Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Asking for Trouble

Hearing this, Yang Ruoxi nodded and smiled at Lin Kuang. "Alright, I’ll give you that. You do have a conscience."

With that, Yang Ruoxi returned to the car and brought out several more bags, evidently the spoils of her shopping spree.

The three of them entered the hall just as Yang Ruotong was coming downstairs. Her face was slightly flushed as if she were overheated, something that wouldn’t be noticed without close attention.

Actually, she was feeling quite nervous inside, like someone who’d just been caught in bed with a lover, and she felt mortified. However, she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that neither Yang Ruoxi nor Xinxin had noticed anything.

"Why did you guys buy so much stuff?" Yang Ruotong asked with a smile.

"There wasn’t much else to do, so I took Xinxin out to play for a bit and then we went shopping," Yang Ruoxi said with a beaming smile as she looked at her sister. "Besides, it’s been so long since I bought clothes, it was about time. I got a few things for you, too."

"You and your shopping," Yang Ruotong said, taking the bags from Yang Ruoxi and placing them on the sofa. "Honestly. Come on, sit down and rest."

Yang Ruoxi, who also seemed a bit tired, sat on the sofa and drank some water.

"Have you guys eaten yet?" Yang Ruotong asked, smiling at Yang Ruoxi.

"We had lunch, but we haven’t had dinner yet," Yang Ruoxi replied with a smile.

"Alright then, it’s already past four o’clock. I’ll go start cooking," Yang Ruotong said cheerfully. "Lin Kuang, don’t you leave either. Just eat here with us."

Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded with a smile. "Scoring a free meal is my favorite thing to do."

"Uncle is so thick-skinned," Xinxin, who was still in Lin Kuang’s arms, teased happily.

"Xinxin’s right. He really is shameless," Yang Ruoxi chimed in, landing another blow.

Lin Kuang couldn’t help but roll his eyes. "Is it really that thick? I think it’s fine."

"Hmph, that’s what all shameless people say. They always think they’re fine," Yang Ruoxi huffed.

Lin Kuang was left speechless at her words, which made Xinxin chuckle.

At this point, Yang Ruotong went to the kitchen to cook, leaving Lin Kuang to chat with Yang Ruoxi and Xinxin.

"Ruoxi, let’s go upstairs," Lin Kuang suggested with a laugh after a moment of thought. "I’ll transfer some True Qi to you. By the time we’re done, Ruotong will probably have finished cooking."

Yang Ruoxi nodded, and the two went upstairs, leaving Xinxin to play by herself in the hall.

Once they were upstairs, Lin Kuang began transferring True Qi to Yang Ruoxi. Half an hour later, they finally finished.

"Ruoxi, I think you’ve become even more beautiful," Lin Kuang remarked, looking for something to say as he gazed at her lovely face.

"Of course," Yang Ruoxi shot him a sidelong glance before huffing. "I’ve always been this beautiful. You’re just now noticing."

"Uh, I was just saying. Don’t take it to heart," Lin Kuang said awkwardly.

Hearing that, Yang Ruoxi’s pretty face flushed, and she glared at him fiercely. "You really are a jerk!" she said irritably, which only made Lin Kuang burst out laughing.

After they had chatted for a while, Xinxin ran upstairs to call them down for dinner. Lin Kuang and Yang Ruoxi nodded and went downstairs to eat.

At the dinner table, Yang Ruotong barely dared to look at Lin Kuang, terrified she would give herself away. Lin Kuang, on the other hand, would occasionally wink at her, earning him a sharp glare in return.

After dinner, Lin Kuang stayed and chatted for a while longer before finally leaving for the Liu family’s home shortly after six o’clock.

When Lin Kuang got back, Liu Shilin and the little Witch hadn’t returned yet. After a moment’s thought, he gave Liu Shilin a call.

Liu Shilin answered her phone almost immediately. "Hello, Lin Kuang."

"Shilin, where are you two? You’re not back yet?" Lin Kuang asked, curious.

"Ah, you’re back? Shiyu and I are out having dinner. We didn’t think you’d be coming home," Liu Shilin said, sounding slightly awkward. She had assumed Lin Kuang had gone to the Eagle Sect and would inevitably be caught up in social obligations, so she hadn’t called. From the sound of it, he was already back.

"Yeah, I’m back. Don’t worry about it, you two go ahead and eat. I’ve eaten already. I just called to check since I saw you weren’t home," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.

"Oh, I see. In that case, just wait for us at home. Shiyu and I are almost done. We should be home in about an hour," Liu Shilin said with a laugh.

"Okay, sounds good. You two enjoy your meal. I’ll just wait here," Lin Kuang said cheerfully, and then they hung up.

Feeling bored, Lin Kuang watched some TV in his room but quickly lost interest. He decided to take a stroll around the manor grounds since he had nothing better to do.

Liu Shilin had said they would be back in an hour, but they returned in less than that, pulling up in a brand-new Mercedes. It was clearly a new purchase; the old, severely damaged car had presumably been sold off.

"You’re finally back! I was so bored here all by myself," Lin Kuang complained playfully upon seeing them return.

"Tsk, tsk. You can get bored? How surprising," the little Witch said with a smirk.

"I’m human too, you know. Why can’t I get bored?" Lin Kuang replied gloomily.

"Oh, you’re human? I thought you weren’t. My apologies," the little Witch said, her smirk widening.

"What’s gotten into you? Did you eat gunpowder for dinner or something? Why are you so prickly?" Lin Kuang asked, genuinely curious.

"Yeah, right! You’re the one who ate gunpowder!" the little Witch retorted, giving him a glare.

"Alright, you two, stop bickering the moment you see each other," Liu Shilin said as she got out of the car. She sounded a bit helpless. "It’s like you two are natural enemies, destined to argue whenever you meet. Let’s go inside and talk."

Hearing Liu Shilin, they both fell silent and followed her into the room, where they continued to glare at each other.

"Oh! Sis, we haven’t brought our shopping in yet," the little Witch suddenly exclaimed, shooting a look at Lin Kuang. "Jerk, come with me and get the clothes."

"Why should I go?" Lin Kuang grumbled.

"Because several items were bought for you. If you don’t want them, then you don’t have to come," the little Witch huffed, turning and walking away with a sway of her curvy hips.

At this, Lin Kuang was speechless but followed her out of the hall to the car anyway. He opened the door and took a look. Good lord, the back seat was filled with at least twenty shopping bags, all apparently from the sisters’ spree. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"You bought this much?" Lin Kuang asked in astonishment.

"You bet. We’re exhausted," the little Witch huffed.

"Then why buy so much? Aren’t you just torturing yourselves?" Lin Kuang asked, confused. Sometimes, he really couldn’t understand how the minds of those two girls worked.
