It was raining heavily when Fu Mingze arrived at his destination. He stayed in his car for a few more minutes before getting out with his umbrella and a single yellow rose that was on the passenger seat of his car.

Fu Mingze walked further to a grave that had Yang Meiyi’s name on it.

He gently placed the yellow rose on the grave and the umbrella fell to the floor as he fell to his knees.

Fu Mingze just knelt there without saying anything, allowing the rain to drench him.

After a few minutes of kneeling in silence, Fu Mingze finally said "I’m going to get engaged to Ye Qingyi and then we will get married. Don’t think that I’m moving on without you because you know that’s impossible, a day has never passed without me thinking of you. I miss you so much, Meiyi."

Fu Mingze smiled softly as he said "I still remember the first time you told everyone that you wanted to marry me, to be honest, I thought you were just a crazy kid, I mean, you were ten and I was eighteen, it was practically impossible but I started falling for you when you were seventeen and you know what? Even to this day, I still remember our first kiss, I still remember all the moments we shared as if it was yesterday and it isn’t fair.

It just isn’t fair that you are not here with me and Fu Liang. He still waits for you, he thinks you are going to come back one day and you should see how grown he is. He is so intelligent but a little naughty." Fu Mingze said, he suddenly let out a short laugh as he said "Okay, he is a lot naughty, but to me he is perfect."

"I take him to the hospital two times a week to get a regular check-up, especially on his heart and so far the doctor says his heart is fine but there are times I still get scared." Fu Mingze said and suddenly became silent, only the patters of the rain were heard for a while and then a soft sob was also heard.

Fu Mingze cried and allowed the rain to wash his tears away, he slowly stood up and said "I will always love you and in our next life, let’s truly live happily together. You will always be my first and last love, Meiyi. Never you doubt that."

Fu Liang looked to the window and then to his door, his dad has never failed to give him a goodnight kiss so he wondered why his dad has not entered his room yet. He heard a car noise a few minutes ago so he was sure his dad has returned from his office. Could it be, that he fell asleep without checking up on his son first?

"Daddy?" Fu Liang called out but there was no answer.

He was about to leave when Fu Mingze came out of the bathroom tying a robe and cleaning his hair with a towel.

Fu Mingze smiled when he saw his son’s worried face and said "You keep claiming that you are a big boy but look at you, you are about to cry from not seeing your father."

Rather than replying, Fu Liang rushed to his dad and hugged his legs without saying anything.

Fu Mingze smiled and ruffled his son’s hair, he slightly pulled him away as he crouched down and asked "What’s wrong? Did something happen at your school?"

Fu Liang shook his head.

"You only get this sensitive when something happens so tell me, did someone say something to you?" Fu Mingze asked with a serious look in his eyes.

Fu Liang looked away from his father and said "I mistakenly bit a classmate’s ear."

Fu Mingze frowned and asked "How do you mistakenly bite someone’s ear? Fu Liang, did you fight at school?"

Fu Liang looked at his father and suddenly started crying "He was making fun of me and my teeth were closer to his ears."

"So you bit it?" Fu Mingze asked in disbelief. He took a deep breath and asked "Didn’t your teacher ask to see me?"

Fu Liang nodded.

Fu Mingze sighed and wiped his son’s tears as he said "That’s enough, no more crying, okay? Daddy will handle it but first I need to know what caused the fight and no lying."

Fu Liang immediately nodded and said, "He said mean things to me and said mom left me because I am a bad child and very soon even you would leave me."

"What? A kid said that to you?" Fu Mingze asked in surprise.

Fu Liang nodded and hid his face in his father’s chest, he knew his dad had a heart surgery, in fact whenever he saw the scar on his father’s chest, he felt scared and wondered if his dad was truly alright.

"You won’t leave me, right?" Fu Liang found himself asking, he didn’t even realize that the question he has always kept in his heart came out of his mouth without his permission.

Fu Mingze became still for a moment when he heard his son question, he tightly embraced the five-year-old boy and said "Daddy promise that he will never leave you. It’s me and you against the world, never forget that."

"I love you, Dad."

Fu Mingze smiled as he whispered, "My little boy, I love you too."

Tao Luqi looked at her sleeping daughter with a smile and studied her features. When she woke up in the hospital with no memories and found out that she was also pregnant, words could not even describe her terrified she was. Thankfully, her dad was there for her, she had felt completely lost when she found out that there was someone with her in the car but he did not make it.

Her dad thought that perhaps that man was the father of Tao Mei but for some reason, Tao Luqi felt differently. She found it even more surprising to learn that she had run away from home for three years and her family only reunited with her after the accident.

She did not remember anything but she was ninety percent sure that the man in the car with her was not her daughter’s father, she felt it was someone else but who?

Tao Luqi looked at the rain through the window and wondered if it even mattered anymore, the doctor had told her that her amnesia may be a permanent one. Perhaps, it was for the best, so why think about the past? Now she should only think about the future, her future with Dai Shuo and Tao Mei. Only that future matters and not a past that she cannot even remember.
