Chapter 46: The Goldenhooped Rod. Heading to the safe zone!

[Golden hooped Rod of the Primordial Guardian.]

[Item: Weapon Type{Primordial}]

[Item Description: Once a pillar used by the Primordial Dragon King of a faraway Universe to calm his Universe’s seas, the Golden hooped Rod was stolen by the Primordial Guardian, Olephus, becoming his personal, trademark weapon capable of immense destruction.]

[Weapon’s True Name: R##u J###u B##g.]

[Divinity is required to utilize the full extent and powers of this weapon.]

And that’s the problem.

That singular word, ’divinity.’ I have no idea what that is.

I deactivated all-seeing eyes and gazed down at the ’rod.’

But still, that means it has potential?

If it belonged to Olephus, then it must be pretty powerful. Although I still like it as it is now.

I raised it.

It’s not too heavy, not too light. Strong, extremely durable and feels good when clenched. Perfect weapon for me.

I was right after all.

My class does involve hitting things with a steel pipe.

Well, Rod.

But...

I narrowed my eyes.

It doesn’t have any ’golden’ hoop. It’s just plain, like stainless steel.

I sighed, throwing it back into Ashgrove with the duffel bags.

I’ll find out more about it when I get this ’divinity,’ and maybe I’ll even discover the true name.

"That power of yours," Marcus’s voice suddenly streamed in, "It always amazes me."

I turned, staring at the burly, shirtless man in front of me. He stood with crossed arms beside Jericho.

"Me too. I’m jealous." Jerry declared with a chuckle.

I smirked, "Not my fault, one of you is a living light bulb and the other’s a walking contradiction."

"Pfft, yeah."

That lie I told them about my dream really came in handy. Perfect excuse.

The other day, they caught me with a new weapon and asked where it came from.

I just told them I could put my hand in a magical space by controlling the ’energy’ and that things were stored there by a nameless being, and that I could store things there too.

It was a hard lie, but seeing the current state of the world, they... well, they believed.

I wondered what it looked like to them, like I’m stretching my hand into nothing and bringing out something, or I’m throwing things in the air and they disappear.

Sounds cool, for real.

"Well, let’s go."

I nodded.

We headed back to the station. And along the way, I allocated my stat points.

|STR:14 > 22|

|AGI:14 > 20|

|END:13 > 19|

|VIT:12 > 18|

|STA:12 > 19|

|PER: 12 >19|

—Hum—

A low humming sound echoed in my body.

At this point, anytime I allocated my stats, my bones no longer cracked or shifted, and I no longer got that woozy feeling. Instead, my mana hummed within me, and my body became lighter.

On our way to the station, I glanced at the skills I got from the daily sign-in system.

First, the skill I got on the fourth day.

[All Adapting body|Active|{Epic}.]

At first, it was just a skill named ’monkey see, monkey do,’ ranked rare, but after the 10x multiplier, it became this.

[Description: A trait that the primordial guardian, Olephus, possessed. The ability to adapt to any situation, skills or ability.]

[Assimilate skill?]

I wonder why the system suddenly began asking me to assimilate skills.

Is it because they’re active skills, different from class skills?

Other times, I wasn’t asked to assimilate.

But Ashgrove is an active skill. Maybe it’s because it’s related to my body? Myself? The system wants to make sure I can choose whatever enters my body?

Makes sense. Even though Ashgrove is an active skill, it isn’t something innate or within me. And the class skills are well, class skills. One of them is even a conditional skill.

Then, for the skill I got on the fifth day.

[Skin of steel|Active|{Rare}]

Like the first, this one was once a mediocre skill called ’Hide.’

[Description: Using mana, your skin can become harder, making it difficult for weapons to pierce you.]

[Assimilate skill?]

I waved it off.

Nah, not now. Let them accumulate.

I got a feeling I’ll gain some kind of epiphany or enlightenment the moment I assimilate them all together.

I currently have just these two skills stockpiled. Yesterday and today’s sign-ins have been duds. Ten pairs of shoes yesterday and 10 scissors today. Haha.

"Snap out of it, Duz." Marcus’s voice streamed in.

"You gotta learn to stop zoning out, bud," Jerry said.

I blinked.

Oh, yeah.

I looked around us, staring at the familiar enclosed, sensory-assaulting room.

We’re here.

The station.

And at our corner, the three soldiers — now recovered — sat next to Katie and her mother, whom I’d spent a long time yesterday getting her to agree to come with us.

Yesterday, I discussed with the guys about bringing Katie and her mom. And after an hour or so of hard argument, they finally agreed.

There was no way I’d leave that girl to die here.

"Mr. Nameless!" Katie screamed as soon as her eyes met mine, and she smiled, running toward me with open arms.

I smiled.

"Ugh, ’Mr. Nameless," Jerry mimicked.

I glared at him.

The girl hugged me. And Marcus patted her head before walking with the duffel bags in his hands — something I gave him along the way — beside Jericho toward the already prepared soldiers.

It seemed they’d been waiting for us.

"We’ve been waiting for you," Katie beamed.

I smiled, "I know. We’re here now, ready to go."

"Y’all ready?!" Jerry asked.

The soldiers quietly nodded.

"We’re really going to be safe, right?" Katie asked innocently, "It’s almost night. Night is scary!"

I patted her head, ruffling her hair as I held her hand and walked toward her mother.

"Don’t worry, no need to be scared. We’re strong. Nothing’s gonna harm you."

Grrrr–!

A rumbling sound vibrated.

"I’m hungry," Katie whispered, her small hand clenching my palm tight.

"Alright, let’s eat before we go."

Katie nodded, "Mn."

After eating, we all stood up immediately.

Marcus tied the remaining resources in one duffel bag and held it tightly.

Jerry kept questioning where I got my white T-shirt from as he buckled his shoes.

I ignored him, entertaining Katie’s silly, childish questions as I tied my own shoes.

Finally, we moved.

"Onward," said Jerry, "to the future."

Future my ass. So cringe. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Well, at least the ’boss’ of this place can rest easy knowing we’re going out of this place for good.

"Heh."
