Tyrannical Tycoon Haunts Me Relentlessly-Chapter 481: He Has Lonely Moments Too 1
Xia Yinian still stood in place, unwilling to go over, because she didn’t know what he would do to her after she approached.
Just now, Gu Beicheng’s lonely and solitary figure, for some unknown reason, gave off a heartachingly sad feeling.
She had known about his loneliness for a long time.
She had thought that she could stay by his side and offer him a little warmth.
But she never expected their relationship to develop to this point.
She stood frozen there, but Gu Beicheng suddenly stopped, turned around to look at her: "I don’t want to force you anymore."
Xia Yinian’s heart trembled, and she followed him instinctively.
She decided to trust him this once, believing that as long as she accompanied him, he would let her go when he was pleased.
Although this demon was really bad, at least he had some redeeming qualities—at least, he would follow through with what he said.
Gu Beicheng walked to the bar, poured a drink, and pushed a glass towards her: "Keep me company with a drink."
"I don’t drink," Xia Yinian shook her head, directly refusing.
Gu Beicheng didn’t force her, merely holding his wine glass and silently sipping.
"Sing me a song," he suddenly said, seemingly having finished off a whole bottle without her noticing.
"I can’t," Xia Yinian responded without much grace, unapologetic about her inability.
He suddenly put down the bottle, staring at her with an intense and terrifying gaze.
"What do you want to do?" Xia Yinian instinctively wanted to avoid him.
"You’re forcing me to compel you," Gu Beicheng curled his lips up, his cruel words accompanied by a seemingly innocent smile.
Xia Yinian drew a sharp breath, genuinely afraid he might lose his sanity.
Could she go back now? She didn’t want to stay by his side at all!
She didn’t know how much time had passed before she bit her lip, took a deep breath, and slowly started to sing.
"Never have I truly felt,
The climate when snowflakes bloom.
We shiver together,
And comprehend more, what gentleness is.
I’ve never walked with you hand in hand,
Through the barren sand dunes.
Perhaps from now on, I’ll cherish more,
The eternity and the permanence of the world..."
For some reason, Xia Yinian chose this song, as the lyrics suddenly came to her mind.
So beautiful, yet so desolate.
"Sometimes, sometimes, I believe that everything has an end,
Meetings and partings, alike, have their moments, nothing can remain forever.
Yet sometimes, I rather choose to linger and not let go,
Until I’m wearied by all the sceneries, maybe then, you’ll join me in watching the long stream flow endlessly..."
(Excerpt from the song "Red Beans")
Gu Beicheng watched her, intently, not sure if he was listening to her singing or contemplating the lyrics she sang.
If they could traverse barren dunes, wade through the long streams, could it possibly lead to an eternity?
Is nothing truly everlasting? But why does he prefer to believe in the persistence within the lyrics, opting to linger rather than to let go?
"Next month, are you getting engaged to Ling Qian?" he suddenly asked, the wine glass swaying lightly in his hand.
The liquid inside shimmered with waves of crimson luster.
Xia Yinian was taken aback, not understanding what he meant by bringing this up at the moment.
But he seemed calm, not angry.
"Yes," she nodded.
"Are you happy with him?"
"Happy." Without any doubt.
How cruel Xia Yinian’s answer was to Gu Beicheng might only be known to him.
He lifted his hand, draining the wine in the glass.
He suddenly put down the glass and looked at her: "Stay with me for ten more days, and after that, I won’t force your decisions anymore."
