Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 125 Problem Woman
Lin Kuang walked into the warehouse and looked at the neatly arranged fabrics. He casually picked up a piece and examined it closely.
Only then did Chen Ruilian notice him, and her eyes sized him up. Her curious gaze was fixed on Lin Kuang, but she addressed Lin Guo’er. "Manager Lin, who is this?"
"This is Ms. Liu’s friend," Lin Guo’er said with a smile. "He’s here to help with the investigation."
"Oh, is that so," Chen Ruilian replied with a smile, her eyes shifting slightly. It was impossible to tell what she was thinking.
Turning around, Lin Kuang asked with a smile, "Manager Chen, do we have any tools here that can directly detect carcinogens?"
"Ah, yes, we do. Do you need to use them?" Chen Ruilian replied hastily.
"Yes, please prepare them for me. I need them right away," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
Hearing this, Chen Ruilian agreed and turned to make the preparations. Meanwhile, Lin Kuang took one piece of fabric from the top of a stack and another from the very bottom.
"Let’s go take a look," he said to Lin Guo’er with a smile.
The two went to the testing room, where Lin Kuang had Chen Ruilian test both samples. Just as he’d expected, the fabric from the top of the stack contained carcinogens, while the one from the bottom did not.
"So it really was deliberate," Lin Kuang said aloud.
Hearing his words, Chen Ruilian’s eyelids twitched noticeably, a tiny detail that did not escape Lin Kuang’s notice.
Hmm? Is there something off about this Chen Ruilian? he wondered, though his expression betrayed no suspicion.
"Manager Chen, is someone assigned to guard the workshop at night?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.
"Yes. Grandpa Lin watches over it every night," Chen Ruilian replied, also smiling.
"Oh? Is Grandpa Lin here now?" Lin Kuang asked again.
"Yes, he is. We called him over as soon as we detected the carcinogens. Do you want to see him?" Chen Ruilian asked with a smile.
"Yes, please ask Grandpa Lin to come over," Lin Kuang said.
Chen Ruilian nodded and left the lab.
A few minutes later, an old man in his late fifties, almost sixty, walked in. He seemed unaccustomed to such a scene; his expression was troubled and his eyes were filled with fear.
"This is Grandpa Lin," Chen Ruilian said with a smile.
"Grandpa Lin, while you’re guarding the workshop at night, have you noticed anyone coming in?" Lin Kuang asked in a kind voice.
"No, no! Boss, I swear, I really didn’t see anything, I really didn’t!" Grandpa Lin exclaimed, his eyes turning red with distress.
Lin Kuang gazed at Grandpa Lin for about five seconds before offering a slight smile. "Alright, Grandpa Lin, that’s all. You can go back to your work now."
"Th-thank you, boss," Grandpa Lin said before hurrying away.
"Guo’er, let’s go too. Manager Chen, we’ll be on our way," Lin Kuang said, pulling Lin Guo’er from the lab. They got in their car and drove off.
Watching them leave, Chen Ruilian breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought Lin Kuang might discover something, but in the end, he had found nothing.
"Lin Kuang, did you find something?" Lin Guo’er asked, frowning at his calm expression.
"Hmm, I think I’ve made some headway, but I’m not sure if my guess is right yet," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
"So what did you find?" Lin Guo’er asked irritably.
"This Chen Ruilian seems suspicious, but I can’t be certain. I’ll follow her tonight and see if anything turns up," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.
"You mean Chen Ruilian? No way. Sister Chen has worked here for several years. I can’t believe she would do something like that," Lin Guo’er said disbelievingly.
"That’s why I said I’m not certain," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "We’ll see tonight."
Hearing this, Lin Guo’er could only nod.
The two returned to the city, grabbed some fast food, and then headed back to the company. By the time they arrived, it was already past two in the afternoon.
"Guo’er, Lin Kuang, you’re back! Did you find anything?" Liu Shilin asked as soon as she saw them.
"Yes, we have a lead. Also, Jiahua and Honglin have both agreed to help us," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "Don’t worry, things will start looking up in the next couple of days. Is everything ready for your press conference?"
"My side is fine," Liu Shilin said with a grim expression. "It’s just that a few of the journalists seem to have been bought off."
"Don’t worry, that’s to be expected. It would be more suspicious if no one tried something like that," Lin Kuang said cheerfully, not at all surprised.
"For now, our distributors in other regions haven’t had a major reaction, but the ones here in East Sea are already in trouble. Major department stores are beginning to pull our lingerie from the shelves," Liu Shilin said, her voice filled with worry. "If this hits the newspapers, the news, and spreads online tomorrow, the blow to our company will be massive."
"It’s alright. You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain," Lin Kuang said, comforting her. "Hang in there. Once we get through this, I’m sure Yashi Company will become even stronger!"
Liu Shilin could only nod in response.
Just before closing time, Lin Kuang left the company. Liu Shilin didn’t ask any questions. Before leaving, he borrowed Duoduo’s black Mazda. He needed to tail Chen Ruilian, and Liu Shilin’s car was too conspicuous, while a taxi would be inconvenient.
He drove to the production workshop in the suburbs, parked behind a factory building, and waited quietly in the car. At four-thirty, the workers began to leave. Soon after, Chen Ruilian drove out of the workshop in a Honda Accord. Seeing this, Lin Kuang started his car and followed.
He trailed her all the way to her apartment complex. After she parked and went upstairs, Lin Kuang also parked his car to the side and quietly followed her up. He saw Chen Ruilian enter her apartment and quickened his pace.
Just as she was about to close the door, Lin Kuang’s hand shot out to stop it. He slipped inside and shut the door firmly behind him.
Seeing Lin Kuang enter, Chen Ruilian froze for a moment, then her expression turned grim.
"Sir, what are you doing?" she asked with a frown, a sense of unease pulsing through her.
"Nothing much," Lin Kuang said with a smile as he strode into the room, giving her no chance to object. "I just wanted to have a chat with Ms. Chen. I trust you have the time?"
A flash of anger crossed Chen Ruilian’s face.
