Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 141 Shadow Twins
Lin Kuang said nothing, just smiling as he watched the little Witch and letting her small fists pound harmlessly on his chest.
After hammering away for a good while, the little Witch was panting for breath. She flopped down on the edge of the bed, her sizable chest heaving up and down.
"Tired already?" Lin Kuang asked, smiling as he looked at her pretty face.
"Hmph! I can’t be bothered with you!" the little Witch huffed, a tempting flush coloring her delicate face.
"Then why did you come here? You still haven’t said," Lin Kuang asked, a little exasperated.
"I... I had something to do!" the little Witch said awkwardly.
"Well, what is it? Are you going to tell me or not?" Lin Kuang asked helplessly. You come here but won’t say why. How am I supposed to know what you want?
"I... I came to thank you. Th-thank you for saving me," the little Witch mumbled, her face beet red. Her voice was as soft as a mosquito’s buzz; if Lin Kuang’s hearing wasn’t so sharp, he wouldn’t have heard her at all.
"What... what did you say?" Lin Kuang asked, taken aback. He thought he must have misheard. The normally arrogant little Witch had actually come to thank him. That didn’t make any sense!
The little Witch seemed to realize her voice was too soft. She mustered her courage and stood up.
"I said, thank you for saving me, you bastard!"
After spitting out the words, she shot Lin Kuang a fierce glare before turning and bolting out the door.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang smiled faintly. "That girl..." Shaking his head, he prepared to get some rest.
As he tried to rest, however, a sense of unease washed over him, a premonition that something was about to happen. The feeling made him irritable.
Is something going to happen? he muttered to himself while sitting on the bed.
After a moment’s thought, Lin Kuang abandoned the idea of sleeping. He sat cross-legged on the bed and began to meditate, pushing his senses to their absolute Peak.
Time trickled by. After eleven o’clock, the feeling in his heart intensified.
At the stroke of midnight, two faint whooshes cut through the air. Lin Kuang, who had been meditating on the bed, sprang to his feet, threw on a tracksuit, and dashed out of the room.
At that same moment, two shadowy figures appeared before the living room door. Just as they were about to enter, they saw Lin Kuang already waiting inside.
"Assassins... So you still dare to come for me!" Lin Kuang said coldly, knowing the two men would hear him.
Seeing Lin Kuang’s sudden appearance, the two Assassins froze for a second before stepping into the living room.
These two were known as the Dark Star Twins. On the domestic Killer List, their combined strength was enough to place them in the top ten. Even those in the top five were reluctant to face them, as they were notoriously difficult to deal with.
"The people from Dark Blood are as tenacious as mangy dogs. Tsk, tsk. That last guy died, and now you show up? If I’m not mistaken, you must be the Dark Star Twins, right? Tsk, tsk. You two hold a pretty high rank on the domestic Killer List," Lin Kuang said with a smirk.
Lin Kuang was extremely well-informed about many things, especially well-known matters within the country. The Dark Blood assassin organization was a powerhouse domestically, and it even held a significant position on the world stage.
Hearing his words, the Dark Star Twins’ eyes flickered. They clearly hadn’t expected Lin Kuang to recognize them.
"So you’ve heard of our great name, the Dark Star Twins? Kid, since you know who we are, are you going to kill yourself, or do you want us brothers to do the dirty work?" the older of the twins said with a sinister sneer.
"Uh, did you two damage your brains on the way down from the roof? How can you say something so idiotic? You really have no idea what you’re up against," Lin Kuang said, annoyed. Do these guys really think I’m some clay doll they can just crush whenever they feel like it?
Hearing Lin Kuang’s retort, the Dark Star Twins were momentarily stunned. On all their previous missions, who hadn’t soiled themselves in terror at the mere mention of their name and dropped to their knees to beg for mercy? They were used to that kind of reaction. For Lin Kuang to not only talk back but also insult them was something that thoroughly displeased the Dark Star Twins.
"Tsk, tsk. You’re an arrogant one, kid. Soon, you’ll pay the price for that arrogance!" the older twin continued, his sinister voice grating on the ears.
"Morons, this isn’t a good place to fight. You want to kill me, right? Then follow me."
With that, Lin Kuang casually strolled past the two and out the front door.
The Dark Star Twins were stunned. They couldn’t believe he had just walked right past them. In all their missions, they had never encountered an opponent like this!
"Brother, be careful. This kid might be more than he seems," the older twin said, his tone turning grave.
"It’s fine. He’s just an arrogant fool. Let’s go, Brother. I’d like to see what tricks this kid has up his sleeve," the younger of the Dark Star Twins said with disdain.
With that, he strode forward to follow Lin Kuang. Seeing this, the older twin quickly followed.
The three of them rapidly left the estate, arriving back at the same patch of woods where Lin Kuang had killed Tian Wei.
"This is a nice spot. The last guy you sent was killed by me right here. I think it’ll make a fitting graveyard for you, too," Lin Kuang said with a smile, his hands clasped behind his back.
"Tsk, tsk. Kill us? You? Kid, are you out of your mind?" the younger twin sneered, his voice dripping with disdain.
"Why don’t you try and find out? Do I need to make empty boasts when facing you two?" Lin Kuang stated with absolute dominance.
But to the Dark Star Twins, his words sounded unbelievably arrogant and pretentious.
"Brother, let’s get him! This kid is too damn arrogant. We’ll slaughter him!" the younger twin said, his voice turning ice-cold.
The next moment, two daggers glinted in his hands. The older twin likewise brandished a pair of his own.
In an instant, they both lunged. Four gleaming daggers thrust frenziedly toward Lin Kuang’s body. The older twin attacked Lin Kuang’s head, neck, and chest—the upper body. Meanwhile, the younger twin targeted Lin Kuang’s abdomen, groin, and legs—the lower body!
Observing their teamwork, Lin Kuang’s eyes lit up. He had to admit, the Dark Star Twins’ coordination truly was something special. It was no wonder they had earned such an illustrious reputation in the Assassin World.
"Decent strength, just a bit slow," Lin Kuang said with a smile, his hands still behind his back.
In the next moment, his figure moved like a ghost, instantly evading their attacks. The daggers in the Dark Star Twins’ hands didn’t even graze his clothes!
At the sight of this, the expressions on both men changed. Lin Kuang’s speed had truly shocked them
