Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 588 - 279 Trial Island
After nearly forty days and nights of sailing, they were finally about to reach their destination. Throughout the journey, they hadn’t encountered a single island.
However, Alka had found some congregations of Dream Bubbles in his dreams, but he didn’t turn towards them. After all, he already had a goal. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Alka stood inside the lookout room, looking through the glass at the black dot on the horizon—their destination.
His eyes emitted a faint golden glow, enhancing his vision as he gazed into the distance.
No ships were anchored around the island. It seemed this island was relatively safe.
No protective reefs were visible, and the sea was calm.
The island wasn’t too large; at least, its boundaries were visible.
From afar, he could see a circular structure on the island, appearing to shoot into the sky.
As they drew closer, a towering stone tower became visible, rising over the island.
A variety of rocks floated around the stone tower, as if drawn to it, spiraling in its vicinity.
Surrounding the stone tower were various ruined structures, though some houses appeared relatively intact.
As they neared further, this view was completely obscured.
It seemed some structure encircled it, perhaps a natural slope or the island’s original cliffs.
Alka descended from the lookout room.
"How is it?"
"So far, there’s no sign of any other ships anchored around the island, but let’s sail around it first to check."
As he spoke, the Sound of Dawn began to navigate around the island, observing its conditions and allowing them to estimate its size.
It didn’t take long for them to circumnavigate the island and get a general understanding of its layout.
Most of the island’s structures appeared to be grand and massive, giving an impression of solemn grandeur.
"The Magic Power concentration on this island is extremely high," Julia said from nearby. "If you plan to go ashore, prepare yourselves mentally. Everything here could become ’activated’ by it."
"Activated? What does that mean?" Jason asked, his curiosity piqued.
"’Activated’ means that lifeless materials can transform into Magical Creatures under the influence of highly concentrated Magic Power. They still lack souls, but they gain instinctive awareness and special abilities through this Magic Power," Julia explained. Seeming afraid Jason might not fully grasp it, she paused, then added, "You can think of them as the most primitive type of Element creature."
With this explanation, everyone understood.
Element creatures were pure material beings, immune to mental and soul-based attacks. They typically only appeared in environments saturated with a single magical attribute. This was information Alka had learned from the Dream World.
After circumnavigating the island, the ship docked at a harbor suitable for landing.
Alka stood on the ship and began to share the brief information he had gleaned about the island from Mirmi’s memories.
"I don’t know the name of this island; I only learned of its existence from fragments of memory."
"This island was once a Trial Island, so be extremely careful. Even if it’s abandoned and dilapidated, some things will undoubtedly remain."
His words made everyone recall Vastva. In the long-past Age of Divinities, Vastva had been merely a small city-state surviving in a forgotten corner of the world. Yet many of its creations still endured, some even capable of being reactivated by specific linguistic triggers. This alone demonstrated the incredible level of technological prowess achieved in that age.
Furthermore, information from Mirmi indicated that this place had involved Divine construction, showing clear signs of Divine creation.
As for what constituted ’signs of Divine creation,’ Alka had no idea.
"So, where should we dock the ship?" Chadite asked.
Alka thought for a moment and said, "Let’s dock in that recess we saw earlier and camouflage the ship."
After all, they knew little about this island and its potential dangers; caution was paramount.
The Sound of Dawn then sailed into the previously spotted recess and slowly docked within.
A mirror-like liquid materialized in Alka’s hand, and he began to draw with it on the surrounding cliff walls. As he finished, the drawings transformed into a mirror-like Spell, instantly concealing the area.
Alka stood on the deck. "Let’s go. What are you thinking?" Chadite asked, noticing Alka standing there, lost in thought.
"Wait a moment," Alka said. "I have a new idea I want to test."
As Alka spoke, a Mirror Surface shimmered into existence on his face. Then, a large mirror, three meters wide and six meters high, materialized on the deck.
His Dream Catcher emerged, and another small, round mirror appeared beside it. The scene revealed within this small, round mirror was from the Dream Realm.
Pink Magic Power, mingled with gold and silver Magic Power streaming from the small, round mirror, began to etch patterns onto the large mirror’s surface. Densely packed Spells were carved onto the Mirror Surface. At first glance, they appeared incredibly complex, but upon closer inspection, most of the Spells were merely repetitions.
As he continued to carve, Alka inscribed the icon of the Compass Pupil at the center.
As the final stroke fell, the entire mirror shimmered with a different hue. Its solid structure transformed, becoming like a misty portal to the Dream Realm, somewhat hazy and indistinct.
