Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone-Chapter 583 - 405: Aberrant Filth, Dread Aura, and Rich Spoils!
The Skeleton Warriors and Zombies held the rear, ready to charge at any moment. At that same moment, the Magma Demon with the enchanted firearms finished assembling his troops.
He stood at the forefront of his forces, a sinister smile on his lips and a mad gleam in his eyes.
He fired a precise shot, a red-glowing bullet that effortlessly took down an unlucky Skeleton Warrior. The bullet pierced its skull, knocking it to the ground and reducing it to a pile of scattered bones.
The Magma Demon Leader let out a hearty laugh.
"Hahaha, humans and a bunch of bone racks? You weaklings dare to interrupt the master’s ritual? Then you will pay the price in blood!"
All the Magic Professionals present had learned Language Mastery, a universal Skill for their profession, so they understood the Magma Demon Leader’s taunts perfectly. However, having entered a battle-ready state, the well-trained cadets of the Sea City Military Academy were not so easily flustered by enemy provocation.
With a roar from the Magma Demon, more than a dozen mutant creatures charged out of the camp first. They scrambled forward on all fours, their faces twisted with fanaticism, as if driven by some irresistible force.
So their status among the Magma Demons is no different from that of hunting dogs among humans, Fang Zhou realized instantly.
Liu Diewu had been right. Despite their terrifying appearance, these mutant creatures were clumsy and slow, barely moving any faster than the Zombies Fang Zhou had summoned.
Behind these creatures were fewer than twenty well-equipped Magma Demon Warriors. They formed a small phalanx, advancing in neat, coordinated steps.
Even though they were outnumbered by the Undead Army by more than two to one, the demons brazenly launched the first attack.
Ye Yinzhu couldn’t help but curse, "Who the hell do they think they’re looking down on?"
He then turned to the members of the Thunderfire Squad, directing them to prepare for battle according to their respective combat roles. At the same time, Fang Zhou signaled for Gu Yueyuan, Liu Diewu, and the others to begin their assault. At this range, most long-range attack spells weren’t yet optimal, but some Beneficial Magic could already be cast.
With Olaf and the Bone Lieutenant now helping him command the Undead Creatures, Fang Zhou was free to focus all his efforts on casting.
He raised the Undead Magic Ball and, after a brief Power Storage, launched a Skeleton Heart-Piercing Flying Spear that instantly killed the fastest-charging mutant creature. The spear pierced through its chest and pinned it to the ground. Blood splattered everywhere as its body twisted into a heap.
Seeing this, Ye Yinzhu was delighted. The enemy might be strong, but it made no difference against Boss Fang Zhou. A direct hit was a guaranteed kill! But he had no time to praise Fang Zhou; the enemy was drawing closer, and he had to get moving.
Fang Zhou’s attack seemed to have given the members of the Thunderfire Squad a significant morale boost. They clutched their weapons tightly, muscles taut with tension, completely prepared for the fight ahead.
Ye Yinzhu rallied his team, "Although that leader looks tough, I watched his movements carefully, especially how he reloads. His reloading speed is his biggest weakness! If he can fire three shots in a minute, I’ll be impressed!"
Due to the distance, Ye Yinzhu couldn’t make out the fine details. But just by observing the demon’s motions—from firing to clearing the chamber to reloading—he knew that while the enchanted firearm looked imposing, its greatest flaw was its loading speed.
Just as Ye Yinzhu finished speaking, Fang Zhou gently shook his head.
"Ye Yinzhu, we can’t let our guard down. I’m more worried about the ’master’ he mentioned."
Magma Demons were an exceptionally evil race known for capturing and experimenting on other demons. For them to willingly call someone ’master,’ that being had to be an extraordinarily powerful entity. Furthermore, their camp was primitive, consisting of just two shabby tents and almost no defensive structures.
Where could his master be hiding? No, wait... there’s another possibility...
Fang Zhou’s gaze slowly shifted to the erupting volcano not far away, its blazing fire illuminating half the sky.
Could his master be hiding inside that volcano?
Although Fang Zhou’s point gave Ye Yinzhu pause, after a brief discussion, he still resolutely led his troops to flank the enemy, ready to push toward the camp at a moment’s notice. After all, how could they know what tricks the enemy had hidden up their sleeves if they didn’t test the waters?
However, the Magma Demon in the camp with the enchanted firearm seemed to have seen through his intentions. After two more gunshots, Ye Yinzhu himself was unharmed, but the Zombies Fang Zhou had assigned to him as meat shields had suffered severe damage.
Just as Ye Yinzhu had guessed, the Magma Demon’s enchanted firearm did not have a high rate of fire. However, that didn’t mean it wasn’t a threat. Whenever a crimson bullet whistled from the barrel and struck a Skeleton Warrior’s vitals, it dealt a devastating blow, enough to destroy their ability to fight. If a bullet were to hit a Zombie’s Soul Fire, the undead creature would face imminent destruction.
What was more troubling was the gun’s extreme range. While it didn’t match Fang Zhou’s long-range spells, it already outranged his own Skeleton Archers. The unspoken threat was chilling. No one could predict if he might suddenly use a Skill to fire several shots in rapid succession for an instant kill.
As a precaution, the four members of the Calamity Squad and the ranged attackers of the Thunderfire Squad positioned themselves securely behind the Undead Army. They used the Skeleton Warriors and Zombies as a screen to avoid direct exposure to enemy fire. The Combat Professionals of the Thunderfire Squad mingled with the silently charging Undead Army, constantly moving between bits of cover to evade the terrifying gunfire.
Fang Zhou himself was incredibly busy. Even though Olaf and the Bone Lieutenant were temporarily commanding the undead, the enemy’s assault was so fierce that Fang Zhou couldn’t just stand by. He continuously cast support spells on the Undead Army, enhancing their combat effectiveness and ensuring they could withstand the enemy’s attack.
Meanwhile, after enduring a barrage of Arrow Rain, the mutant creatures had lost more than half their number before they finally clashed with the first line of melee troops Fang Zhou had arrayed.
When these grotesque monsters crashed into the frontline, Fang Zhou breathed a sigh of relief.
At the very front of his Undead Army was a defensive line of Zombies, their skin as tough as leather. The Long Spear Skeleton Warriors, capable of forming an anti-charge formation, served as the second line of defense. On the flanks of this frontline stood the Great Sword Skeleton Warriors and Giant Axe Skeleton Warriors, who were responsible for flank security.
As the mutant creatures charged, their formidable momentum came to an abrupt halt upon colliding with the barricade of Zombies and Long Spear Skeleton Warriors. The Zombies stood firm as rock, absorbing most of the impact, while the forest of bone spears pierced one mutant creature after another.
The Great Sword Skeleton Warriors and Giant Axe Skeleton Warriors on the flanks quickly joined the fray. Their weapons carved deadly arcs through the air, cutting down any enemy that tried to bypass the main defensive line.
The mutant creatures exuded an abhorrent aura of desecration that inspired revulsion and terror. In living beings, this aura would instinctively trigger profound fear, potentially causing a total collapse in morale.
However, against the Skeleton Warriors and Zombies, this powerful ability, similar to a Horror Aura, had no effect whatsoever. These Undead Creatures had long since lost all emotion. Their will was indomitable, unshakeable by any form of fear.
