When Luciel heard the screams, he immediately thought that there was trouble. And even though he was reluctant to deal with trouble again, as he had just dealt with troublesome people, he still immediately looked toward those who were screaming, as they certainly wouldn’t just scream for no reason.

When he looked at those who had screamed, he saw that they were looking at the sky, so he also looked up in the direction where they were staring and saw dark shapes in the sky getting nearer to the base.

Looking at the shapes in the sky, they were obviously birds, just like the ones that had attacked the base a few months ago.

He understood why some people had screamed after seeing those shapes in the sky again, as they were probably reminded of what had happened before.

Luciel looked at the shapes and quickly noticed that the flock was actually divided into two. A smaller shadow was in front, while the shadow at the back was a bit farther away but obviously larger.

"Ah, fuck! Can’t we just have a peaceful New Year?" Luciel said while still looking at the sky. If his guess was correct, then the base was likely in more trouble than before.

He immediately hurried back to their villa, as he was already near the villa community.

The people who had already noticed the birds in the sky were also hurrying somewhere.

So he grew some vines and started using them to get back to the villa faster by hooking them onto tall trees or nearby buildings while avoiding the people who were also hurrying somewhere else.

While he was hurrying back, the base alarm sounded, followed by warning announcements calling for ability users to fight.

They were asking ordinary people to immediately find sturdy shelters or go to the military if they were nearby.

Then, they asked the ability users with stronger powers to come out and fight with them.

And just as he guessed, the base was indeed in greater danger, as they announced that mutant birds and zombie birds were heading toward the base.

It was obvious that the flocks of mutant birds had attacked the flocks of zombie birds, and they were probably trying to get rid of them.

Mutant birds had already become more intelligent than before, so they were probably heading to the North Base because they knew there were a lot of humans there who would attract the zombie birds.

While thinking, he arrived at Grandpa Omar’s villa. It was still 3:00 PM, so the males in the family were obviously still in their military offices or the research center.

Treyton was also probably with his uncles, as he had gone out early that morning to talk to them about their next mission and the announcement for the second day after the New Year.

Luciel knew that probably only Aunt Cana, their maid, and their guards were in the villa, as they were preparing things for the New Year.

When he arrived, he immediately saw Aunt Cana near the door, looking outside together with their maid and some of their guards.

"Aunt Cana, come back with me to our villa; this time it’s more dangerous. I’ll just cover the whole villa here with vines."

"I know, we will go with you. But is it necessary for you to cover the whole villa with vines if all of us are leaving?" Aunt Cana asked with concern. "Won’t it just waste your power? I know you still have to fight afterward."

"No, it’s more dangerous this time because of the zombie birds. I have to cover the whole villa so that it will be easy to clean them off later."

With zombie birds attacking the base, once they managed to enter, it would be harder to clean up the mess.

Ordinary people could immediately turn into zombies if they weren’t careful and touched zombie bird remains, especially when eating or if they were already injured.

If the birds managed to enter the house, they would have to discard a lot of things, which would be a waste because there were still many valuable items in Grandpa Omar’s villa.

"Don’t worry, Aunt. I won’t consume much energy covering the villa with vines. I won’t have any problems even if I had to cover more areas like this and then fight afterwards."

While replying, he removed one of the vines he was wearing as a bracelet and immediately grew it, stepping on it to propel himself upward. He then started branching the vines outward once he was high enough.

While he was controlling the vines, his phone started ringing. He controlled the growth of the vines with one hand while reaching for his phone and answering with the other.

"What is it?"

"Ciel, I just heard that you weren’t in the villa. Where are you?" He immediately heard Treyton’s voice.

"I’m at your grandpa’s villa. I’m just covering the whole place with vines and taking Aunt Cana back to our villa once I’m done," Luciel answered while still growing the vines and coiling them, making sure there weren’t any gaps in the areas he was covering.

"Thanks. Then I won’t head back to the villa yet. I’ll head to the walls after I finish covering some parts of the military area. The military will try to keep the zombie birds outside the walls."

"Okay. I’ll take care of the protection around the villa and head out afterward. I’ll probably roam around if the military can’t contain the zombie birds outside," Luciel answered, controlling the vines while watching the flocks of birds getting closer.

"Thanks again."

"Okay, see you later," Luciel said and hung up, having finished covering the whole villa and its gardens.

"Aunt, let’s go," Luciel said after jumping down. Aunt Cana and the others were already prepared and waiting for him.

They immediately hurried back to their own villa, and when they were nearby, they saw Nathan hurrying out together with Wes.
