Chapter 732: Chapter 730 For the Person He Likes. Part 2 (5th Update)

Ji Rui was still confused, "Someone he likes? Da Bao has a girl he likes?"

Le Tong let go of Da Bao, patted his face to comfort him, "Son, don’t mind your dad, he’s dumb as a pig."

Da Bao smiled and nodded, "Yeah, poor mom, living with a pig all these years."

Seeing her son’s mood seemed pretty good, Le Tong finally felt a bit relieved.

"Have you really thought it all through?"

Da Bao nodded firmly, "Yes, I’ve been thinking about it for half a year now, so mom, you don’t have to worry about me, I’m okay!"

Le Tong felt very bittersweet, but her face was still full of smiles.

"Okay then, since you’ve already planned everything, I’ll hold my tongue. We’ll talk more about your study abroad later, but for now, let’s finish the meeting first."

Studying abroad is such a big deal, it naturally can’t be as simple as going back to a college dorm. There are many details that will seem to require a lot of time to discuss privately.

"Yes, that’s what I mean too."

After getting Da Bao’s agreement, the board meeting proceeded as usual.

The matter of Da Bao resigning had already been settled, and Ji Rui, as both Chairman and CEO, immediately approved his resignation.

Da Bao had spent the last half year preparing for his resignation. He proposed appointing Zhong Hao as the General Manager of Huagang, while Zhong Hao’s original position would be replaced by the manager of a small company acquired a few months ago.

Ji Rui and the board fully accepted Da Bao’s proposal. Given the outstanding performance Da Bao had contributed to the company in the past few years, all board members approved, and in accordance with Ji Family tradition, gave Da Bao a hefty allowance.

After the board meeting ended, the three of them returned to Ji Rui’s office, closed the door, and it was time for a family meeting.

"Da Bao, tell us specifically, what else needs to be done next? We can help you with it."

Ji Rui, as a parent, had long accepted the fact his son was going to study abroad; now, he just wanted to help his son solve the remaining issues.

Da Bao shook his head, "Dad, there’s nothing else. I’ve taken care of everything!"

Ji Rui and Le Tong looked at him incredulously. After a while, Le Tong finally reacted, "So, you were staying on campus this semester just to handle all the study abroad matters?"

Da Bao nodded.

"Yes, actually, last year I was already offered a full scholarship by this school. At that time, I didn’t intend to go abroad, so I declined. Later on, I changed my mind and called them again, and they told me the spot was still reserved for me. This semester, I’ve handled all the paperwork, and I’ve asked someone to buy a small apartment near the school over there, which should be furnished by now for me to move in when I arrive."

Le Tong had always known her son was independent and capable, but she didn’t expect him to be this capable.

"Baby, I feel very ashamed!"

As parents, they’ve really done too little for him.

Da Bao hugged her, comforting her, "Mom, I’m not a child anymore. It’s right that I do these things myself. If I had to rely on you to handle even these matters, how worried would you be during the three years I’m abroad?"

Although Da Bao made a solid argument, Ji Rui and Le Tong still felt uncomfortable for quite a while.

"Alright then, you don’t need to worry about us anymore. You should focus on preparing how to explain to the two little ones at home."

Le Tong knew the real challenge awaited him.

The smile on Da Bao’s face gradually faded, his handsome face clouded with slight melancholy.

"Mom, I’m really afraid they’ll hate me!"

Da Bao and Le Tong’s fears soon came true.

When Nuonuo and Little Treasure heard that Da Bao was going to study abroad for three years, both became mute.

The two little ones stared wide-eyed at Da Bao, and moments later, almost simultaneously, they ran up to Da Bao, each lifting a foot to kick him hard, and then they ran back to their separate rooms with "thud, thud, thud" and slammed the doors shut!

Da Bao and Le Tong exchanged glances, while Ji Rui stood to the side helplessly with a shrug, indicating he felt powerless to help.

"I’ll try to coax Little Treasure; you try to talk to Nuonuo!"

Le Tong patted her son’s back, giving him a gentle push.

Da Bao forced a smile, "Hmm, if only she’d open the door to let me talk."

Love is mutual, as they say, and after all these years, the depth of Da Bao’s love for Nuonuo is matched by her love for him.

Of course, for Nuonuo, this kind of love is limited to that between siblings, since at her age, she simply can’t understand what kind of feelings she has.

Da Bao understands Nuonuo better than anyone; if she wasn’t really upset, she wouldn’t have the heart to lay a finger on her Brother Dabao.

And now, Da Bao’s leg hurt so much it nearly brought him to tears!

Or, perhaps he couldn’t tell if the pain was in his leg or in his heart.

"Nuonuo, please open the door, okay?"

Da Bao stood outside the door, gently tapping on it.

He thought the little girl wouldn’t open the door for him.

Unexpectedly, just a gentle query was immediately followed by the sound of the lock clicking open.

Da Bao pushed the door open and peeked inside, seeing Nuonuo sitting by the door with her knees held up, her face completely hidden.

Da Bao slipped inside; the bedroom was eerily silent.

"Nuonuo..." Da Bao squatted down, placing his hands on the little girl’s shoulders. He lowered his head, trying to get her to look up at him, but with his hands, he could clearly feel the little girl’s shoulders trembling slightly.

"Plop, plop..."

Although the sound was very subtle, it was clearly heard in Da Bao’s ears. His heart tightened as he lowered his head to see that beneath Nuonuo, it seemed a storm was pouring, tears cascading nonstop onto the carpet.

"Nuonuo, I’m sorry!"

Da Bao wanted to cry too, but he couldn’t. All he could do was gently hold the heartbroken little girl in his arms.

Nuonuo suddenly grabbed at his clothes, burying her face hard into his embrace.

"Brother, why are you leaving me?" Her tearful screams tore Da Bao’s heart into pieces.

"Nuonuo, I’m sorry..." Da Bao felt warmth and wetness at the corners of his eyes, sensing hot tears streaming down his face, but he couldn’t care, just kept gently stroking the little girl’s back in hopes of stopping her tears.

"Brother, is it because I’m not obedient, or not smart enough, that you’re going to study abroad?" The little girl, in his arms, seemed to think his departure was all because of her.

In truth, her Brother Dabao’s leaving was indeed because of her, but the real reason was beyond the understanding of a not-quite-twelve-year-old.

"Nuonuo, Brother just wants to go out and learn more, it’s not your fault! It’s my fault!" Da Bao was filled with self-blame; if he hadn’t fallen in love with her, this separation wouldn’t have happened.

"Brother, don’t go, okay? Stay with me, okay?" Nuonuo lifted her head, rubbing her tearful face against Da Bao’s, begging pitifully.
