True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 292: Strange fellow
"Put it back. It’s so bright here."
I looked at him blankly, processing his words because I thought I heard him incorrectly. But when the man scrunched his nose up and looked at me in dismay, I was certain I didn’t mishear him.
"You... want me to blindfold you?" I asked, tilting my head to the side.
"Mhm."
"You..." I furrowed my brows, organizing my thoughts, as I was a little appalled by his request. Anyone in this situation should be alarmed, right? His hands and feet were bound, blindfolded, and his mouth covered. I was certain he was aware he was abducted. Unless... he was a fool?
"Do you have any idea what kind of situation you’re in?" I still asked just to make sure whether he was a fool or just a strange one.
"Mhm. Was abducted." His answer was short and simple. He didn’t even show the slightest vestiges of being alarmed as he added, "while I was drunk."
"..."
Did Lucien catch himself a bad apple? I narrowed my eyes as I scrutinized his face. No matter where I look, the only change in his countenance was that he looked more annoyed with every passing second. Did he really want me to blindfold him again?
I glanced up at the chandelier on instinct. "It’s not that bright," came out a murmur, only to hear the irritated click of his tongue.
"Damn it."
Hearing him curse, I looked down at him with a frown. "Can you move? If you can, just leave this place, alright?"
"Huh?"
"Since you already know you were abducted not just once, but twice, you should flee this place. Once my brother arrives and sees you in here, you will never get to leave the place," I explained, keeping it short and direct.
It was better this way; I thought. Letting him escape now would take the thorn out of my throat and he wouldn’t be my problem anymore. Moreover, I saved my time from sneaking out just to release him back to where he came from. However, this man just looked me dead in the eye.
"Since you abducted me, please let me stay for the night." My face contorted at his request. "Don’t kick me out. I promise I will stay still and won’t break free from these ropes."
His eyes went round as he sported a puppy look, batting his eyes, and changing his tone from what he sounded like earlier. I lost my voice at this sudden shift of mood.
’Did he think he is a guest?!’ was what I wanted to ask, but my mouth simply opened and closed. When I regained my voice, I cocked my head to the side.
"You don’t want to get kicked out?" I asked, witnessing how he hid his annoyance at my stupid questions. Of course, I was aware they were stupid questions! However, I couldn’t believe it! Never in my life did I meet someone who was this relaxed in this situation!
Everyone in this place was crazy, yes. Hence, I was used to people treading on eggshells around us. Even I was treading on eggshells in the castle I grew up to because I was afraid people would find me weak.
"Please?" he smiled and raised his brows.
"Your handsome face won’t help you." I shook my head in disbelief, letting out a sigh as I held the cloth to blindfold him again.
"You’re beautiful." I froze and raised my eyes, this time scrunching my nose up in disdain.
"Compliments won’t help you," I spat out, but the side of his lips curled into a bewitching smirk. This was what I said when I thought his beauty was fatal.
"I’m not complimenting you. It’s a fact."
"Tch." I snap my tongue and aggressively put the blindfold back to cover his eyes. When I reached for the cloth around his neck to cover his mouth, he spoke.
"Do you have a lover? It’ll be nice if we get to know each other and..." the rest of his words were shoved back into his throat as I pulled up the cloth and covered his mouth.
What the hell was wrong with this guy? I wondered, looking down at him strangely. How could he have the leisure to flirt? But then again, he even requested to not get kicked out.
"Lucien surely got himself a bad apple," I mumbled, placing my hands on my thigh to push myself up.
As I turned to walk towards the door where Lisha was on standby, I froze once again. And when I looked back, my eyes fell back on the strange man talking to me once again. My eyes dilated when I saw his free hands, his finger pulling down the blindfold just enough for his one eye to peek out.
"By the way, who is Lucien? Is he your husband?" he asked, waiting for my answer. "Never mind if you don’t want to answer." And he put the blindfold back all on his own before sliding his hand in the loosened rope behind him.
"..."
’Something’s wrong here!’ I mentally panicked, eyes fixed on the man who wasn’t moving an inch from his spot. He could move! Did that mean the effect of the drug had already worn off? And he was simply pretending just so he could stay longer?
Myriads of questions and worst-case scenarios instantly clouded my head until it throbbed. I stayed on the spot, eyes still on him, breathing growing heavier.
"You..." I called under my breath. "... do you really think you’re a guest here?"
No answer, as if he was back in the initial state when I first came in here to meet Raoul. I didn’t know what was wrong with this guy, but I marched toward him and pulled down his blindfold, only to see him squeeze his face.
"You can move?" I asked, watching him open his eyes slightly. Since his mouth was still covered, he shook his head as an answer. "Don’t lie!"
My eyes widened as I ground my teeth seeing him frown. The next second, I held my breath as he freed himself without exerting any effort and sat upright, pulling down the cover of his mouth.
"Please adopt me. I have no place to stay or money to fill my stomach."
