Ultimate Tycoon: Building the Richest Empire with System and Heroines-Chapter 69: Oops, Wrong Left
Chapter 69: Oops, Wrong Left
Ethan dragged himself out of bed, visibly annoyed. His hair was a mess, and his eyes still held sleep.
"Where is he now?" he asked.
Luke, already dressed and prepared, replied, "He’s in the area of Mount Gai."
Ethan slapped his forehead. "That dumb f*ck. I get it, he wants to die with drama, but can’t he be useful to us first?" freeweɓnovel~cѳm
Seraphina raised a brow. "Is there something wrong, Ethan?"
He paused for a second. That was the first time she used his first name... and her voice didn’t sound formal or distant. It was soft, almost concerning.
He quickly replied, "It’s Master Yun’s special area. There’s no guarantee he’s there, but if Yun is hiding anything illegal or personal, it’ll be there."
Luke’s face turned serious. "This is bad. If Gregory dies now, your plan won’t work."
Ethan shrugged. "Then we save him again. He still needs to show us what Yun’s been hiding."
He turned to Luke. "Tell your men to keep watching him. We’re going ourselves."
Luke nodded. "Are you really sure Master Yun is hiding something illegal?"
Ethan smirked. "As sure as your love for her."
Luke choked slightly. His ears turned red, and he glanced away.
Seraphina blinked, then chuckled softly. "Hehe... so you knew."
Ethan grinned. "Who wouldn’t? The way you two look at each other? Come on."
Luke sighed. "Please don’t tell anyone."
"Relax," Ethan said. "I won’t say a word."
Though in his mind, he thought, The king and queen probably already know. Parents always do.
He straightened his jacket. "Alright then. Let’s get going."
"Wait," Seraphina said suddenly. "I’m coming too."
Ethan turned. "Can you fight?" he asked, half-laughing.
Seraphina laughed back. "You’d be surprised."
Luke added calmly, "She’s stronger than she looks."
Ethan blinked. "Huh?"
Deep within the misty forest of Mount Gai, Gregory crouched low behind a thick tree, eyes fixed on the massive stone structure ahead.
The building wasn’t just built,it was carved into the mountain itself, its architecture grand and intimidating. Its arches and terraces seemed to grow from the rock like part of nature, majestic and imposing. Gregory narrowed his eyes.
"Tch. There were no guards here before..." he muttered.
Everywhere he looked now, armed men patrolling in shifts, surveillance crystals hovering mid-air, and even beasts chained at the gates. Security had tripled. The once secretive and peaceful base was now a fortress.
"That old bastard must’ve known I’d come here..."
Gregory clenched his jaw, frustration bubbling. He had only one goal: expose Master Yun’s crimes and destroy everything the man had built through lies and manipulation. But right now, even getting inside looked impossible.
"No matter," Gregory thought. "If I can’t go head-on, I’ll find another way."
He slipped deeper into the forest, circling toward the rear. The foliage thickened, and he ducked under branches, careful to avoid detection. Eventually, he came close enough to hear two guards chatting near a campfire just behind a stone outpost.
"Why do you think Young Master Gregory betrayed Master Yun?" one of them asked.
Gregory paused, hiding behind a bush barely meters away, listening intently.
"They were so close," the first guard continued. "Like father and son. Then he suddenly turns on him? Makes no sense."
The second guard sighed. "Yeah... real shame. But now he’s on the royal family’s target list. He’s as good as dead."
Gregory’s eyes narrowed.
So that’s the story Yun is spreading? That I betrayed him? he thought bitterly. Unbelievable.
He clenched his fists. You turned me into a monster, and now you’re calling me a traitor?
The second guard added in a low tone, "Anyway, we’ve got direct orders. If Gregory does show up here..."
He made a slashing motion across his neck.
Gregory’s teeth gritted.
Kill me on sight, huh? As if I’d go down that easily.
He looked up at the looming stone fortress. The towering structure had several entrances, but only one caught his attention, the southern corridor. Hidden by rocky ridges and thick vines, it wasn’t as guarded as the others.
"If I can get through the south side," Gregory muttered under his breath, "I can reach the storage wing. That’s where he keeps all his records... documents, blackmail files... everything."
He knew what was inside: trade ledgers, corruption logs, client lists for illegal auctions, and blackmail material that could ruin half the noble court.
This is it, he thought. If I can grab even half of those files, Yun’s finished.
He took one last look at the chatting guards, then silently slipped away into the darkness, heading toward the southern cliff.
Old man, you trained me well. Now watch how your perfect student buries you.
Gregory crept down the rocky slope toward the South Gate, eyes sharp, heart pounding.
Almost there...
At first, it felt easy. Too easy. The path was dimly lit, and the guards seemed to be positioned farther north. He moved swiftly, each step calculated.
But then,click.
He looked down. A small pressure plate sat beneath his foot.
Shit.
A loud WEEEOOO WEEEOOO siren screeched across the compound.
"INTRUDER ALERT!"
"WHERE?!"
"South corridor!"
Dozens of guards turned and began rushing toward his position like angry bees. Gregory cursed and bolted forward.
One guard spotted him instantly. "There! It’s Gregory!"
A gun was raised.
BANG!
The bullet zipped past his ear. Gregory dove behind a pillar, panting.
Suddenly, a large figure appeared in front of him—a senior guard in a black-and-gold uniform. Before Gregory could react,
BAM!
A punch landed square on his jaw, sending him crashing to the ground.
The guard sneered. "So Master Yun was right. You are here. This is your end!"
He raised his gun.
But Gregory rolled sideways and kicked the guard’s shin hard,
CRACK!
The man staggered, yelling in pain.
Gregory then jumped up and slammed a fist into the guard’s face,
THUD!
But before he could breathe, another guard tackled him from behind.
"Shit,I’m done," Gregory muttered.
Suddenly, the second guard was sent flying with a spinning kick.
"Young master, we’re here!" a cheerful voice said.
Gregory blinked as three masked figures in clown masks landed beside him in perfect sync,Ethan, Luke, and Seraphina.
The first two guards were swiftly knocked unconscious by Luke’s brutal combo of elbow and palm strike, while Ethan spun midair and heel-kicked the gun out of another guard’s hand.
Gregory sat up, stunned. "You—you’re alive? Thank God!"
Ethan dusted his sleeves. "Barely escaped. But our team’s gone. Master Yun... he killed everyone. He even killed your friend Trevor."
"I’m sorry," Ethan said quietly. "I couldn’t save him."
Behind the masks, Luke and Seraphina looked at each other, slightly impressed.
His acting’s pretty good, Luke thought.
Gregory growled. "He killed Trevor?!"
Ethan grabbed him by the collar and hissed, "Keep your voice down, Young Master!"
Gregory blinked. All around them, boots pounded. Guards were searching the area.
They quickly ducked behind a broken pillar near the wall.
"How did you even find me?" Gregory asked.
"We didn’t," Ethan replied. "Before our leader died, he told us to come to Mount Gai and investigate Yun’s shady side. So... here we are. But we don’t know where to look."
Gregory smirked. "I do. The South Gate. There’s a hidden underground vault. That’s where he keeps smuggled gold, laundered money, blackmail documents, everything."
Seraphina and Luke raised their eyebrows behind the masks.
Ethan was right, they both thought.
"But the guards are all over," Gregory said. "How do we—?"
"Don’t worry," Luke said, smirking. "We’re experts."
Ethan nodded. "Follow our lead."
The group bolted from cover.
"Left!" Luke shouted.
Ethan went right and instantly smacked into a patrolling guard. "Oops, wrong left!"
The guard swung a baton. Ethan ducked, and the baton slammed right into Gregory’s forehead.
"Ow!" Gregory cried.
Another guard threw a punch at Ethan, who ducked... again. The punch hit Gregory in the stomach this time.
"AGAIN?!"
"I swear it’s not personal!" Ethan yelled, spinning and knocking the guard’s legs out.
A bullet whizzed past—
ZING!,barely missing Gregory’s butt.
"HEY!"
"You’re attracting the bullets, not me!" Ethan retorted.
Luke, meanwhile, blocked a dagger with his arm, spun the attacker, and threw him into another charging guard.
Seraphina jumped from behind and smacked two heads together like coconuts. "These guys are weaker than I thought."
One guard threw a knife toward Ethan,he tilted slightly,
THUNK! The blade landed on Gregory’s shoulder .
"I am not your shield!" Gregory shouted.
"Young master, please stop being in my way!" Ethan replied, somersaulting past him.
Another guard came swinging. Gregory ducked this time, but the attacker got dropkicked by Seraphina midair.
She winked under the mask. "See? I can fight."
"Okay... you win!" Ethan admitted, half-winded.
With a final coordinated push, Luke threw a smoke bomb. The group disappeared into the mist as the guards coughed and stumbled blindly.
They raced toward the gate, sliding down the slope, finally reaching the hidden mechanism Gregory had mentioned.
Ethan pressed the stone glyph and the stone gate slowly began to open.
They slipped inside just before more guards arrived.
"Nice work, team," Ethan said, panting. "Next time though... let’s avoid the part where I become a bullet magnet."
Gregory groaned. "You?! My jaw is broken, my ribs are bruised, and I nearly got stabbed twice,BY YOU."
Seraphina laughed.
Luke smirked. "This was the warm-up."
The gate shut behind them.
