Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 770 - 768: The Comfort of Mutual Support (Part 1)
By the end, Little Treasure and Miss Nuonuo, including Da Bao, had their hands full with shopping bags. All the clothes and items in them belonged to the young master and miss, while the one paying with the card was none other than the big spender, Mr. Ji Dabao.
Playing the fool, Mr. Dabao had a big smile on his face, positively glowing, showing no signs of feeling swindled. Quite the contrary, his face clearly read the words: "I earn, you spend. If you’re happy, I’m happy. Feel free to take advantage of me."
In the days leading up to school, Ji Xiaobao finally enjoyed the lavish treatment akin to a little emperor which he had never experienced before.
Three meals a day, morning, noon, and evening. Whenever he proposed dining out, the entire family would accompany him without missing a member. If he desired his brother’s cooking, Da Bao would obediently put on an apron and head into the kitchen to make him something delicious. Having had two meals prepared by his brother, he then wished for his mommy’s cooking. Without hesitation, she would leave work early, carrying large bags of ingredients home.
Even his dad, who excelled only at baking cakes, upon hearing the wish for cake the next morning, would wake up before dawn to prepare it for him.
Nuonuo, acting as the sister, felt a bit guilty seeing everyone serve the little emperor. Several times she lingered at the kitchen door, wanting to showcase her skills by preparing a loving late-night snack for her brother.
Yet Little Treasure wasn’t appreciative. As soon as he saw Nuonuo heading toward the kitchen, he’d hurriedly call her back, "Sister, come back here! Leave those culinary skills of yours for someone who appreciates them. Your brother doesn’t appreciate such refined artistry."
Nuonuo gave up on the idea of trying to please him and instead bought a pile of assorted snacks, filling a suitcase for Little Treasure.
In fact, those snacks could easily be bought in Beijing. However, Master Little Treasure happily accepted them because they were his favorite snacks to eat while gaming—something no one understood better than his sister.
Ji Xiaobao had never experienced such special treatment before, and on the evening before he was to leave, he couldn’t help but step on his mommy’s scale, finding himself five pounds heavier. Fortunately, he was in a growth spurt, tall and slender, so the extra weight didn’t make him seem any chubbier.
Still, his slightly vain nature couldn’t quite accept the fact he had "put on weight." Stepping off the scale, he returned to sit beside Nuonuo with a troubled expression.
"Sister, I’ve gained five pounds." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Nuonuo leaned in for a closer look, poked his cheeks with a finger, "Not fat, just right. Besides, when you get to B University, you might not adapt to the environment. You might slim down quickly because the cafeteria food is so peculiar, so what’s there to fear?"
Little Treasure rolled his eyes at her, "Sister, is that how you comfort someone?"
At that moment, Da Bao came out carrying a tray of steaming desserts, "Are you not eating the rock sugar bird’s nest soup that mommy made?"
Little Treasure sprang up, darted over to Da Bao, and picked the fullest bowl, showing that his earlier worries were no match for the allure of good food.
The next morning, with Mr. Ji accompanying them, the Ji Family headed to the airport to send Little Treasure off. Along with a line of bodyguards trailing behind with luggage, the spectacle was even grander than when Da Bao went abroad three years ago.
Le Tong, usually not one for nagging, seized the opportunity to give Little Treasure countless reminders. Little Treasure, without a hint of impatience, obediently hugged her shoulder, nodding in agreement after each instruction.
Neither Le Tong, Ji Rui, Da Bao, nor Nuonuo accompanied Little Treasure to Beijing. For one, the journey wasn’t far, and it was easy to meet by flying back on weekends. Moreover, since Yang Sheng, acting as his uncle, had fully taken over matters there, there was no need for anyone from the Ji Family to step in.
The children of the Ji and Yang families were always very close. Since Yang Sheng reassured them, Le Tong and the others didn’t hesitate, allowing Little Treasure to head through the gate accompanied by two bodyguards.
After sending Little Treasure off, the Ji family, originally five, became four.
For Nuonuo, the adjustment was the hardest.
"Little Treasure..."
Returning home from school, Nuonuo routinely practiced violin in the sitting room. Suddenly, she shouted, "Wasn’t that rhythm a bit off just now?"
Receiving no response for a long time, she turned her head, seeing the empty living room. The figure, who usually lounged on the sofa, gaming and listening to her play, was gone, leaving only echoes of solitude throughout the house.
Nuonuo frowned, feeling as though something was missing, a hollow emptiness that was quite uncomfortable.
Laying down her violin, Nuonuo went outside to the yard, playing with Big Gray and Big Black. The two large dogs nudged her palm with their heads, softly whining, even their eyes showing a bit of pitifulness.
"Big Gray, Big Black, do you miss Little Treasure like I do?"
Kneeling on the grass, Nuonuo gently stroked the dogs’ heads. The dogs seemed to understand her words, looking even more pitiful and whining softly.
"Ah... Little Treasure has gone off to B University. Now, he might only come home every two weeks, maybe even once a month..."
Psychologically, Nuonuo felt more reliant on Da Bao, but physically, having often been inseparable from Little Treasure, she seemed more accustomed to his presence by her side.
After all, since Little Treasure was born, they had hardly been apart, whether playing at home during childhood or going to and from kindergarten together. Until she started middle school and Little Treasure skipped to high school, they were in separate classrooms, yet their closeness never diminished.
Especially during the three years Da Bao was abroad—it marked the lowest point in Nuonuo’s life so far. Despite his cheeky demeanor, Little Treasure had been by her side, helping her through her most depressing and difficult times.
She didn’t have the dependency on Little Treasure as she did with Da Bao, but there was a comforting sense of mutual support among siblings.
Now, with Little Treasure gone from R City, temporarily absent from her life, she suddenly felt as if she was limping, not enough to halt her, but certainly enough to make progress cumbersome.
Finding solace in the shared plight with the two dogs, Nuonuo poured out her heart in the yard. The dogs, seemingly comprehending her words, occasionally whimpered in response.
As the sun set, the shadows of one person and two dogs stretched out long across the grass...
