Transmigrated into a reversed world-Chapter 260: Ew! Meow
Kyle sat up when he saw the outline of the forest. At last, they had arrived. He didn’t expect the trip to take two hours, even at top speed.
“We’re here,” Cyra announced, taking control of the aircraft while searching for a clearing to land. Kyle noticed her intention and enlarged the island map on the hologram screen to give her a clearer view.
Cyra searched and couldn’t find a clearing except for the mansion, so she guided the aircraft in that direction and landed under the stares of the statue-like guards.
The cracked-faced woman was alerted by the intruder alarm blaring inside and rushed out of her underground lab, making sure to shut the door behind her.
She pressed the hidden mechanism, and the room hissed as it slid lower into the ground, the normal tiled floor sliding into place.
After all this was done, she tapped her bracelet. With quick taps on the keyboard, she brought up footage from outside, and what she saw made her furious.
Her face cracked as particles of her skin fell to the ground, fueled by the boundless rage erupting inside her.
“This woman, how did she find my hideout? Why can’t you die already!” she screamed, tapping on the hologram screen as if she wanted to poke out Cyra’s brain.
Then a ruthless smile curled her lips, and she pressed a button, causing clicking sounds to vibrate through the house as if doors were being unlocked.
“Since you came here yourself, prepare to stay here forever,” she whispered in a chilling tone as she stared viciously at Cyra and Kyle.
Cyra wasn’t aware of the woman’s wishful thinking; she was about to move forward when her ears picked up the clicking sounds, causing her to stop in her tracks.
Kyle frowned at the sound, feeling like his ears were about to go numb—he still hadn’t quite gotten the hang of muting the sounds around him.
“Listened to my heartbeat. Take deep, slow breaths and focus,” Cyra instructed patiently when she noticed him frowning as if in pain.
Her calm voice, for some reason, soothed Kyle. He obeyed her instructions, and the sounds around him slowly faded; only the sound of her slow beating heart remained audible to him.
His tense shoulders relaxed, and the frown faded. “Thank you.” He whispered softly, his gaze locking with hers for a moment.
Cyra nodded, her eyes narrowing as she looked into the forest.
“Get ready, they are coming.” As soon as these words left her lips, the ground trembled slightly, and the sound of running feet echoed through the clearing.
The sight they encountered next made Kyle and Cyra frown.
Before them, people with bodies either rotten or missing a limb ran toward them, their greyed-out eyes vacant, occasional groans escaping their lips.
Cyra’s eyes darted around, and she realized they were surrounded on all sides, with the enemy’s numbers countless, leaving them in a helpless situation.
Or so the woman watching them through her screen thought.
She had commanded her zombies to tear them limb from limb, leaving their brains intact for her. ‘I’m going to savour every bite of your brain.’ The thought put her in a good mood, her mouth drooling in anticipation.
Cyra, on the other hand, briefly looked at a pinhole camera hidden in the tree.
“Do you want to go back to the aircraft while I handle this?” Cyra asked as she stretched and tied up her hair.
Kyle said nothing and placed his suitcase down, opening it as daggers of different sizes and shapes came into view.
His actions showed he was joining her in the fight.
“Be careful.” Cyra left these words and then disappeared.
Kyle hummed and summoned his cat. “Ew! Meow...” Blue’s face scrunched up in disgust, feeling its delicate eyes had been tainted with filth.
“I’ll take you to a beast spa later. Help me find their weak spot... I feel they’re already dead, like empty shells.” Kyle muttered the last words to himself as he swung his suitcase hard at the zombie that lunged forward.
The strike was enough to end the woman’s life, but surprisingly, she growled with her chest caved in as she rushed toward him again—showing no pain at all.
Kyle frowned and dodged, swinging his suitcase around and knocking down the zombies that surrounded him.
Blue hesitated to move forward, their drooling lips and rotten flesh making its fur stand on end from disgust, but remembering Kyle’s promise, it charged forward into their midst.
Cyra grabbed a stick and used it as a weapon, unwilling to touch them.
She pierced a zombie’s chest, but saw it was still moving.
She dodged the outstretched claws aimed at her, slamming another branch against a zombie’s head—its skull caving in, brain matter oozing out from its ears.
The zombie instantly stopped moving and collapsed to the ground. Cyra’s eyes flickered, and she began aiming solely for their heads.
The air smelled of rot and sour water; the night breeze did nothing to clear it, only making it worse, causing Blue’s eyes to water from the stench.
Though a bit disoriented, it aimed directly for the head after locating their weak spot.
Kyle was no better; his daggers thrust forward repeatedly, felling countless zombies—but more kept coming, as if there were no end.
Fortunately, he recovered faster than usual, or he would have been overwhelmed by them. He wondered how they had been turned into these mindless creatures. ‘Didn’t the city lords notice people going missing, or did they notice but turned a blind eye?’ he pondered as he trampled over the piles of dead bodies on the ground, and more still rushed forward.
With their large numbers, people would have complained about their loved ones going missing, but no news about it leaked to the public.
Meanwhile, as they fought, the woman’s face across the screen grew grim as she watched her Zombies die so easily. If nothing was done to stop those three, the Zombies would be wiped out.
She would lose both her money and her assets. It had taken time and resources to create this zombie horde, and they were being wiped out as if all her effort meant nothing.
Her artificial heart throbbed in pain, a flicker of fear crossed her eyes as she watched Cyra. She had a premonition that this woman would kill her if she didn’t take some necessary precautions.
That feeling overwhelmed her, and she got to her feet, heading toward a room with a metallic door. She pressed her fingerprint on the panel, and the door slid open.
Inside tubes lined with walls, housing different female figures—or one could say, her new bodies—all connected to a brain floating in a tube in the middle. She selected a blue-haired woman and entered instructions on the hologram screen in front of the tube. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Wires slipped from the tube and connected to the blue-haired woman, transferring her memories into the unconscious woman.
Once it showed 100% on the hologram screen, the wires disconnected from her head. She reorganized her memories into her new body’s brain so that if she dies, the body will retain her memories.
Seeing that everything was complete, she looked at her current body with a sad smile. This was her favorite—the one the master had crafted for her. Yet the smile seemed off, as if she were trying to summon the emotions a normal person would feel.
Giving the room one last look, she left and placed it on lockdown, and it slid down like the other room—everything returning to normal.
