Chapter 498: Chapter 497: Some new rules

All ten rules he had listened to on the first day of their meeting were approved by the base.

Luciel looked through all the rules in the folder and saw that most of those proposed by Treyton and the other teams were approved, and only had a few revisions regarding the specifics that fall under those rules.

Looking at them, it seemed that Treyton and the others really thought a lot and had written most of the rules that were needed by the teams in the north base.

The rules they made also didn’t restrict them much, as most of them were formulated to stop teams from harming other teams as well as to stop them from harming themselves.

For instance, there was one rule he hadn’t seen on the first day he was there. The rule clearly stated the minimum division percentage for team members and leaders.

The rule stated that the leader and the team itself could only get a maximum of 50 percent of the team’s earnings and couldn’t get more than that every time they earned something as a team; the rest had to be divided among the members.

It was the same for the individual members of the team: as long as they worked as a group, a person could only get a maximum of 50 percent of what they had earned.

If members of a team didn’t follow the maximum percentage and took more, then those members could report it so that, after verification, those who didn’t follow the rules would be punished.

At least with such a rule, the division in most teams would become fairer; according to the others, even in the north base, a lot of teams still had very unfair divisions between members.

In some teams, members received less than 10 percent of the materials they had worked hard to collect, but they couldn’t say anything about it—especially in temporary teams that were just made for a specific mission.

Luciel continued reading all the rules in the folder and saw that they had really written a lot.

They even wrote rules for cooperative tasks with other teams. Aside from those, the base also added a rule for the top 10 teams.

One of the most significant rules they added was for the top 10 teams to undertake a mission from the base with higher difficulty.

They could choose to go with only their team, work with other teams, or work with the base military, as long as they completed a difficult mission from the base every 6 months.

It was also written that the six-month rule could be further discussed in the future because the difficulty of surviving outside the base was getting higher and higher as time went by.

So, they would probably change it again later, but for now, it was still every 6 months.

Aside from that, the rules added for the top 10 teams weren’t worth mentioning, as they were just restraints for possible tyrannical behaviors toward other teams and common people in the base.

"So, we need to do a difficult base mission again when we go out as a team after New Year?"

The rule was indeed significant, and other teams might find it a bit challenging, but for their team, it wasn’t new at all. Both times they had gone out as a whole team, they had taken on difficult missions that other teams couldn’t do.

"Yes, and we will probably continue taking difficult missions from the base every time we go out as a whole team."

"Well, you guys are the ones who are going to work hard, so I don’t mind. So, what mission are we going to do after celebrating New Year?"

"I haven’t finished talking with Grandpa and the uncles, so it’s not finalized yet. But if there are no changes, then we will probably have to go south or east to establish communications between bases while collecting grains and other supplies that the base needs. Our destination will probably depend on what supplies the base wants."

"Oh, did the research center and the engineering center finally manage to make a stable line for long-distance communication?"

"Yes, they only had to install and change some settings on the cell towers and receivers in those bases. So, Aldo and Sam have to go and learn how to do it to successfully establish communication for different places."

"I see, so are we also going to enter cities along the way?"

"It depends on the situation, but if we do enter, only a few of us would probably go because it’s still very dangerous inside them.

But we certainly won’t go to the capital, as it is surrounded by cities which are already very populated.

Even though we are already very strong compared to other people in the base, I don’t think we have to risk going to those places, which are mostly filled with skyscrapers and other tall buildings."

"Yeah, it’s better not to go to those places. We’re not desperate enough to risk our lives for that."

If it were just entering one city, they could probably enter and exit without any problems. However, if they had to continuously traverse cities, they probably wouldn’t be able to come out without sacrifices along the way, since they would have to pass through places that were densely populated.

If it were just at the beginning, where there were mostly level 0 and level 1 zombies, they could certainly go to those places and most of them would come out alive.

But if they were to enter those places now that there were already level 3 zombies, their chances of survival would be lower, even though their strength was higher than before.

If it were only him, Treyton, Zam, Wes, and Myla, they would have a high chance of surviving even after traversing those cities.

But if they were with other members, those additional members probably wouldn’t be able to come out alive; even the five of them might not come out without injuries—or at all—if something happened while they were inside.

Since they didn’t have any desperate reason to enter those cities, it was better not to go at all.
