Undead Evolution: From Trash To Divine-Chapter 45: slaying star eater
"Both of you, use Star Energy Slash!"
Lukas roared with an excited glint in his eyes. Their initial attack had already created a large open wound. If the three of them could take advantage of the situation, things might turn in their favor in no time.
Both Tommy and Astral Bone Vanguard seemed already prepared. Their arms glowed rhythmically as star energy moved from their entire frames to converge at a single point in their undead hands. Before Lukas could even blink, two Star Energy Slashes made from compressed star energy shot out. For a moment, the entire surrounding lit up, the glow was so bright if felt as if the sun had been pulled closer.
Lukas couldn’t contain himself and had to close his eyes. Even though he managed to react in time, his eyes still burned as if someone had poured molten lead directly into them.
However, before the damage could turn severe, he hurriedly turned his body to face the opposite direction.
BOOOM!
A large explosion came from behind, followed by a strong shockwave that almost threw Lukas off the ground.
Lukas hurriedly got a hold of himself and turned around to see the Star Eater standing still. Blood poured out from the open wound in large quantities, dripping toward the ground in a torrenting downpour.
The Star Eater’s mouth opened, and a terrifying but clearly pained roar echoed. The damage inflicted by the combined Star Energy Slash was devastating. Most of the Star Eater’s face had melted, yet even then its tentacle-like hands moved freely. In the blink of an eye, they wrapped around Astral Bone Vanguard’s frame tightly like snakes.
Kacha!
Followed by a sharp sound, the already weakened bones of Astral Bone Vanguard crumbled, falling into the ground.
Roar!
Even more agitated and furious, the star monster used its tentacles like a whip, blasting Astral Bone Vanguard’s skull into the distance.
This is bad!
Lukas’s heart tightened, breathing growing heavy. Although they had managed to severely injure the monster, this in turn had also pushed it to complete desperation.
His instinct warned him to turn his head around and run...!
Run and survive...!
For a moment, Lukas’s figure stood frozen like a statue, not knowing what to do.
Meanwhile, as time passed, the Star Eater’s attacks turned even more ferocious. The Gravity Pressure seemingly had no effect on it; its movements were completely free and unrestricted.
No, I can’t run now... All my previous life, I had done nothing but run.
Who says I can’t kill this monster now? It’s just the last struggle of a dying tiger.
Lukas may have achieved nothing in his previous life, but he had still managed to learn some important life lessons.
Your body would always desire the safe path to survival, to always laze around.
In his previous life, he had always given in to these whims and fancies.
But not this time. He would stay here and face his fear head-on—not just face it head-on, but kill the monster with the blade in his hand.
While he was thinking, the instinctual reaction of his body had intensified. It was so strong that Lukas wanted to lie on his back with all his limbs pointed toward the sky like a dog—a complete submission.
That ferocious nature of the Star Eater had awakened something hidden deep in his bloodline—a time when humans were not at the top of the food chain, a time when they were just prey to the predators.
The moment he realized this, a disgusted feeling rose in his heart.
The next moment, he shook his head and moved toward Tommy. "Get ready."
Tommy also understood what Lukas wanted to do. He ignored the Star Eater’s oncoming attack and threw himself in Lukas’s direction. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Lukas clenched his teeth and roared in his heart, Fusion of Life and Death!
The roar was unusually loud, as if shouting louder could increase the effectiveness of the skill!
It didn’t. Lukas just wanted to pour his frustration somewhere.
Meanwhile, Tommy’s figure crumbled. All two hundred and sixty-eight bones in his body seemed to have developed a mind of their own, flying toward Lukas’s body. The bones enlarged and wrapped around like an armored suit. One by one, each of the ribs slowly knitted together to form tight armor. In just the blink of an eye, the fusion was complete. Both undead and man became one.
An unprecedented fusion of life and death.
Individually, Lukas might only be a lowly Star Refining Rank 1 cultivator with the strength of a hundred kilograms, and Tommy an epic-grade creature of First Rank with strength equal to most late-stage Body Refining cultivators at Rank 6 or above. But when fused together, they reached a level that couldn’t easily be gauged.
In star monster terms, they were above epic grade—most probably at the legendary level.
Lukas wasn’t sure, nor did he have the time to care about it.
Moving as fast as possible, he hurriedly closed the distance. Everything had happened too fast for the Star Eater to barely react.
Maybe the injuries were finally getting a hold of it.
Hidden behind the bone mask, Lukas’s eyes ignited as soul fire surged within them, giving an unprecedentedly clear vision. For a moment, the dozens of tentacles flying in their direction slowed down. Lukas flicked his wrist, and the copper sword roared to life, perfectly parrying every attack.
This is it...
By the last attack, Lukas was once again on top of the monster, copper sword raised high into the air. However, Lukas didn’t slash but grabbed the sword hilt with both hands and thrust downward.
Puchi!
He only felt slight resistance, and the sword easily penetrated deeper into the skull. The monster writhed, throwing its tentacles around like sharp whips. Each impact felt as if a hammer had struck. Even though he was protected by the exoskeleton, the force generated by the impact still managed to travel deeper toward Lukas’s figure. A few of the bones seemed to have been fractured by the blunt damage.
Argh!
A painful grunt escaped his lips, but his grip on the sword didn’t loosen. With a sudden motion, Lukas twisted the blade with all his strength.
Kacha!
Maybe pushed to its limits or something else, but the skull broke into two parts—one and a half feet remained stuck in the creature’s forehead, and the other half was in Lukas’s hands.
As if possessed, Lukas attacked again and again. Blood splattering dyed his figure completely crimson, but Lukas didn’t stop—not even noticing that at some point the Star Eater’s figure had come to a complete halt, its tentacle-like hands falling lifelessly to the ground.
It was only when his star‑energy reserves were about to be completely exhausted that he stopped moving. The exoskeleton covering his figure glowed, and the bones detached themselves one by one, slowly reforming back into Tommy’s figure.
Tommy’s pure white bones were filled with multiple cracks, blood seeping deeper into the cracks. On the other hand, Lukas could barely stand, as most of the bones in his body were broken. The simple act of breathing felt like fighting against the world itself.
He slowly crawled toward the Star Eater’s corpse and severed its head, throwing it toward Tommy with clear intention.
After doing this, he placed his right hand above the headless corpse. A faint suction force emerged from his hand, devouring the Star Eater’s pieces to heal himself. Parasitic Overgrowth came to life, devouring the Star Eater’s body and turning the mass into nutrients that rapidly healed Lukas’s internal wounds.
