Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 265: Hell Raid Arc [ 8 ]
"How very ambitious," the old man noted. "But I’m afraid I don’t have the time to teach you manners, or swordsmanship. Die where you stand."
The moment he finished his words, his figure blurred, and as for his sword, it remained in place. I was genuinely surprised to see that, since even with my Mystic Eyes carefully tracking his movements, I wasn’t able to see anything off.
But, once he was close enough to me, his sword simply teleported over to my neck, at which point, the only option I had left was to turn into black lightning and vanish, effectively dodging the attack and reappearing behind the old man.
He seemed a little surprised at my speed, but that didn’t stop him from coming at me again and again... and again.
"The demon is actually holding his own against the Lord Swordsmaster...?"
"It’s because the Lord Swordsmaster hasn’t used his aura yet! When he uses it, that demon will fall instantly!"
"Kill him!"
I nimbly dodged under his attacks, even redirected a few to the ground. Don’t get me wrong, this old man was really powerful, and his Gift definitely had something to do with delaying his attacks, which made him even more fearsome.
But as the others said...
Where’s his Sword Aura?
I suddenly stopped, and right as the old man’s sword neared my head, I raised my hand, covered it in Telekinesis, and effortlessly caught his blade in between my fingers.
In that very same instant, I forcefully separated the atoms in his fine blade with my Atomic Telekinesis, making his blade brittle, and then shattering it.
As the sound of the swordsmaster’s blade shattering rang out throughout the fortress, the expressions of all the people who were rooting for him turned pale. Their savior, and the person they had put all their faith in to defeat the demons, had just been overpowered so easily.
And I realized that too, especially since I gave off the look of me not breaking a sweat. In reality, to do what I just did, I needed to use 30% of my energy in one quick burst. I didn’t merge it with my Divine Energy yet, since I hadn’t done any tests yet.
For all I knew, had I merged them, I would’ve accidentally killed this guy.
But despite that, my show of force was clear, yet there was one thing even clearer.
"You’re not really a swordsmaster, are you?" I said.
The old man’s brow twitched, and to my surprise, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a thin needle. He tossed the needle straight at me, and for once, I didn’t try to dodge, allowing the needle to pierce my arm.
And as I thought, it was pure poison, which numbed my body and seemingly tore my blood vessels apart. But then again, my Mystic Eyes worked fairly simply. Since I could freely sense the energy of the poison within my body, eliminating it was very easy.
In the end, it was just a simple liquid, coupled with a needle sticking out of my body that I pulled out and tossed aside.
That one action alone managed to send the old man overboard, as instead of his fearsome expression that I saw earlier, it was now that of a shriveling coward. He stared at me, his eyes trembling as he dearly hoped I would just step away and let bygones be bygones.
Though, had I come here to piss around, I wouldn’t have tried to make this a showdown to begin with.
Anyhow...
"Is that really all you can offer?"
I approached the old man.
"A very big ego, with nothing to show for it... You’re not even worthy to become Clementine’s Soul Knight. You should be embarrassed."
But instead of embarrassed, he’ll be very much dead.
Which was what I did in the next instant as I gripped his throat with my Telekinesis and squeezed the life out of him. To make sure he wouldn’t have another trick up his sleeve, I used Atomic Telekinesis to practically melt his heart and turn it to dust.
Once he was dead, and everyone had seen what just happened, the tone of the entire fortress shifted.
"W-Well... If you insist on saving one of us, then I suppose I should be the one."
"No! It’ll be me!"
"S-Stop pushing!"
Every single person present began rushing toward me, making me realize just how pathetic they all were. Just a moment ago, they were cheering for him to kill me, and now, they were groveling at my feet, looking for whatever bit of my empathy they could latch onto.
But as I stared at the people who kept on rushing at me and being slowed by my Telekinetic Control Field, I couldn’t help but close my eyes and channel my Telekinesis.
For a brief moment, I felt at peace.
And once I reopened my eyes, I was met with hundreds of corpses flattened all around me. They didn’t even have the chance to scream or realize what happened before I crushed them.
This wasn’t something that I couldn’t control either...
I wasn’t affected by the fragment anymore, nor did I feel any certain hate against anyone in particular.
It was just that I had already chosen the person whom I wanted to live. They were the only person who hadn’t moved from their position, and it was just a young girl in a wheelchair. She was as innocent as one might get.
I took a deep breath and approached her. Then, I crouched on one knee and met her innocent blue eyes.
"I’m sorry if your guardian was among those people."
"...She wasn’t. My mom’s already dead."
"I see..."
I let out a sigh and tapped the wheels of her wheelchair.
"I’m going to let you go home now. Talk to Clementine. She’s the one with red hair. She’ll give you some money to start off."
Speaking of Clementine, she had finished turning the Grade 60’s into her Soul Knights, and with every single person but the girl in the wheelchair dead... we were done here.
Was this really all there was to it?
It was sad.
Less than a raid, it felt like a one-sided execution. An execution which I led and carried out.
"..."
I suppose there’s nothing much I can do about it.
But right as I turned my gaze back to the girl, I felt a powerful burst of Demonic Energy come from above as it hurtled down at me.
