Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 701 - 699: Ultimately a Delusion (Fourth Update)
The Ji Family consists of five people, and apart from Nuonuo, all are strong-willed individuals.
Thus, Nuonuo, being a rare species, becomes the common protection target of the other four.
In the past, Da Bao would spank Little Treasure for teasing Nuonuo with his cunning pranks, but now, Little Treasure stands up for Sister when Brother is neglectful.
Nuonuo woke up the next day with slightly swollen eyes; any keen observer could tell she’d cried. Yet, apart from the careless gossip from Yin Zhihao, no one in the Ji Family asked more.
It was only that Da Bao heard similar complaints from Mommy as those from Little Treasure.
Of course, Mommy expressed it more tactfully, but the meaning was undoubtedly the same.
Da Bao could only promise again that once he finished his tasks, he’d move back home.
After breakfast, Uncle Yin began arranging everyone’s schedule; Nuonuo stayed close to Da Bao regardless, determined wherever Brother went, she would follow.
Originally, Da Bao promised Ji Rui to go fishing. Seeing his daughter’s anxious look as if someone would take her Brother Da Bao away, Ji Rui took the fishing rod, intending to fish on his own, saying it didn’t matter.
The saying "husband sings, wife accompanies" fits couples like Ji Rui and Le Tong perfectly.
Watching Ji Rui march forward alone with his gear, Le Tong, who planned to lead the kids and workers up the mountain for tea leaf picking, hastily instructed Da Bao to look after brother and sister well before running to Ji Rui.
"Ji Rui, wait for me!"
Ji Rui, hearing the call, stopped and turned around to look at her, surprised. "Why did you come? Weren’t you supposed to accompany the kids to pick tea leaves?"
"The children are so big now; let them play on their own. It’s rare for us old couple to spend time alone, isn’t it nice?"
Ji Rui didn’t answer but extended his hand to her with a smile.
Outside the courtyard, Yin Zhihao watched the middle-aged couple hold hands affectionately as they walked ahead, uttering with envy, "Da Bao, your dad and mommy have such a good relationship. Even as an old couple, they show more love than us young folks dating."
Da Bao also looked at his parents along with him, replying indifferently.
"My dad and mommy aren’t showing off; their relationship is genuinely good!"
In Da Bao’s memory, after his parents married, they’ve rarely quarreled; if there were minor disagreements, they’d never have big arguments. One would always willingly admit fault first.
Outside, when they didn’t need to care for the children, Dad would either embrace or hold hands with Mommy as they walked, maintaining this loving state for over a decade.
Presumably, this kind of close and affectionate relationship will continue in the future.
Let alone Yin Zhihao, an outsider, feeling envious, even Da Bao, as their son, feels envious and proud.
Realizing this, Da Bao naturally glanced at Nuonuo.
As if telepathically connected, Nuonuo also raised her head to look at him. Their gazes unexpectedly met, and Da Bao didn’t feel much about it, but Nuonuo, seemingly stung by something, hastily turned away. Da Bao felt puzzled but caught sight of her ear tips blushing under the sun...
Could it be that this girl is recalling yesterday’s kiss?
Thinking about this possibility, Da Bao felt slightly uncomfortable too.
Luckily, a few workers happened to pass by, each handing a basket for holding tea leaves to everybody. Da Bao reached out, took his, and habitually held Nuonuo’s hand, following the tea-picking workers along the path up the mountain.
Nuonuo was very silent along the way, quite unlike her usual self.
Though usually timid, she was lively and talkative in front of acquaintances, especially in front of Da Bao, where she had endless things to say.
Da Bao thought she was embarrassed about last night’s incident. "Nuonuo, are you still mad at Brother?"
He wasn’t sure how Nuonuo felt about the boundary-crossing kiss last night; of course, he had hoped she’d understand the affection behind it. Then, whether she rejected or accepted him, he wouldn’t have to suppress himself so painfully.
Thus, he boldly brought up last night’s matter.
Nuonuo raised her eyes to look at him, then wrapped one hand around Da Bao’s arm, pressing tightly against him. "Nuonuo isn’t mad at Brother..."
Nuonuo’s response was the same as always. In her eyes, he saw the same dependence and respect as before but didn’t see the infatuation or similar emotions he desired.
Perhaps, she’s still too young!
Da Bao, feeling a bit helpless and sympathetic, ruffled her hair, switching topics. "The wind is strong, why didn’t you wear a hat out?"
Since he knows it’s a wishful thought and won’t get the answer he wants, why keep torturing himself?
"I forgot to take one..."
Though timid and not as smart as the brothers, Nuonuo is always meticulous and thorough—something Little Treasure, so careless, doesn’t have.
This usually attentive little girl forgetting to bring a hat shows how distracted she’s been lately.
As the person causing her moodiness, how could he blame her now?
Da Bao exerted some strength and pulled his arm out from Nuonuo’s embrace; Nuonuo immediately looked at him unhappily.
Without explanation, Da Bao proficiently took off the scarf from his neck, let Nuonuo stand still, wrapped it around her head, and skillfully turned it into a hat of sorts resting neatly on Nuonuo’s head.
Nuonuo touched the makeshift hat on her head, then looked at Da Bao’s now exposed neck, couldn’t help but cringe and pointed to it.
"Brother, aren’t you cold?"
Da Bao zipped his jacket up to his chin, flipped the hood onto his head.
"I’m not cold. Your Brother Da Bao is strong as an ox!"
While Da Bao was bragging, in the distance, the always nimble Little Treasure, already nearing the mountain top, was shouting at the two of them with hands on his hips.
"Brother, Sister, are you two not full? Why are you walking so slowly?"
Da Bao couldn’t help but remember the mountain hike during the October holiday, his gaze naturally falling on Nuonuo’s feet.
"Nuonuo, does the area you sprained last time still hurt?"
Injuries to tendons and bones require slow healing. So after returning, Le Tong specially visited Doctor Fu for some herbal medicine to soak Nuonuo’s feet every couple of days.
"It doesn’t hurt anymore, Mommy was making a fuss."
The little princess, always protected, occasionally protests the family’s overprotection.
However, her strength is minimal, and she always falls in defeat with a one-to-four disadvantage, ending in ineffective protests!
