"Can I come in?" Tao Luqi asked softly. She was glad when she heard that Dai Shuo was alright and sustained only minor injuries from his accident.

Dai Shuo looked away from her and before he could say anything, he heard his sister saying "Are you here to cause him more hurt? Just go away Tao Luqi, go be with Fu Mingze."

"Dai Qiao, that’s enough. I would like to have a word with Luqi alone." Dai Shuo suddenly said, finally turning his gaze to Tao Luqi.

Dai Qiao wanted to argue but decided against it. She carried her purse and left the room.

"How are you feeling?" Tao Luqi asked as she walked closer to him.

"My heart hurts more than my body." Dai Shuo replied.

"I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen."

"You told me you were going to a fashion show and I trusted you. How could you do this to me Tao Luqi? You broke my trust and you broke my heart. When Ye Qingyi told me that you and Fu Mingze were in Zane City together, I didn’t believe her, I drove her out of my office but then those pictures of you two kissing arrived. It felt like my heart was breaking into pieces."

"Pictures? There were pictures of Fu Mingze and me kissing. Who sent it?"

"It’s that really what you are concerned about? You are more worried about who sent it than your wrong deeds?" Dai Shuo asked with a frown.

"Dai Shuo." Tao Luqi softly called out.

"I know you are confused and Fu Mingze might have taken advantage of that confusion, but I am ready to forgive you and go ahead with our marriage. We can leave this country if that is what you want, we can start over at another place and continue our life here. I can grow my company without the help of the Fu group but I can’t live without you and Tao Mei. Let’s just start over, Tao Luqi."

"I...I can’t." Tao Luqi said softly, her eyes became teary as she said more confidently "I can’t marry you Dai Shuo, I can’t."

"What... what are you saying?"

"I’m sorry. I’m sorry for all the hurt I have caused you and if you wish to never forgive me then it’s alright but I can’t marry you Dai Shuo. I don’t love you. At first, I thought I could grow to love you but...."

"I don’t care, saving that child’s life is more important than me thinking about the risk."

"You have a child of your own Tao Luqi, if anything happens to you then who will take care of Tao Mei?" Dai Shuo asked in anger.

"Then should I sit back and watch a small child lose his life."

"Fu Liang isn’t your child, you have no obligation to save his life." Dai Shuo shouted.

Seeing the disappointed look on Tao Luqi’s face, Dai Shuo took in a deep breath and said "You love Fu Liang, I get it. If Tao Mei was in Fu Liang’s position then I would have done anything to save her and that includes giving her my liver but Tao Luqi, you don’t have to do this. The Fu family is rich and they can find another donor for their child. Just come with me Tao Luqi, we can leave immediately if that’s what you want but don’t choose him over me, at least don’t choose Fu Liang over Tao Mei."

"He calls me his mother. Anytime that kid sees me, he calls out to me in excitement and if you think that I would leave him alone in that condition then you don’t know me. Fu Liang and Tao Mei are both my kids and I will never abandon any of them."

"Tao Luqi, you aren’t thinking properly. Take some time and think this through." Dai Shuo said softly, he felt his heart shattering and he wanted to do anything to save their relationship.

"Thank you for taking care of me and Tao Mei. Thank you for being my friend and for being a father to Tao Mei, I hope you recover soon." Tao Luqi said. She brought out a ring from her pocket and put it on the table side close to Dai Shuo’s bed.

"I hope one day you and Dai Qiao will forgive me and we will continue our relationship as friends because I do not wish to lose you as a friend, Dai Shuo." Tao Luqi said with tears in her eyes.

Dai Shuo bit his tongue and tried hard to blink back his tears as he looked at the ring placed on the table, he turned away from her and said "Just go away. I truly hope Tao Mei doesn’t suffer from your decision."

Tao Luqi nodded and slowly left his ward. As soon as she left Dai Shuo ward, Tao Luqi gently placed her head on the door and began crying.

"A pretty lady like you shouldn’t ruin your beautiful face with tears." A voice said.

Tao Luqi frowned as she turned to the owner of the voice, she wiped her tears and asked "Do I know you?"

"I was hoping you do, I’m Zhang Chun."
