True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 259: My Corazon
Teresa ran by foot along with a few werewolves taking care of Sally. They sedated Sally and was now unconscious in the arms of a royal knight. But she could wake up anytime once the drug wore off.
She gritted her teeth, turning to look at the unconscious Sally. Her jaw instantly clenched as she looked ahead, grinding her canines when a counsel of vampires appeared the closer they were to the open hallway, connecting the inner palace to another castle.
Her speed picked up, running in the front of the werewolves.
"Your Highness, please --"
"Take care of Sally," yelled Teresa, eyes bloodshot. "Whatever happens, ran forth. I’ll watch your back."
"Your Highness!"
"That’s an order! Take Priscilla in her room — no, in the library of the Princess’ palace."
Teresa drew a breath as her clothes slowly ripped while her body grew in size of that to a werewolf with ash fur. A loud, hungry growl came out of her mouth, galloping towards the counsel of vampires to make way for Sally and the rest.
She knew this was reckless, but taking Sally to a safer place was their priority. Honestly, she didn’t need to fight as the people with her were just as capable; she wasn’t the strongest wolf out there. However, what would Teresa do once they were out of the imperial palace?
All she knew was to nurture a flower, poetry, embroidery, and fighting. She didn’t have any idea how to help Sally. So, she might as well help these people so they could help her big sister, who silently protected her siblings without taking any credit.
Tomas was the same, she thought. He was left behind, knowing that was the only thing he could do.
"Go!" came out a full grumble, meeting the coven of vampires standing still, eyes glowing in red as if staring at their prey.
Teresa might not be the strongest Tempest, but she excelled in speed. Her wolf’s form, which was slimmer than male werewolves, slowly appeared as a ball of ash, speeding through the vampires, who were blocking their path.
Her distance with the werewolves still in human form grew wider and in a blink, a head rolled down the ground with his body collapsing with a thud.
Unfazed by the sudden death of their fellow vampire, their eyes moved, trying to catch the elusive wolf running around them.
She was fast, almost like she was leaping into space. When she downed another vampire again, her approaching allies still couldn’t help but be in awe despite the situation at her display of speed. This was the first time they had seen the tamed Teresa fight without a second hesitation.
It didn’t take long when she managed to get their enemies out of the way for her sister to pass by safely. The group thought if Teresa kept this up, she would surely end this in a landslide and catch up to them.
That sliver of hope was quickly squashed down, however, right before they enter the vestibule of the castle. A loud, painful growl echoed that slowed down their pace to look in her direction.
There, on the open expanse, Teresa was slammed down, rolling on the ground as a vampire managed to adjust to her speed in time.
"Your Highness!" yelled the physician, but his breath hitched when he received a howl from her.
Go, was what they understood from her loud growl.
"Your Highness..." the knight holding Sally ground his teeth, unable to take a step forward, as his duty to protect the royal family tried to stop him. He should be the one protecting them, not the young princess, whose engagement hadn’t been settled.
Their second hesitation was enough for the vampire to take advantage of it. Suddenly, the knights’ and the physicians’ eyes widened ever so slowly, feeling a dark aura looming behind them.
No... Teresa thought. It was impossible, was what crossed their head.
The vampire that appeared out of nowhere... seemed to have copied Teresa’s speed. No, he was even faster.
"Sally!" her voice was the fastest way to reach Sally as Teresa leaped in their direction. She wouldn’t make it. Her broken ankle, which was now healing, didn’t slow her down, but... she wouldn’t make it to them.
’No...’ her inner voice shook as a tension built in her throat. Her breath was suspending as she felt this pain as if a needle pricked her heart.
"Hands..." as time ticked back to the normal pace, Teresa heard a smoldering, shaking voice. "... off my sister!"
CRASH!
A loud crash was heard the next second as the vampire’s figure broke through the castle wall. Teresa took a moment to process the turn of events, eyes falling to the figure standing near Sally and the rest.
Cora.
"These motherfuckers...!" Cora’s voice shook through her gritted teeth, furious at a level she had never felt before. But Teresa only snapped back to the current lapse when she heard thuds nearby.
She turned her head, only to see Garrett dusting off his hands. The vampires, who tried to attack Teresa’s unguarded back, were around his feet with their decapitated limbs.
"Your Highness, are you alright?" asked Garrett in worry, rushing towards the she-wolf.
’Brother Garrett...’ she communicated silently, her eyes telling him her fear and reliefs. Something that wasn’t usually seen in a werewolf’s eyes in this form. To many, because of the werewolves’ size and what they were known, they were just a beast who could tear anyone’s limbs with their bite.
Garrett stroked her head with his large palm before glancing at his wife. Cora was still checking Sally.
"Your Highness, we shall --"
"Brother Garrett!" Teresa abruptly stopped him in a hurry. "Brother Tom is fighting against Cedrick! He told us to retreat while he stalls time. I... he..."
Her brother-in-law’s face darkened as he breathed out deeply. "Wife," he called in a quiet voice, but Cora still heard him loud and clear from their distance.
"Tomas is fighting Cedrick." Cora’s eyes glowed in bright red, seething in anger at the news her husband told her.
"Take them to safety." That was all they heard from her as she leaped in the infirmary’s direction. Garrett and Teresa gazed at Cora’s figure before the latter gazed up at him.
"She’ll be fine," he smiled and gazed down at Teresa. Knowing his wife, she would stop at nothing when her heart was unrest.
"Let’s go."
With that being said, Garrett, Teresa, and the rest resumed their initial destination. As they were heading to the opposite side where Cora went, Garrett looked back.
He trusted his wife and her capabilities. However, she was the love of his life. Thus, he was worried.
’Return to me safely, my Corazon.’
