Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 608 - 606 "Da Bao ’Upholding Justice’ (Part 1)
Little Treasure first stared wide-eyed at Da Bao, and after realizing what happened, burst into tears with a loud "wah," big teardrops rolling down his cheeks, looking so pitiful it evoked sympathy.
However, this sympathy did not extend to Da Bao.
Because he didn’t hit hard, and Little Treasure was wearing a diaper, how much could those two light taps possibly hurt?
Le Tong, holding Little Treasure, was taken aback by his superb acting skills, thinking Da Bao had really hit him hard, and quickly patted and kissed him to comfort him. Da Bao watched coldly as Little Treasure cried harder under mommy’s anxious care, crying more vigorously and convincingly.
Nuonuo, who was sitting on the sofa, heard her brother crying, rolled off to the ground and ran over, joining the effort to soothe Little Treasure.
So engrossed were they in calming him, no one heard the door open until Ji Rui’s voice sounded overhead, "Why is Little Treasure crying?" Only then did the mother and children realize the head of the household, Mr. Ji, had returned sometime unbeknownst to them.
"Daddy, Little Treasure bullied mommy, he bit mommy, and then played the victim! I just gave him two light taps on his tush, and now he’s addicted to crying!"
Though Da Bao loved his little brother, it didn’t mean he would spoil him indiscriminately. No matter how much Le Tong and Nuonuo tried to placate Little Treasure, he remained cold-eyed and uninvolved.
He knew very well that this little rascal, Little Treasure, was relying on mommy’s and sister’s indulgence to force him, as the older brother, to capitulate!
Such small tricks, he, Da Bao, had used plenty when he was young.
Le Tong wanted to explain that Little Treasure didn’t bite her, but before she could speak, Ji Rui swooped down like an eagle catching a chick, snatched Little Treasure from her arms, and before anyone, including the mischief-making Little Treasure himself, could react, Ji Rui’s big hand landed several "pops" on Little Treasure’s butt.
The worst part was that daddy’s smack was much heavier than Da Bao’s.
Little Treasure was so scared he forgot to cry, puffing his cheeks as he stared wide-eyed at his father. When he finally reacted and wailed again, Mr. Ji placed him on the carpet, sternly warning him, "No more biting mommy in the future!"
Little Treasure felt so wronged, crying and pointing his chubby finger at Le Tong’s butterfly bow to explain he didn’t bite mommy, only the bow. Unfortunately, his heart was full of grievances, but he just couldn’t express them!
Le Tong couldn’t bear to watch anymore, hurriedly crawling over to pick him up, "Oh, it’s mommy’s fault, Little Treasure didn’t bite mommy!"
Neither Ji Rui nor Da Bao intended to let Little Treasure off. Father and son spoke with equally cold tones, with no room for negotiation.
"Even if he didn’t bite, bullying is still not allowed!"
Young Little Treasure finally understood that while his brother and daddy indeed loved him, if this love was weighed against mommy’s, he’d be instantly reduced to nothing!
Because of Da Bao’s not-so-hard smacks, Little Treasure, the small-minded little guy, ignored Da Bao for several days.
Da Bao, of course, knew he was somewhat venting when he hit the little guy, but what’s done was done, and it couldn’t be taken back. Being someone who always adored his little brother and sister, in the following days, Da Bao kept finding ways to appease Little Treasure.
However, resentful Little Treasure not only ignored his brother’s gestures of goodwill but also deliberately clung to his sister all day, insisting on staying with her whether playing during the day or sleeping at night.
Usually, Da Bao would be constantly pestered by the two little rascals to tell bedtime stories. Now that Little Treasure no longer valued his brother, he clung to mommy, or even, if push came to shove, he’d rather tug on his father, who also gave him a few heavy smacks, for stories than spare Da Bao a glance.
Though Da Bao was mature for his age, being neglected by his beloved little brother for several days made him quite uneasy.
Coincidentally, Da Bao’s official holidays had started, and he, who always cherished his brother and sister, had already planned to teach them swimming during the break, but Little Treasure clearly had different ideas.
For several days continuously, when Da Bao mentioned swimming, Little Treasure either clutched a ball and dragged Nuonuo towards the garden to play soccer, or climbed into his toy car, making sure to take Nuonuo along as he drove out of the backyard through the terrace door, without casting a glance back at Da Bao.
Initially, Da Bao figured that Little Treasure’s arrogance was getting out of hand and it was time to curb it, so for the first two or three days, he let the little guy revel in his own excitement, while he himself played with the highly realistic tank that his uncle Yang Sheng had recently gotten him in the playroom.
But by the fourth day, Da Bao couldn’t stand it anymore.
The reason wasn’t that he couldn’t bear the cold shoulder from Little Treasure, but because oblivious Nuonuo was constantly deceived by Little Treasure’s feigned pitiful demeanor, tirelessly trailing after him day and night, inadvertently neglecting Da Bao.
So after breakfast that day, as usual, Da Bao held Nuonuo and Little Treasure’s hands, escorting daddy and mommy to the door. Watching their parents get into the car and drive out of the yard, Da Bao released Little Treasure’s hand, bent down to scoop up Nuonuo, "Nuonuo, how about playing Barbie dress-up today?"
This was little Nuonuo’s favorite game to play, except that Little Treasure never had the patience for it. Whenever he mixed into a pile of Barbie dolls, he only caused destruction. As long as he was around, not a single one of Nuonuo’s beautiful Barbie dolls was spared from losing a head or an arm or leg, so gradually Nuonuo became very reluctant to let Little Treasure touch her Barbies, even though she really loved her brother.
"Sister! Sister!"
Seeing his brother and sister about to leave him at the door and not take him along, Little Treasure panicked and tried to pull Nuonuo, but nine-year-old Da Bao was far taller than nearly one-year-old Little Treasure, so Little Treasure could only tug on Da Bao’s pants, looking up pitifully.
Having been ignored by this petty little fellow for a few days, Da Bao naturally wouldn’t let him off so easily, shaking Little Treasure’s hand away and carrying Nuonuo back into the house.
Little Treasure stood at the door, pouting with his head down, expecting his brother and sister to come out and coax him back in after a while, as was the usual routine.
But today, after heading inside, the brother and sister lay on the carpet playing for quite some time without glancing back at him, as if they had completely forgotten the Little Treasure outside the door.
Meanwhile, inside, Da Bao and Nuonuo were discussing him.
"Brother, Little Treasure will cry," Nuonuo, ever the dutiful sister, worried her brother might feel afraid alone in the yard.
This little girl had no idea that her brother’s courage exceeded even her imagination.
"Nuonuo, Little Treasure is just pretending," Da Bao felt obliged to tell the silly girl that her brother wasn’t as fragile and kind-hearted as she imagined. Otherwise, when Little Treasure grew a bit older, the silly girl would only end up being bullied.
