Chapter 1145: Chapter 1145: Won’t Get Jealous for No Reason

Not far away, Ian Shelby, wearing a white coat, emerged from the inpatient department. With his hands in his pockets, he glanced toward the artificial lake and immediately spotted Mia Lane and Ethan Dalton.

Then, he began to walk toward them.

He was exceptionally handsome, and the smile on his face in the sunlight was sincere and warm.

"Ethan is really good, he’s made a lot of progress recently. Sister is very happy," Mia Lane took her brother’s hand, rubbed it in her palm, planning to take him back to the room to rest.

The siblings hadn’t even started to walk away when Ian Shelby arrived in front of them.

Their gazes met, and Mia Lane stopped in her tracks. The gentle lake breeze lifted her hair and fluttered the hem of his coat.

"I’ve arranged a laryngeal examination for him today. The expert from Freyne will arrive in half an hour," Ian said.

Ian gave another glance at the child, then returned his gaze to Mia Lane, "Don’t worry, there will be no discomfort. It’s all high-tech testing."

"Thank you for your hard work." Mia Lane smiled gently, "You always arrange everything so thoroughly."

Ian replied sincerely, "Because I also hope he can get better soon."

Mia Lane bent down and gently shook the boy’s shoulder, "Ethan, do you know who he is? Do you still remember?"

Ethan Dalton slowly lifted his eyes and looked at Ian Shelby, blinking.

Not far away, Vera Ford came out of the inpatient department. She was looking for Ian because she heard from the nurse that he had just stepped out.

She hadn’t taken a few steps before witnessing the scene by the artificial lake.

Ian Shelby and Mia Lane were standing together...

Ian had a smile on his face as he bent down to affectionately pat the little boy’s head, and Mia Lane was also smiling happily as they conversed.

A moment of sadness flashed in Vera Ford’s eyes. She turned back into the hospital lobby, with the image of Ian and Mia together still lingering in her mind.

From a woman’s intuition, Vera could tell Ian liked Mia Lane. It was evident in every glance.

But Vera wasn’t afraid, nor did she perceive Mia as a rival, because she was Justin Kingston’s wife. No matter the feelings, boundaries wouldn’t be crossed.

Back at her post, Vera was very focused and patient.

"Aunt Quinn, how are you feeling today?" she asked, entering the ward with a notebook for rounds, "Any discomfort anywhere?"

"Much better today, Dr. Ford. When can I be discharged?"

Vera flipped through the pages, reviewing the hospitalization record, "If you’re feeling much better, you can leave tomorrow. All your test results have come back, and there’s nothing concerning."

"I haven’t done the abdominal CT yet, Dr. Ford. Do you think it’s necessary? Consider it a check-up," the patient, worried about her health, asked.

Ian Shelby came up from the hallway, heading in this direction.

When he reached the door, he saw Vera Ford inside and heard her speaking—

"Auntie, let me tell you this, earning money isn’t easy, so unnecessary tests really aren’t necessary. An abdominal CT is mainly to rule out tumors and cancer."

Vera patiently explained, "However, if you had a tumor or cancer, your blood tests wouldn’t be normal, your hemoglobin and white blood cell counts would be higher."

"Your blood test results are very normal, so there’s no need for additional tests. But if you’re still worried, you can have one for peace of mind."

"No, no," the patient said gratefully, "I trust you, Dr. Ford. You’re truly a good person! Just talking with you eases my pain."

At the door, Ian Shelby listened to Vera Ford’s interaction with the patient, feeling quite pleased.
