Transmigrating to the BeastWorld,I Picked Up an Adorable BeastHusband!-Chapter 27:She loved his attention to detail
She stopped, gasping for breath.
Weijie’s laugh echoed softly, low and warm, bouncing off the cliff walls.
Ningning froze. Was he... not angry?
"Let’s clean those tears..." His hands were gentle as he lifted her chin, tilting her face toward him.
"Are you not angry?!" Her voice rose, a mix of fear and disbelief.
"No, not at you." he said calmly. "But, I am very angry... that he touched my female. But I am not angry at you. He is not your mate. The bite means nothing unless the female, you accept him. Nothing will happen without your consent. You do not need to worry."
Ningning felt the tension in her chest loosen slightly.
She rested her head against him, the warmth from his broad chest seeping into her bones.
Doudou’s voice rang in her mind, half exasperated, half amused.
[This was what I was trying to tell you. Females choose their mates here and not the other way around. You were too blinded by guilt to see that.]
"I feel like a fool.." she murmured.
[It’s okay. It just shows how much you value this relationship. We better get something for that bite though, it’s 3000 bc and hygiene isn’t exactly all the range here. I’ll recommend you find these herbs, don’t worry it’s not a mission. It can be easily found around this settlement.]
"Okay.." Ningning sighed, relief washing over her. Then she felt Weijie’s finger on her chin.
"I have something to show you. Let’s go inside.."
Ningning was pulled in before she could even reply.
That was when she noticed it.
Weijie had been busy since she left.
What impressed her the most was the half made door at the corner.
Did he read her mind? How did he know it was safer with a door?
[The human brain constantly evolves. Don’t be surprised. Your dear mate is part of the smart ones. If it were modern times, he’d probably be a tycoon and it seems he’s very good at craft.]
Ningning nodded he was right, Weijie was oddly good at craft, no wonder he was the tribe’s top male.
"I made this quilt. It will keep you warm at night, though I will always be here to keep you warm but if there’s a day I’m not here, you must use this. It is very cold at night."
Ningning walked to the quilt and touched it, a smile immediately on her face.
She loved Weijie’s attention to detail.
The quilt was soft, she wondered how many hours he had spent making it.
"Thank you. I love it."
She didn’t think there would be a time when in her life where a man would make a huge ass blanket for her.
[Bare minimum just went through the roof.]
Weijie smiled as he left the bedding area and walked to the stone table. Holding a pair of what looked at sandals.
"I made this for you, your feet are small so it should fit. If it doesn’t I will adjust it. Your feet are too beautiful for you to leave bare.."
Ningning was speechless. She stood there, staring at the sandals in his hands, her chest tightening in a way she couldn’t explain.
They weren’t refined or pretty in the modern sense, but she could tell immediately how much care had gone into them.
The soles were woven from dried wild grass and softened bark fiber, layered tightly together.
The edges had been smoothed again and again until no sharp strand stuck out. The straps were narrow but sturdy, braided carefully so they wouldn’t prick her skin.
Weijie crouched in front of her without hesitation.
"Sit." he said gently.
Before she could react, he had already lifted her foot into his hands. His grip was warm and careful, as though he were holding something fragile.
He brushed the dust and grit from her skin with his thumb, slow and patient, making sure nothing remained between her toes.
Then he eased the sandal onto her foot.
He adjusted the strap, tightening it just enough so it wouldn’t slip, then paused, watching her expression.
When he was satisfied, he nodded slightly and moved to her other foot, repeating the same careful motions.
"I spent a long time smoothing them." he said quietly. "The fibers are rough at first. If I didn’t soften them, they would hurt you."
Ningning smiled, they were comfortable "Thank you."
Weijie smiled, it wasn’t a big deal. He was doing what he could for her and to the best of his abilities.
"You are my mate. I will take care of you. Even if it costs me my life, I will not let harm come to you. And I will not let you walk barefoot on stone."
Her fingers curled slightly at her sides.
No one had ever said such words to her so plainly.
No promises dressed up in romance.
Just certainty.
She wanted to do something for him. But what?
[DING! DING! MISSION TASK UPDATE.]
[Task Two: Become acquainted with the women of the snake tribe. Priority focus on Weijie’s childhood friend, Una.]
[You have 59% left to completion of the task, you have spent 10 hours out of the 16 hours and have 6 hours left.]
-_-
"What?! What do you mean i have 59% left to complete the task, after all I went through, shouldn’t it be a task completion update?!"
[-_-]
"What do you mean I’m not even halfway done." she hissed inwardly. "After everything I went through today, getting bitten, chased, humiliated, and traumatized. You’re telling me I’m not even halfway done?!"
Doudou’s response was calm. Too calm.
[Emotional distress does not equal task completion.]
"What are you trying to achieve? Wasn’t the task to get acquainted? That’s what I did, this feels rigged. Doudou I didn’t think you’d be this unfair. How acquainted can one get in 16 hours?"
Doudou sighed, he was never unfair they just had different opinions and his was always right.
[Let me ask you a question then. Why did you think I gave you this task?]
