Chapter 368: Chapter 368: Two More Updates Coming Soon (3)

"Who knows about your mission to capture someone?"

Shangguan Rui was puzzled and thought carefully before shaking his head.

"Your Majesty, I only informed them right before they went to capture the person, and I have not spoken about it to anyone."

No one? Then who could it be? He had checked over and over again and was sure the matter hadn’t been leaked, so why did it happen like this? Could it be—

Shangguan Rui stood by quietly, watching the Emperor with unease in his heart.

"You may return for now and observe how things unfold."

"But, about Prince Mei..."

"Return. I will handle the remaining matters." The Emperor glanced at the pitiful Shangguan Rui. With such little courage, he was already so easily frightened.

Seeing that the Emperor’s mind was made up, Shangguan Rui did not speak further. He turned and left, quietly following the Palace Attendant out of the palace.

With his last breath, Zhang San stumbled his way to the gate of Prince Mei Residence.

"Who goes there? Don’t you know this is Prince Mei Residence? How dare you come here." The guard at the gate saw his bloodied state and watched him warily.

"I must see Prince Mei. I know who is planning to kidnap the Elder of Xuanyuan Mansion." Lacking the strength, Zhang San collapsed on the ground, speaking feebly.

The guard at the gate did not dare to dismiss him lightly. Leaving one person to watch him, the rest rushed into the mansion to report the situation.

Di An had just returned from delivering medicine to Tian Yi and was stopped by the gate guard, "Brother Di An, there’s a man in black outside claiming to know who is planning to kidnap the Elder of Xuanyuan Mansion."

Di An frowned and asked the person beside him, "Did he come by himself?"

"Yes, and he’s wounded. It seems like he’s exhaling more than he’s inhaling."

"Let’s go."

Di An crouched down and took a closer look at the man who had fainted. He then summoned someone to carry him back, and had him placed in an isolated room on the ground where the Mansion Physician could attend to his wounds first.

"Alright, you handle it." After hearing Di An’s report, Dugu Chen paused for a moment but did not lift his head as he continued with the work in his hands.

Feng Xuxu woke up in the late afternoon, only roused by her hunger. Had she not been hungry, she might have slept much longer.

"My lady, you’re awake. Are you hungry? Dinner is ready, and it’s all your favorite dishes." Dugu Chen looked at her with joy, happily coming forward to serve her eagerly.

Feng Xuxu couldn’t help but chuckle, her eyes curving into crescents. Even as a father, he was still so playful.

"My lady, what are you laughing at?"

"I like it." She glanced away and looked around but did not see the child.

Dugu Chen knew exactly who she was looking for, but he purposely didn’t mention it.

"Chen, where’s the child? Bring him here, I want to see him." She pushed at the person beside the bed, signaling for him to bring the child over.

He sighed. Now that there was a child, she didn’t care for the child’s father anymore. He was right in front of her, and she didn’t even glance at him. Pulling down her hand, he looked at her with an extremely pitiful gaze, full of grievance, "The children are fine. They’re asleep right now. You won’t even look at me. I have become so haggard."

Feng Xuxu blinked and stared intently at his face. Her gaze was very serious. Then she sighed heavily, pulled her hand away from his large palm, patted his head, and looked at him with pity. Shaking her head, she said, "Chen, don’t worry. Even if you get old, I’ll still want you. The children and I won’t despise you."

Dugu Chen’s face darkened, and he brushed the hand off his head, "Hmph, I’ve always been charming and handsome. How could I become old?"

"That’s not right, though. I clearly saw several wrinkles on your face," she said, her eyes fluttering, a clear expression that you are lying.
