Transmigrated as The Forgotten Extra-Chapter 94 Crumbling Louise.
A deafening silence descended upon the arena, broken only by the dry thud of Oliver’s collapse. The sound that signalled the fall of the crimson-haired senior’s reign.
Everyone in the room held their breath for a moment, their eyes widened in shock at seeing the outcome of the spar that blew away their minds.
The clash of veteran versus junior, the intense exchange of sword intent, the mysterious power unleashed in that final moment. All of it had opened everyone’s eyes.
The seniors and also the cadets, those who trained together with Cain every morning, now glanced at him with a revered gaze. Without a doubt, Cain’s position was akin to a god in their minds.
"Oliver!?"
In the midst of the silence, a female senior threw the bow in her hand. She ran toward the middle arena, her braided green hair swaying with every step. Following her steps, a male senior, who lost to Abel, hurriedly pulled Oliver’s body into his before approaching the General.
"General Dosh, let Barry carry Oliver to the infirmary."
Helena’s voice was pitched high with agitation. The man nodded, then watched Barry carry Oliver on his back, leaving the arena in silence.
The green-haired girl shifted her attention toward the centre arena. There stood a junior who managed to defeat her leader despite showcasing his fearsome aura.
Helena bit her lip, unsure of what to think about the swirling emotion gnawing at her chest. She clenched her fists tight, nails digging into her palms, the jolt of agony snapping her mind back to the surface.
She inhaled a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
’No, calm down, me.’
The girl looked at the figure of the ashen-haired junior as he left the arena and approached his other teammates.
As Cain raised his hand, three of his four comrades swarmed him, their congratulatory slaps resonating with sharp ’pak’ sounds. Helena sighed with resignation, wondering what had caused this mess.
Initially, her head was filled with questions as to why her team suddenly received a mission back to the facilities. It was to recruit a talented junior to help them move supplies on the eastern border.
However, given the current state, the mission was far from being realized. Thanks to the unnecessary conflict caused by none other than her teammates.
Helena cast her gaze to the remaining two. Stella wore a bright expression as she sent heated glances toward the grey-haired boy. Meanwhile, Adler flashed his smile for the world to see. No one knows what has transpired inside that crafty boy’s head.
She placed a hand to her forehead, feeling the throbbing in her skull worsen.
’God, I want to leave this team.’
When Helena was massaging her throbbing head, Cain couldn’t hide the grin plastered on his face. The other four before him also parted their lips in joy, yet, beneath those smiles, a heat blazed in their hearts after witnessing their leaders step into another realm, leaving them behind.
While the arena buzzed with the aftermath, one figure remained frozen in place. She was trapped in a battle entirely different.
Louise breathed a sigh of relief that her leader’s plan had gone this smoothly so far. Her fingers dug into her palm, turning her skin pale. She glanced at her comrades, who surrounded her like a protective cage that shielded her from the cruelty of the outside world.
The girl was being protected like a hen, but, at the end of the day, Louise must face the darkness that gnawed at her heart for years. Noticing the brown haired girl kept her gaze down, a hand pulled Louise’s hand to the side, causing her to lift her face.
"What’s wrong, Louise?"
"R-Rika."
The warmth transmitted from their joined hands melted the ice around her heart. Louise pressed her lips; she didn’t know how many times Rika’s warm embrace saved her crumbling feelings.
It had been months since Louise and the others began spending their days together in laughter, sadness, and unity. She thought those memories could replace the darkness in her heart and bring her salvation, but the cruel reality shoved her with bitter truth as the chain that bound her to the past was still present, a testament of her fragile mentality.
Louise laughed inwardly. At this time, she didn’t qualify to call herself a martial artist. She had brought shame to her father and brother, who had always expected so much from her.
’Heh, there is no way someone like me could answer everyone’s expectations.’
"Louise."
A deep voice, reminiscent of her father, brought her thoughts back to the surface. Louise looked at the source, seeing Peter’s blue eyes penetrate deep into her heart, which she avoided by averting her gaze elsewhere.
"I-I’m fine. W-What happened?"
The four people around her turned silent, making her glance up hesitantly to find her teammates wearing expressions of worried concern.
’Eh!?’
Louise swallowed back the word that almost escaped her lips. She brought her clenched hands to her chest, pulling them close, feeling her thundering heartbeat as if it wanted to remind her of something.
However, the current Louise was too absorbed in her darkness, causing her inner mind to cease its function.
The girl looked at her comrades until she stopped at her leader, who stood before her. She gulped to moisten her parched throat, seeing the darkness in her leader’s eyes mirrored her own.
"L-Leader?"
Without answering her, the leader of her team turned his back on her. That action caused her mood to sink deeper into the abyss, almost to the point of no return.
’Hehe, as expected, even the leader is turning his back on me. I’m a useless girl, after all.’
"That Cain, what is he doing?"
The words coming out of Rika’s mouth lit a bit of light into Louise’s darkened eyes. She shifted her attention to follow Rika’s line of sight. Louise’s eyes widened in shock, barely keeping her jaw from dropping to the floor.
Far from her place, the leader approached one of the female cadets who held a dummy spear. She held her breath as Cain snatched the spear without words or negotiation.
Louise put her arms closer to her chest, unsure as to what expression she should make when her leader arrived. Her fear proved short as the leader stood before her, holding a dummy spear and a katana in his hands.
Because of the spar earlier, his stern expression made her legs turn to jelly. Louise’s vision swayed, prompting her to kiss the hard floor.
"Louise!? Are you alright?"
Abel’s alarmed cry attracted the other three, who crouched down to match Louise’s level. She vacantly stared at her teammates; strength seemed to drain from her exhaled breath.
"I-I’m..."
Louise’s words trailed off at the end. It was becoming hard to open her mouth. She clamped her teeth, feeling something start to bubble in her chest, although she was unaware of what emotion that was.
A looming shadow cast its dark before her, accompanied by a deep voice that pulled her attention forward.
"Louise, listen to me!"
The commanding words from her leader’s mouth thickened the atmosphere with tension, making Louise choke on her breath. She locked eyes with her leader, seeing a pathetic reflection of herself in his black eyes.
