Undead Evolution: From Trash To Divine-Chapter 44: Stacked Gravity pressure
The soulfire in Tommy’s eyes blazed brilliantly. His rune-engraved bones creaked as he pushed himself up, then lifted his head to look at Lukas with those two hollow eye sockets, his posture carrying a faint trace of embarrassment.
Meanwhile, at some point, the basic Bonewalker had already come rushing in and grabbed the Star Eater’s legs, trying to pin it down and stop it from moving. But the Star Eater only kicked once in response, sending the poor fellow flying through the air like a bullet. Several of its ribs shattered instantly, breaking apart mid-flight and blasting into everything around it like bone shrapnel. When the scattered bones struck the ground, a crater as large as a bowl appeared on the surface.
Gasp!
Lukas drew in a deep breath and silently prayed for the little skelly in his heart. After all, the basic Bonewalker might have endless stamina, but its healing ability was limited. Hell, not to mention anything else—this thing had no real healing ability at all.
Just as he was thinking that, Lukas suddenly shook his head.
Am I getting too casual?
He instinctively realized his attitude had become far too relaxed, as though the Star Eater wasn’t ten times stronger than him in raw power and capable of tearing him apart with ease.
For a brief moment, the scene even felt a little too comical.
Thankfully, before it could go too far, Lukas noticed his strange state and tried his best to act as serious as possible. He glanced around, and after finding no source of dead organic matter nearby, the implications became clear. If he got injured again, there would be no way for him to heal.
From this point on, every move had to be strategic.
"Grrr!"
The Star Eater let out a terrifying screech. Its tentacle-like hands slammed into the earth, digging up a massive boulder. Even doing that seemed to cost it quite a bit of effort, as shown by the lone star energy gathered on its forehead, shining brightly.
"Damn!"
Lukas’s thoughts were interrupted.
Before he could even blink, the giant boulder came hurtling toward him. He threw his body to the side at the last second to dodge the impact.
Whoosh!
The boulder shot past his face and smashed into the iron tree trunk in the distance. The great tree, which had stood tall for many years, bent backward under the sheer force of the hit. Then its trunk exploded into countless fragments, splintering inward as though it had been crushed from within.
Lukas stared at the destruction and swallowed hard.
A thought couldn’t help but surface in his mind.
If I had been hit by that... what would have happened?
He didn’t even want to imagine it.
Just thinking about it sent a chill down his spine. Although he had multiple passive abilities, his body was still that of a normal rank 1 body-refining awakener. If that boulder had landed on him, most of the bones in his body would have been shattered, and he would have died a dog-like death.
However, from that moment on, the Star Eater kept attacking without pause. In barely a moment, Lukas’s thoughts moved faster than light as he considered every countermeasure he could use.
Stay calm. The situation might not be as bad as it looks.
The only reason Lukas could remain calm was one decisive observation. From start to finish, the Star Eater had only relied on physical attacks. Lukas’s eyes narrowed sharply at that thought, his grip tightening on the copper sword until the veins on the back of his hand bulged like cords.
He took a deep breath and shouted loudly.
"Tommy! Go and immobilize him!"
The words had barely left his mouth when Tommy was already moving. After all, the connection the two of them shared was almost soul-deep. Tommy instantly understood what Lukas wanted.
Lukas didn’t waste any time either.
With every step, his body shot forward faster thanks to Meteor Momentum. He was like a bullet continuously accelerating, and by the second step his figure had already turned into a blur, leaving multiple afterimages in his wake.
Tommy’s body, though built like an absolute unit after its evolution, was frighteningly fast too—faster even than Lukas in some respects. Compared to him, Tommy’s physical foundation was far superior, and the boost he received from skills like Meteor Momentum was even greater.
Where Tommy’s bone foot landed, a small crater formed.
By the time he reached the Star Eater, terrifying pressure had already fallen upon the monster’s frame, making it difficult for it to move. Lukas arrived soon after as well, gritting his teeth as he pushed as much star energy as possible into Gravity Pressure.
This gotta work... Lukas prayed as he had no other options.
For a moment, the air around them seemed to crack and explode under the sudden increase in force. Even the Star Eater’s movements became sluggish, and more than a dozen tentacles appeared to halt in midair for a brief instant, as though the monster had been abruptly dragged deep into the ocean from the sky.
Lukas was caught off guard after noticing this.
He hadn’t expected Gravity Pressure to have such an exaggerated effect.
Maybe this is my chance
He was already a calm person, but after his sword skill advanced to the intermediate stage, his state of mind became even steadier — like warriors who had endured thousands of bloody battles, their minds hardened through endless slaughter. With every kill, the edge of his sword might be dulled, but his mental resolve sharpened continuously.
His focus narrowed like a young hawk’s.
Lukas raised the sword high. The drifting light in the air landed on the edge of the copper-infused blade, briefly capturing this intense moment where a single mistake could decide the fate of someone like him.
Swish!
The sword drew a clean arc through the air, slashing toward the creature’s forehead.
He aimed for the head almost instinctively, not because he believed the head was necessarily the only weak point, but because anything with a star carving upon it was usually fragile and often the most common place to strike.
As if sensing the danger, the creature reacted on instinct. Even though its movements were hindered, it still forced its tentacles to cut through the air and intercept the attack.
Clang!
Sparks flew wildly in the air.
Lukas felt as though his hand had been struck by hammers, the impact shaking his entire body. However, instead of stopping, he gritted his teeth and attacked again, this time with even greater ferocity.
For a moment, both Lukas and his sword seemed to reach an unprecedented level of synergy, moving as one.
Puchi!
Blood splashed into the air as the sword managed to penetrate three inches deep into the Star Eater’s skull.
Lukas used all his strength, trying to force the blade deeper. The muscles in his arm tightened like braided steel, but the sword did not move even an inch.
It was clear.
His strength was still not enough!
The instant he reached that realization, Lukas gave the command almost immediately.
"Tommy and Skelly, both of you, use Star Energy Slash!"
At some point, Astral Bone Vanguard had also joined the battle, but its shining presence paled in comparison to Tommy’s. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Tommy’s response was immediate.
Every single rune engraved on his body lit up as if awakened. Then a current began to flow from where his heart should have been, slowly moving toward his shoulders and then into his arms.
Whoosh!
A gigantic six-meter slash of pure compressed star energy shot toward the Star Eater’s forehead.
Sizzle!
The air heated up to terrifying degrees in an instant, and thunderous sounds echoed in every direction.
The Star Eater’s tentacles flared once more, trying to block the incoming attack, but it was already too late.
The slash struck directly on the forehead, then, like a hot knife sliding through butter, it nearly chopped the monster in half.
Lukas did not get excited.
He only watched with relentless focus, ready to adapt to the changing situation.
Once he saw Tommy’s attack working, a sharp, excited glint flashed through his eyes, and he decided to double down.
