Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 242: The Meeting In Helheim [ 6 ]
Despite Kevin never actually having been to Helheim, the amount of lore surrounding it was insane. Like the geek that I was, I managed to pick up every hint of lore as well.
For starters, apparently, the reason Helheim had so many floating towers and nearly infinite energy was because Helheim had been built atop an ancient Titan.
A Titan that had been felled by powerful ancient demons, who hadn’t killed him completely. Instead, they sealed him away and built a city on top of him. Every single pipe and every single strand of electricity or energy that powered every building had a channel connecting it to that ancient Titan.
I wasn’t sure whether that was legit or not, but since that was the biggest piece of lore that I had found in the game, hidden behind a QR code inside a short cutscene of the Demon Realm, I was sure that this was at least partially legit.
As I continued to inwardly fanboy over this place, we eventually arrived at the outer part of Helheim. There was a giant invisible wall, more like a forcefield, covering the entirety of Helheim.
And of course, the wall had checkpoints, much like other cities. The checkpoints were simple. As the carriage highway closed in, it was segregated into several dozen paths, all of which led up to the invisible wall.
One by one, the guards inspected the incoming carriages, and if everything was in order, they’d be let through and allowed to merge back onto a slightly thinner highway, where they could then go toward the inner part of the city, which was just the core of Helheim.
Thankfully, there were no problems with anyone in front of us, so in just a couple of minutes, our carriage was next to be inspected. At first, I thought we’d need to step out and let them search our carriage, but once they spotted Merilyn, their attitude changed.
"M-Miss Merilyn... Is today the day?"
Merilyn smiled.
"Yes it is."
She pointed at me.
"Meet one of the saviors. We’re about to run a little late, so I’d appreciate it if you let us through, yeah?"
"Of course, miss Merilyn, mister savior."
With that, the guard tapped on our carriage and then whistled. In the next instant, our carriage moved forward and returned to the highway, heading straight for Helheim.
It seemed like my reputation here was that of a savior.
Obviously, I wasn’t here to save anyone, nor did I have any intention of doing so in the first place.
Despite that, I just hummed to myself to pass the time, until eventually, we arrived at the core of Helheim. Surprisingly, unless we had a flying carriage, the core was a carriage-free zone, meaning we’d get in trouble if we were to ride our carriage there.
So we got off and entered the city, which was filled to the brim with demons. It reminded me of that one time I had visited New York, except that here it was even more chaotic.
At the very least, there were so many restaurants and activities for the demons to do that they were kind of filtered out, making walking through the whole city easier.
The streets were pretty wide too, so that’s that.
Yet as Merilyn and I continued walking toward the row of palaces in the northern end of the city, a giant hologram suddenly appeared overhead, and to my genuine surprise...
HEYOOOOOOO!
It’s Mao Mao, your idol demoness~ 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
I’ll be performing tonight at the Grand Venue of Helheim, so make sure to attend, okay~?
MWAH~!
As she blew a kiss at the stunned people below, she then abruptly vanished.
I was also stunned, not knowing that there were actually demon idols. Not to mention... they had holograms? Seriously?
Just how far behind were the humans?
"Have you ever been to a concert?" Merilyn asked out of nowhere.
"No," I replied without thinking too hard about it.
She paused for a brief moment, then let out a chuckle.
"Then you don’t remember when I took you to see Mao Mao during your fourteenth birthday?"
"..."
Shit.
Merilyn let out a sigh.
"I guess Amon really is gone. Well, whoever you are, so long as you play your role, you’ll be valuable to the Demon Realm. Now let’s speed up, since the meeting’s going to start in around ten minutes."
The moment she said that, she suddenly leapt off the ground and jumped atop a nearby rooftop. She glanced down at me, and with a slightly conflicted look, I reappeared beside her.
Noticing my speed, she knew that she could move at whatever pace she wanted. So just like that, Merilyn and I began hopping from one roof to another, nearing the palaces in the distance. Honestly, I was a bit curious why no one else was doing this, since it beat walking through a street filled with hundreds of thousands of demons.
But just then, on the neighboring rooftop, I saw someone try doing what we did. Except the moment that demon’s foot landed on the rooftop, a Demon Marquess descended from one of the floating towers and apprehended him.
He put on a pair of strange handcuffs that immediately made the demon’s energy disappear. Rather, it was stored away inside his heart, almost like it was sealed.
Then, the Demon Marquess just tossed the other demon over his shoulder and took him away to the floating tower.
Only then did I realize that my role here was much more important than I’d given myself credit for.
And since Merilyn had already known this would happen, she didn’t even stop for a second, forcing me to speed up slightly to catch up to her.
Eventually, we arrived in front of the row of palaces, and to my genuine surprise, there were literal Demon Dukes standing by as guards. Just one Demon Duke would be able to stir some serious chaos in my world, and yet... they’re working regular jobs here.
Just thinking of what I’ll see once I enter those palaces makes me want to go back right away.
