Chapter 247: The Meeting In Helheim [ 11 ]

A butcher knife... a butcher knife...

He seemed really familiar.

Out of all the saviors here, all of whom I’ve never actually seen before in the game, he was the only one I felt like I had seen before.

And after taking another look at his face, my eyes slightly widened as I suddenly recalled just who he was.

He wasn’t seen much in the game, but he was one of those people who had so many rumors surrounding him that the developers hid him in cutscenes, or even behind massive events.

Honestly, all those times I thought he was the final villain, but he actually wasn’t. Kevin never got to fight him, because once he slayed enough demon kings, the game was considered finished.

But then again, the Heavenly Butcher was known for one thing, and that was the fact that his Gift was tightly connected to some form of Time Manipulation.

And just like Space Manipulation, Time Manipulation was the most powerful Gift possible. Obviously, since it was so powerful, you’d be blessed by whoever knows what if you could get your hands on the full Time Manipulation Gift.

Similarly, you’d need to be someone like Kevin, who has the full Gravity Manipulation but is stupid enough not to realize it and thus only uses a small Domain ability of that Gift.

Taking a deep breath, I recalled that the Heavenly Butcher could slice someone through time itself. As in, since I’m sitting here now, when I finally leave, he’d still be able to cut me for the next hour, and I’d suffer all that damage.

Basically, one slash to my neck while I’m resting, and I’m going to die. That’s just how overpowered someone like this was, and how far the power ceiling of this world truly was...

In contrast, I was the most ordinary person here.

Anyhow...

"Two tips for you, boy. If you’re in a room with adults, you raise your hand before speaking, yes?" Kai said, then kicked his feet up on the table.

"After all, respect is best shown when—"

Before Kai could even finish speaking, a black tentacle abruptly burst forward from Liam’s eye and headed straight for Kai’s neck. It was so incredibly fast that even my Mystic Eyes lagged behind, not being able to track the tip of the tentacle.

Yet right as it was about to strike Kai, his retainer stepped in. It was a woman, but unlike what one would expect from demon women, she didn’t try to stand out much. In fact, she wore a black armor set and even had a rapier by her side.

And with that same rapier, she slashed off the incoming tentacle and then pointed her rapier at Liam’s retainer.

"Watch the boy."

Liam’s retainer, on the other hand... He was dressed like some kind of drag queen.

"Tsk. Sure, sure. It’s not like it matters. Your savior is immortal anyway, isn’t he? This little boy wouldn’t even be able to scratch him."

"Yeah, the fancy pants here is right." Kai nodded. "But that doesn’t change the fact that I find it rude, yeah? Hey Amon, mind giving him a love tap from me?"

What’s up with this guy and his obsession with me?

"No."

Seeing how disruptive everything was, Ren, the Demon Emperor of Despair, decided to chime in again.

"The main point here is to make alliances, yes? Kai, please stop trying to provoke others. Be friendly, and by default, become friends. If the time comes when you fight together, the last thing I want happening is infighting."

He narrowed his eyes as a deathly pressure descended onto all of us.

"I’ll repeat it in case you’ve just filtered out what I said. I despise infighting. If I see any one of you doing it, I won’t hesitate to eliminate you on the spot. Do you all understand me?"

At his words, everyone nodded, including myself. I didn’t even mean to nod either... My body just kind of reacted on its own.

"Good. Now then, why don’t we try this again?"

With that, he clapped his hands, and all that ominous pressure just kind of vanished.

And what followed was a completely different atmosphere, where no one said a single word, and even Kai chose to keep his mouth shut.

But despite the awkward silence, it seemed like I had gotten the attention of not only Kai... but also this woman beside me.

The White Witch Lana.

"Amon, was it?"

She tilted her head slightly.

"Can you really use Divine Energy?"

The moment she said those words, all eyes immediately fell on me.

I was a little puzzled... I thought that this wasn’t exactly common knowledge.

But using Blood Sight, I could easily tell that almost every single person here knew. All except for Kai, who looked as though he had seen a ghost.

"I guess so. Why?" I replied plainly.

Lana smiled.

"It’s nothing. I was just curious how it looked, since one of my creations studied it. They said it used to be referred to as Origin Energy, and that the people who wield it are the descendants of the original gods."

"It sounds very intriguing, so do you mind showing me what it feels like?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Origin Energy, and something that only belonged to the descendants. Obviously, that was a misconception, since if I had it and Alexius also had it, then that meant there was a way to either tap into that energy through the Divine Beasts, or some other way that no one else was aware of.

But now, even if I wanted to, I had no idea how to use it. I’m only ever able to use it when I’m reacting to someone else who has that type of energy.

And right as I was about to answer her and deny her request, Ren’s voice resounded from the side.

"Ah. As it so happens, Wilhelm has brought another guest who can use Divine Energy. Wilhelm, could you call him out, please?"
