Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 154: Do Me a Favor
Huang Zelun never expected Lin Kuang to dodge, much less that his counterattack would be so vicious.
In reality, Lin Kuang had held back. Otherwise, that one kick would have killed him on the spot. How could he possibly still be alive? Lin Kuang had simply taught the dandy a small lesson. Even so, it was more than Huang Zelun could bear. After all, he was just an ordinary person. He felt as if his body was about to fall apart; there wasn’t a single spot that didn’t ache. His glare toward Lin Kuang was filled with venomous resentment, but it was overshadowed by an even greater fear.
Though a dandy, Huang Zelun was no fool. Since Lin Kuang dared to confront him in front of so many people, it was obvious that Lin Kuang wasn’t afraid of him. Realizing this, Huang Zelun knew what he had to do. If I keep provoking Lin Kuang, I’ll only be humiliating myself!
With that thought, he shot Lin Kuang a vicious glare. "Fine. Just you wait, kid. This isn’t over!" To save face, Huang Zelun deliberately spat out a threat before turning to get into his car.
"Wait. Did I say you could leave?"
At that moment, Lin Kuang turned and spoke coolly.
Huang Zelun’s face flushed with anger. "You... what do you want? Don’t push your luck!" It was the first time he had ever been humbled so harshly. He had wanted to make a quiet retreat and plan his revenge for later, but this Lin Kuang wouldn’t even let him go.
"Nothing much. Apologize for what you just said. To those two ladies," Lin Kuang stated, his gaze resting calmly on Huang Zelun.
For some unknown reason, facing Lin Kuang’s tranquil gaze, an undeniable fear rose from the depths of Huang Zelun’s heart. It was as if the man before him was a man-eating beast, terrifying to behold. But with so many people watching, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. It wasn’t that he was unwilling to apologize; he was terrified of losing face. For a dandy like him, face was everything. He had already been humiliated and beaten. If he apologized now, how could he ever show his face in public again? For a moment, Huang Zelun was at a loss, his expression a mixture of hesitation and resentment.
Lin Kuang remained silent, simply watching him quietly.
Just as the two were locked in a stalemate, a black Audi suddenly pulled up. A man and a woman stepped out of the car. Seeing the newcomers, the crowd instinctively parted to make way, because they were none other than Chu Zhongtian and Han Qiaoqiao. Chu Zhongtian was also on his way to Lin Guo’er and Zhao Shunyang’s engagement ceremony. He happened to spot Lin Kuang and Huang Zelun as he drove by and decided to see what was happening.
"Mr. Lin, Brother Huang, what seems to be the matter?" Chu Zhongtian asked with a smile as he approached them.
"Young Master Chu," Huang Zelun greeted respectfully. Although the Huang Family was influential in East Sea, they were commoners, while Chu Zhongtian was an official. Facing him, Huang Zelun didn’t dare act arrogantly—it was common sense not to pick a fight with an official.
"Mr. Chu, what a coincidence," Lin Kuang said with a faint smile, his tone flippant and lacking any respect.
Chu Zhongtian didn’t seem to mind, but the onlookers were stunned. They all knew who Chu Zhongtian was. For Lin Kuang to address him so casually, without a shred of reverence, made everyone intensely curious about his background.
"Yes, Mr. Lin, it is a coincidence. What happened here?" Chu Zhongtian asked again with a small smile.
In response, Lin Kuang gestured toward Huang Zelun. "You’ll have to ask this young man here."
"Oh? Brother Huang, what’s this about?" Chu Zhongtian asked, turning to Huang Zelun with a curious expression.
Seeing this, Huang Zelun dared not hide anything and recounted the recent events.
Chu Zhongtian laughed inwardly. He was amused by Huang Zelun’s audacity in picking a fight he couldn’t win and by Lin Kuang’s blatant arrogance. Perfect. This way, Lin Kuang would naturally gain another enemy. And the enemy of my enemy is my friend—besides, his relationship with Huang Zelun was decent enough.
"So that’s how it is," Chu Zhongtian said with a smile, looking at Lin Kuang. "Mr. Lin, Zelun here can be hot-headed. How about you do me a favor and let this matter drop?"
Lin Kuang smiled faintly. He knew exactly what Chu Zhongtian was up to, but he didn’t care. "Alright. Since Mr. Chu himself has spoken, I have to show you that respect. But he’d better not let there be a next time."
With that, Lin Kuang glanced briefly at Chu Zhongtian before leaving with Liu Shilin and the Witch. He didn’t want to fall out with Chu Zhongtian completely—not yet. As for making an enemy of someone like Huang Zelun, he truly couldn’t be bothered.
As he watched Lin Kuang walk away, the smile vanished from Chu Zhongtian’s eyes, replaced by a much darker expression.
"Brother Huang, it’s over now. Go home and get some rest," Chu Zhongtian said coolly, glancing at him.
Hearing this, Huang Zelun nodded quickly. "Young Master Chu, thank you for your help. If you ever need your little brother for anything, just say the word."
"Come on, no need to be so formal. I’m heading in. You should go home and rest. You can’t attend the ceremony looking like that anyway," Chu Zhongtian said with a smile before leaving with Han Qiaoqiao. That last remark was a deliberate barb meant to deepen Huang Zelun’s hatred for Lin Kuang.
And it worked. Huang Zelun’s face turned incredibly ugly.
That son of a bitch, Lin! Just you wait! This isn’t over! I’ll get you back for this sooner or later! he thought viciously as he got in his car and drove off. After all, in his current state, he couldn’t possibly attend the engagement ceremony. He would only be humiliating himself further.
With Lin Kuang and Huang Zelun, the main parties, gone, the onlookers also scattered and headed toward the manor up ahead.
"You bastard, that was brilliant!" the Witch exclaimed excitedly, walking beside Lin Kuang. This girl loved nothing more than stirring up trouble, and the way Huang Zelun had looked at her earlier had thoroughly disgusted her.
Hearing the Witch’s words, Liu Shilin shot her a sharp glare. "Shiyu, that’s enough!"
At that, the Witch stuck her tongue out but said no more.
"Lin Kuang, isn’t this getting out of hand? It’s obvious Chu Zhongtian used this as an excuse to win over Huang Zelun," Liu Shilin said with a worried tone.
