everything a person does is meant to be wise, is it?
Lin Kuang nodded. "Fine. Nine o’clock tonight. I’ll be there on time for our fight," he replied, his tone remaining perfectly calm.
Hearing Lin Kuang’s answer, Gu Yue nodded with a smile, his objective achieved.
"Good. I’ll be waiting there. See you tonight."
With that, Gu Yue smiled at Lin Kuang, then turned, got into a black Audi, and drove away. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Watching Gu Yue leave, a smile touched Lin Kuang’s lips. "It seems it’s time for some exercise. He’s a worthy opponent," he muttered to himself before turning and getting back into his Mercedes.
Lin Kuang and Gu Yue hadn’t tried to conceal their conversation, and the Witch, who had been intentionally eavesdropping, heard every word clearly. Her heart filled with worry when she heard Lin Kuang accept Gu Yue’s challenge.
"Are you really going?" the Witch couldn’t help but ask, looking at Lin Kuang beside her.
