Chapter 266: Hell Raid Arc [ 9 ]

I surrounded myself and the girl in Telekinesis and blocked the incoming attack. Rather, I deflected it, since I realized it was far too powerful to block.

Yet, once I caught sight of the person who sent that attack, I was left puzzled.

It was Wilhelm.

Why would Wilhelm be attacking me? An attack so weak at that.

Rather... Why was he here in the first place, and not on the outside?

Just then, I felt another Demon King’s presence, followed by another... and then another. All of them were here, and not only that, they were fighting against someone.

"Get your ass up here, now!" Wilhelm screamed.

My brow twitched as I exchanged a glance with the confused Clementine. Still, I made sure the girl beside me was protected before finally making my way up to where Wilhelm was.

When I arrived, I realized that he had a thin slash mark across his right forearm, and from how much blood was spilling, it didn’t seem like he could heal through it.

To top it all off...

"You betrayed us, didn’t you?"

"What are you talking about?" I replied.

Wilhelm’s expression darkened.

"Did you think you could kill us if you told one of your powerful buddies that we’re doing a raid? Have you learned nothing?"

I tilted my head slightly. "Again... What the hell are you talking about?"

He scoffed and then pointed into the distance. To my surprise, beyond the clouds, the figure of a black-haired woman caught my sight. She swung her katana fiercely, and with her clear amber eyes, she scanned the four Demon Kings surrounding her.

It was none other than Aliyah.

But if she was here... then did that mean this was the same event where she died?

My eyes widened in realization, as in the cinematic we players saw, she fought against five demon kings, and after killing three of them, she succumbed to her injuries.

...Right after entering a portal to the Demon Realm.

I felt like all the pieces finally clicked into place.

This was that very same event, except that its time frame had been moved forward, much like the Demon Descent itself. It seemed like everything that I used to know was starting to become useless, which also meant that putting my trust in what I knew was no longer viable.

I stared at the fight that was happening in the sky, and then I glanced down at all the saviors. None of them really cared much about the fight. Instead, they just spent their time chatting, almost like the danger didn’t really apply to them.

And hearing Wilhelm’s next words, I realized why.

"We’ll have a talk about this later, and you’ll be punished accordingly. Go join the rest of the saviors. I already gave them a scroll, so once you arrive, you’ll be teleported to safety."

"Don’t you think you stand a better chance of winning if we’re all here?" I asked.

"No. You’ll only get in the way. Leave. Now," Wilhelm threatened, and finally, his figure blurred as he reappeared in the sky and tried to deliver a fatal blow to Aliyah.

Yet all she did was cut off his legs and pierce him through the heart, narrowly missing his core. Before she could pierce his core, the other Demon Kings moved Wilhelm out of the way and interrupted her.

This whole encounter gave me a better perspective of just how strong Aliyah was, because for her to so easily manhandle Wilhelm, she needed to be at least Grade 80.

That also meant she was as strong as a Demon Emperor, if not a lot stronger.

Still... Not much has changed from the past. She’s still a human with limited stamina, whereas the demons were immortal, with infinite stamina.

She would die here if things stayed the same.

Which is why I’m not leaving.

I glanced at Clementine, and she seemed to understand that too, as she nodded at me. Then, the two of us descended to where the rest of the saviors were. Evidently, they were just chatting.

"Sheesh... Had I known such strong humans still existed, I would’ve come out of hiding a lot earlier," Kai said.

Lana nodded. "She’s one of our strongest. We call her the Sword Saint, since she single-handedly managed to kill one of the Demon Emperors."

Was she a fan?

"Humph. Well, she’s strong, I’ll give her that. She’d definitely kill me in an instant." Kai turned toward us. "Speaking of, you two are finally here. Let’s leave, yeah?"

I smiled and nodded at the rest of them. Finally, Lana pulled out a scroll, and after making sure we were all in the radius, she tore it.

Energy enveloped all six of us in an instant, and yet, Clementine and I were completely unaffected. My Telekinesis warded off the energy, and by the time that energy vanished, I couldn’t see any of the saviors anymore.

I was glad they managed to be teleported away.

Though, amongst all those that had vanished, Kai’s energy was somewhat still present. After I gave it one quick look, I realized that instead of being teleported, he had actually moved away from it at the last second.

And now, he was in some area several hundred kilometers away, which also meant he either had a different agenda, or he was planning to participate in the fight against Aliyah.

Either way, at the moment, he was someone I had no control over.

"I feel like I should’ve sent you up there as well," I said in passing.

Clementine furrowed her brows. "Is that a joke or something? Why would I leave you here, especially when the stakes are so high?"

I shrugged. "Well, if I can help Aliyah, and you can kill the saviors, we’d be able to kill two birds with one stone."

She pinched my cheek and didn’t say another word. It’d be too much of a gamble if we split up.

And now that we were together...

We might be able to help Aliyah survive this.
