Unlimited Power 03: The Sinful Ruler-Chapter 347 The Same Path
In the next moment, the whole battlefield stopped when a massive and powerful noise echoed from the sky… it had been powerful to make even the ground below tremble for a short while. It seemed that someone finally approached to get rid of the barrier… but not many people there could think how many allies were still out there that decided not to participate in the battle.
"He is here, our main target," Hugo said and then jumped backward when Luke tried to split him in half. "As expected, that part of the system is fighting back…"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Luke asked.
"What are you hiding, Hugo?" Frederick stepped forward and asked. "You are also targeting Jake, and you are using this whole incident to lure him? Why? You aren't someone petty enough to hate someone that much… even considering those memories."
"You always believed in what I said… that is why you don't know anything," Hugo said. "Trust me now, Fred. This is our only option… we don't belong here, and we truly… died… once… I know you don't have to become that angry… I won't reveal anything else…"
Frederick, Luke, and Rose frowned when Hugo said… it seemed that at some point, his sentences changed to someone else. Not only that, his body got red, and his veins began to throb and became more visible… like he was about to explode… they could only think that someone was controlling him.
Hugo's words were also weird… Frederick didn't know when he was lying anymore, and everything he said seemed nonsensical, but they made sense considering his current actions to some extent. First, he said that their existence was unnatural and that they didn't have a place in that universe. After that, he said that his actions were to protect their species… After that, he said that they truly died… Hugo needed to sacrifice a part of the humans for them to be able to keep living since their previous home no longer existed.
"... Was everything an illusion?" Frederick asked with a shocked expression on his face. "Is someone playing with our lives?"
Frederick connected the dots, and the other two had a hard time believing in his conclusion… if that were true, that would explain why the other guild masters hated Jake so much. Still, that only put more questions in their heads… where the game truly started, and where their reality truly ended? They didn't know anymore…
"We need answers… who can offer us that?" Frederick asked.
"Surrender your armies. Give them the order to drop their weapons, and I will let you meet someone who can give you the answers that you want," Hugo replied.
That seemed too convenient to be true… but Frederick had a feeling that Hugo wasn't lying now… he wasn't telling the whole truth either. Once they know the truth, they will be forced to die, they might be given a reason for that, but they probably won't feel satisfied by it…
While Frederick was hesitating, he could hear the sound of grunts of pain and cries in the distance… it doesn't matter what he hears… he won't feel any justification for the deaths of thousands. All of a sudden, they heard another massive impact coming from the skies, and then an earthquake stopped the whole battlefield…
"I thought that it would a bit longer for him to break the barrier… but I guess I was wrong about him," Hugo said while looking to the sky. "As expected, he is the final piece that we need… his death will bring the protection that we need.
In the next moment, the sound of the barrier cracking echoed on the battlefield, and then a massive spaceship almost fell to the ground and smashed everyone around. People began to teleport away since they could use that feature of the system again.
"We are going to retreat for now. That thing must have weapons that can attack all of us at once…" Hugo said. "The final battle of humans against humans will be at the place of your decision. Make us return now."
As soon as he finished saying those words, Hugo disappeared, and then his allies began to be teleported away insanely fast. In any other situation, Frederick would have tried to stop him, but he was quite shocked to see a spaceship in the shape of a dragon. He wasn't the only one… all of a sudden, someone jumped from the ship, and even hidden in the darkness, Frederick could feel Jake's presence.
"What the hell… those bastards left just because I arrived a bit late for their party," Jake said.
Frederick had to check the wounded since he had better healing skills than most, and Rose went with him, but he told Luke to talk with Jake.
"Hey… it has been a while," Luke said while forcing a smile.
"Of all the people that I could have met…" Jake said and then sighed. "I really am quite unlucky." f𝔯𝒆𝚎𝚠𝑒𝚋𝓃૦νℯƖ.co𝘮
"It seems that you managed to get… a new toy since the last time we met," Luke threw away the mask and then said it. "I have some interesting things from Hugo. Do you mind confirming that?"
"Hugo? Ah, that bald guy that was the leader of the guild masters and that I killed before," Jake said. "Wait, was he bald, or am I thinking that he was someone else?"
"You said that you killed him… so what he said was true, those dreams were of our past life…" Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Yeah, what about it?" Jake asked.
"... Are you going to follow the same path as before?" Luke asked.
"I hate it when people answer questions with other questions, but I will play this game as well," Jake said. "Are you all going to pick a fight with me again? I don't really have interest in fights that I already won, but I will kill you if you point your sword at me."
