Transmigrated to a Dark Fantasy World of SSS-Rank: King of the Void-Chapter 83: Ash Dragon
Marco wondered what this strange premonition was that ran down his entire spine. Stepping out of one of the houses with an old vase in his hands, he looked to both sides like someone about to cross a busy street.
Confused, he let the vase fall to the ground and took a step back. Then another... and another... and another... Now he was running!
Behind him, a massive cloud of ash dust chased him as if it wanted to devour him. Without understanding a single thing, he clenched his teeth and accelerated as much as he could.
His body turned into a blur in an instant. In the blink of an eye, he was already leaping across rooftops while scanning for the others. It didn’t take long before he spotted those three idiots running for their lives.
Something was chasing them; it moved through the ash cloud at great speed, slithering like a serpent, smashing through houses with its immense body.
Deep growls and roars echoed, making the ground tremble.
There was no time to waste. Marco rushed toward the group and reached them in an instant.
"I need you to explain what the hell is going on," he said, clearly irritated.
Mitsuki almost fell flat on his face when Marco appeared out of nowhere—he genuinely got scared—but he managed to recover and keep running.
Breathing heavily, Monar said:
"Azel woke up the dragon."
"I didn’t wake it up! It was already awake!"
"It doesn’t matter whether you woke it or not!" Marco snapped. "You dragged it out of its hiding place, you idiot!"
"That wasn’t my intention!"
Mitsuki looked back, but instantly regretted it when he saw a pair of sharp amber-colored eyes faintly glowing through the ash cloud.
’Damn it! What’s the point of arguing now that a damn dragon is chasing us?! Shouldn’t we be thinking about how we’re going to get out of this?!’
Fortunately, no one here was stupid—except for the one who thought stealing from a dragon was a good idea. Marco, as the leader, took initiative and thought fast.
"That doesn’t matter anymore. Once a dragon has seen you, there’s no escaping. We either kill it, or it kills us!"
’Like we even have another option at this point!’
Mitsuki felt like his lungs were going to burst from breathing so hard, but there was nothing he could do about it—running that fast took a lot out of him.
While the others argued, he decided to check what he had on hand, just in case.
[ Spatial Storage ( 17 / 20 )
Igor (Double-Barrel Shotgun), Viktor (Shapeshifting Sword), Bottles of Ambrosia, Prince Arthur’s Testament, Ancient Locket, Coin Pouch, Heavy Backpack (x10 capacity), Silver Spoons. ]
The bottles were something Mitsuki had seen from the very beginning, but he had never bothered to check what they were. What the hell were they? The name was pretty obvious, to be honest.
’I need the description of this thing!’
[ Bottle of Ambrosia:
An ancient elixir whose healing properties can save a person from death. ]
’Damn. This is actually useful!’
Back with the others, Marco looked at the beast, whose enormous shadow was terrifying within the cloud of ash. Its membranous wings, torn and consumed by the curse, spread open with a violent motion. Then, the creature launched itself forward with a powerful leap, flapping its wings and positioning itself right in front of them.
Its powerful legs with razor-sharp claws shattered the ground; its long, scaled body—tainted by the curse that stained its greenish skin gray—exuded a faint trail of ash. Two large black horns rested upon its head, along with sharp eyes and an elongated jaw.
The group came to an abrupt halt. Mitsuki couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
’So this is what a dragon looks like...’
It was far more terrifying to stand before a real one than to see it through a screen.
Monar raised his staff, focusing.
The beast didn’t seem to have any intention of attacking immediately. In fact, it observed them analytically, tilting its head with curiosity, as if it had never seen a person before.
"Listen. We need to split up to prepare the attack," said the dark elf.
Azel showed a nervous smile. Marco gripped the sheath of his sword, and Mitsuki materialized his shotgun.
’Seriously, why the hell do these things always happen to me?’
[ The title "Prince of Misfortune" is in effect. ]
’Oh... Right... that’s why.’
The beast, not stupid in the slightest, growled upon hearing Monar’s words. It opened its jaws filled with blade-like teeth, roaring with immense force and releasing a massive amount of ash that spread around the group.
At that moment, their protection against the curse activated, revealing a faint magical veil surrounding them. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Marco felt a chill run down his spine.
"Oh, no..."
Click... A sharp sound came from the beast’s throat. A spark ignited inside its mouth.
"Shit! Run!"
At the leader’s shout, Azel leapt onto a nearby rooftop. Monar wasted no time and did the same, grabbing Mitsuki by the coat.
Marco followed them. An instant later, that small spark exploded, igniting all the ash scattered throughout the village and flooding the structures with crimson flames that burned with a light comparable to the sun.
The group barely managed to escape the flames that swept through the streets, but the dragon wasn’t about to let them rest.
Its wings spread wide, smashing through the walls at its sides. A single flap extinguished the flames around it and allowed it to rise into the air above the tiny, pathetic humans who stared at it with expressions of shock and concern.
"It’s the fire-breathing type," Monar muttered.
"That means it’s weak to water magic," Marco added.
Azel smiled.
"Water, you say? Looks like we got lucky."
Mitsuki’s eyes gleamed as a strategy began to take shape.
’Weak to water? I can use water magic!’
Unfortunately, the dragon wasn’t going to wait. It inhaled a massive amount of air as its throat began to glow like red-hot metal. The atmosphere around it grew heavy, just like the ash from its body, which continued forming clouds along the ground.
Once again, the group was forced to dodge, jumping to the next rooftop. The flame burst forth from the creature’s mouth, and it turned its head—aiming directly at Mitsuki.
