Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 296: DENIAL
After visiting Cam, Ranon went to the apartment, but he didn’t return to his place. Instead, he went straight to Leon’s flat, his head of security.
"Mr. Leighton," Leon said, surprised to see Ranon in his flat. He let him inside. Leon was still wearing the black suit he had worn to the funeral. "I didn’t expect to see you here. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Ranon went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of wine that Leon had kept as if this place were his own house.
On the other hand, Leon looked confused, but he didn’t say anything. Grief could make people act irrationally.
The fact that Ranon was here was already not normal.
"Come here," Ranon said casually as he gulped down the wine.
Leon didn’t understand why Ranon was acting this way. He wanted to ask why he didn’t attend the funeral, but he thought it was not appropriate for him to ask such a thing. "Yes, Mr. Leighton?"
Without having any clue what would happen to him, Leon walked closer to Ranon, and once he was close enough, Ranon smashed his head with the glass of wine in his hand.
The glass shattered, and the sharp shard pierced through his skin and eyes.
"Mr. Leighton! What have you done?!" Leon screamed in pain as he took a few steps back out of instinct. His heart was beating so fast because he realized that Ranon had known about his treacherous action.
However, Ranon didn’t seem to care. His hand was also bleeding. But he approached Leon and kicked him to the ground.
"Mr. Leighton!" Leon tried to fight him, but it was of no avail. Ranon stepped on his neck and was clearly intent on breaking it.
"Tell me the truth."
That was the only thing Ranon said while Leon was struggling to breathe. He put up a fight and pushed Ranon’s foot away, but then he was kicked in the face.
Two of his teeth fell off, and one of them was swallowed accidentally.
But Ranon was not done. He grabbed the bottle, took a few gulps, and then smashed it against Leon’s head.

"It will be better if you don’t see Ranon for the meantime," Ares said to Logan.
After the funeral, Logan went straight to the Royal Hospital to meet with Ranon, but he met Ares first at the lobby. He also wanted to check on Ranon.
"No, this is very important." Logan shook his head. "I can’t contact that man... my son..."
Ares was always the rational one, but not this time when he punched Logan in the face. He grimaced when his fist collided with his bones and made a scrunching noise.
Hitting someone was painful. Ares was not into a fight after all, yet his temper flared when he heard what Logan had just said.
"Your son?!" Ares growled, enraged. "You know what? If your son is dead, it’s because of you and your stupidity! How stupid can you be to pull such a trick?! We would not be here if it were not for you! If you were not stupid enough and told us the truth, you might be with your son right now! And we would not hold a funeral for Hazel!"
It was surprising that Ares defended Hazel. He had always been against Ranon and Hazel because he thought the woman put Ranon in danger.
Therefore, for him to even punch someone and defend her was something else entirely.
But what was the point of it? Hazel was dead. She had gone, and nothing could bring her back.
Logan knew that and felt devastated. "I didn’t think straight... I am sorry. I didn’t know what I had done. I don’t know..."
The hospital security approached them because they caused a commotion. They stood between Logan and Ares to prevent the latter from attacking again.
However, that was not necessary. Ares was done. He didn’t want to talk to an imbecile like Logan and chose to walk away.
Ranon’s men also approached the security personnel and requested that Ares be allowed to leave.
"Don’t let him come near the hospital! Or anywhere else around Ranon and Ashlyn!" Ares shouted grimly. "You are lucky that you are still alive now."
After saying that, Ares left for Ashlyn’s ward. She was sleeping when he came, and there was only Renna there.
Ashlyn would be discharged in two days.
"Where is Ranon?" Ares asked Renna as he massaged his fingers. He thought of having them checked, because they might be broken.
"Mr. Leighton left a few hours ago. I don’t know where he went."
Ares frowned. He then walked out to ask the bodyguards there.
"Mr. Leighton went back to the apartment, as far as I know, but he didn’t come to his place; instead, he has been with Leon."
Ares recalled that Leon was Ranon’s head of security. He wondered why he was meeting him; thus, he drove to the apartment.
However, when he arrived and went to Leon’s flat, he was not the only one there. Desgar and Arthur were also there with their men.
"Ranon?" Ares stepped inside after he was permitted to enter.
And the first thing that caught his attention was the body in the corner of the room. Leon was bleeding; he was lying in his own blood.
"What is going on?!" Ares was panicked.
What came to his mind was that someone had attacked Leon; that this was another attempt to kill Ranon, even though Daniel had withdrawn his offer for the hit on Ranon.
"We need to get him to the hospital!"
But no one moved. They looked at him with no interest; instead, they continued with their conversation.
"Are you sure about this?" Desgar asked. He frowned at Ranon. "Don’t let your anger cloud your judgment."
Ranon said nothing and gestured for his men to carry Leon’s body away. Leon groaned, indicating that he was still alive but too weak to move as Payton and Paxton dragged him away.
"What’s going on?"
Ares was clueless, and it was Pete, the twins’ older brother, who explained briefly about what had happened.
"Are you sure? Leon has been working for Ranon for years. There is no way he betrayed him like that..." Ares was dumbfounded.
"It has been confirmed. Leon confessed everything. Apparently, he fell into a drug addiction and owes the Lennoxes."
Ares was unable to believe this.
"Then where are you going?" Ares watched as they walked out of the room.
"I’m giving Gayle Lennox back what he owed us."
Leon’s betrayal led to the deaths of those killed in the accident. Leon was not the only one responsible, of course.
They had investigated the accident. It was the McKennas’ men who had shot Rick and caused their death.
But they were going to settle this debt one by one.

Laurel came to the hospital every day to take care of Ashlyn, along with Renna. It hurt her to see how Ashlyn refused to speak.
She was now afraid of a pool of water.
Even when they wanted to bathe her and filled the tub so she could play in the hope of cheering her up, Ashlyn would still cry. She was so scared, and her body would tremble.
"Where is Ranon?" Laurel sat down next to Ashlyn. She raised her arms, asking for a hug, but occasionally she would look around as if she were looking for someone.
She looked for her mother. Every time someone walked through the door, she would perk up, and her eyes would look with anticipation, thinking her mother would come to pick her up.
"I don’t know. He left this afternoon and has not yet returned." Renna was cutting fruit for Ashlyn, but she didn’t want to eat. Her body was getting thinner.
"He is not at the funeral, and he is not even here. Where the hell has he gone?" Laurel asked in exasperation. "He has a daughter to think of."
Renna wiped the tears from her eyes. She didn’t stay long at the funeral, because she chose to come here immediately to look after Ashlyn, but she had been praying for Hazel.
After all, she had been taking care of Hazel since she was still a baby, so losing her was the same as losing her own child.
"Don’t be too harsh on him, Miss. Mr. Leighton doesn’t know how to show his grief. He is at a loss right now. I hope he doesn’t do anything reckless." If she could, she would like to check on him, but she knew it was impossible. She thought of Ranon, her own son, too, now; thus, she was also worried about him.
"I know..." Laurel caressed Ashlyn’s back as she pressed her little face against her chest and hugged her tightly. She was watching her favorite cartoon, but despite being very young, it was clear she was not truly watching it.
Someone knocked on the door and opened it, which made Ashlyn lift her head and stare with anticipation at the person who walked in.
It was the nurse who would check on her.
It was not her mother...

They arrived at the Barlowes’ residence, and as expected, they were not granted entrance.
"Go back, Mr. Leighton; you are not supposed to be here."
However, Ranon ran him over instead, as he drove his car straight to the gates. He had done it once to force an entrance; he was going to do it again.
"Oh, shit..." Paxton didn’t expect this.
