Chapter 1122: Chapter 1122: Being Wary of Jocelyn

"My foot, it’s a bit injured, but it’s nothing serious." Jocelyn felt a bit awkward; she didn’t want to explain how she got hurt, hoping no one would ask further.

Ian Shelby gently placed the bowl and chopsticks on her bedside table, "Let’s eat first." He adjusted the chair and didn’t look at her.

"You even bought me a meal?" Jocelyn was surprised, smiling as she said, "Thank you! Dr. Shelby! You’re so thoughtful to even remember I haven’t eaten!"

Ian stood up straight and said calmly to her, "This was personally made by Dr. Ford, so don’t waste it. It’s best if you finish it all."

"..." Jocelyn was even more surprised. She paused for a moment, then looked at Vera Ford, "You made it?"

Vera smiled kindly and innocently, "You’re welcome."

"Thank you." Jocelyn was quite touched.

"Ian." Vera quickly said to Ian again, "Didn’t you say you’d go back with me for dinner? When are we leaving?"

Ian glanced at the computer, then at Jocelyn, instructing, "Remember to lock the door when you sleep, turn off the computer when you’re done, and leave it here by your bed."

His meaning was quite clear.

The girl nodded energetically, "Don’t worry, I’ve got it. The computer’s here, I’m here. The computer’s gone, I’m gone!"

Hearing her witty remark, Vera felt even more uncomfortable inside, wondering who she was trying to act cute for.

Yet her smile remained pleasant, "Let’s go, Ian!" She came over, hooked her arm through his, and quickly let go, reminding him it was time to leave.

Ian didn’t say anything else and turned to follow Vera’s steps.

Jocelyn was quite happy; her stomach had been a bit hungry, and she’d been planning to order takeout.

She hadn’t expected this sister of his to bring dinner over. It looked promising; she could smell the aroma through the lid.

Jocelyn placed the computer aside, got out of bed without putting weight on her right leg, which didn’t hurt.

She hopped around nimbly on one leg.

There was a small chair by the bed; the facilities were top-notch!

Jocelyn opened the meal box, and it was quite lavish! The color, aroma, and taste were all appealing, making her mouth water; she quickly picked up the chopsticks.

While eating, she looked at Ian’s computer desktop, full of professional folders and some incomprehensible medical reports, exuding a sense of sophistication.

Her admiration for Ian grew a bit more.

Meanwhile, Ian followed Vera out of the elevator. In the lobby on the first floor, Vera turned and asked him, "Can I ride back with you in your car?"

"Didn’t you drive here?" Ian headed outside.

"I did, but my wrist feels a bit uncomfortable, holding a scalpel during the day and a kitchen knife in the afternoon." Vera turned to him while walking, maintaining a smile, "How about coming with you in the morning?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Ian didn’t want to cause any misunderstanding, so they always drove separate cars, even though they had been living together recently.

"If it’s inconvenient for you," Vera saw he didn’t answer and smiled, changing her tone, "I can take a cab tomorrow."

Having put it this way, it would seem too sensitive for Ian to refuse again.

Exiting the lobby, Ian reached out to open the passenger door. Vera’s heart leaped with joy, and she smiled at him before quickly getting into the car.

Ian, gentlemanly, closed the car door for her, walked around the car, and got into the driver’s seat.

Both fastened their seat belts, and the car started quickly.

Vera didn’t ask anything about Jocelyn; she didn’t even know her name, only having met her once.

But regarding Ian’s actions today, lending her the computer and bringing her dinner, Vera couldn’t help but be a bit more cautious about this girl.
