Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 241: The Meeting In Helheim [ 5 ]
"Do what you just wanted to do," I said.
She cocked her head back.
"And why should I? Are you going to cut off my head again? Break my bones and toss me aside?"
Hahaha.
Merilyn’s still the same as before too. We’ll have a lot of fun this ride~
The voices of demons kept resounding inside my mind, and although I wasn’t that affected, the voices were pretty annoying to deal with, especially if they’ll continue even during the meeting.
So I decided to be a little nicer.
"I’m sorry about last time. I’d also say sorry for killing your man, but he deserved it."
Merilyn scoffed.
"And that’s why I’m angry at you, you know? I couldn’t care less about myself, since I can turn off all my pain. It’s just that the way you ruthlessly took over his body and turned him into one of your puppets... Why couldn’t you have just killed him?"
So she’s mad at us because we enslaved him instead of killing him.
Welp.
"I’m surprised you’re blaming me."
"What?"
I leaned back slightly, then said:
"You’re acting as though I was the one who gave the order for him to go down there and throw his life away. If anything, I’d expect you to be mad at Wilhelm, but you’re too big of a coward to hold a grudge against a Demon King. Is that it?"
At my words, she suddenly fell silent. However, with my Blood Sight, I was able to see a slight shift in her heart rate, which likely meant she was a bit nervous or conflicted. Whatever it was, I decided to just leave it at that note and close my eyes.
Then, I began trying to filter out the voices. Rather, I was trying to locate where they were actually coming from.
She said they corrupt my soul. But I had no idea where my soul even was... I needed Clementine for that. Still, for at least the next half hour, I continued my search. All the while, the carriage took us outside of the city and onto a makeshift carriage highway.
It was my first time seeing one of those, and with hundreds of carriages going at a certain speed limit and obeying traffic laws, I realized that these demons might be a little more advanced. Albeit, that was probably because they had much more time to develop their civilization.
While humans were still learning how to sew a piece of cloth, demons were already building high-rise gothic churches.
As I was lost in thought about the highway, as well as the natural mountainous scenery of the Demon Realm, I suddenly heard rustling in front of me. Once I turned back, I realized that Merilyn was leaning in slightly toward me.
Normally, I would’ve just pushed her back, but since I didn’t feel any lust or ill intent, I decided to just let her get near me. Thankfully I did, because once she was close enough, all she did was tap my forehead with her middle finger.
In the next instant, a small bead of energy formed on my forehead, much like a seal. It was just that... the seal looked like one of those heart-shaped tattoos that were usually over the succubi’s womb. Basically, I looked like an idiot.
But the fact that the voices were now really muddled, to the point of being nearly completely silent, meant I was finally at ease.
So when she sat back in her seat and crossed her legs, all I did was give her a nod and express my gratitude.
"Thanks, Merilyn."
"Tsk... You’re really strange, you know that?" Merilyn said, avoiding my gaze.
I tilted my head slightly.
"Strange, how?"
"Back when I mentioned we had something going on before, when you were a little younger, I wasn’t lying... It’s just that it seems like you don’t remember any of it. Why is that?" Merilyn said.
Then she slightly turned her head and narrowed her eyes at me.
"Could what Wilhelm said about the Calamity be the truth? Are you even Amon anymore? Back when we met in the academy, I tried to get your attention and have a private talk with you... but you didn’t react at all to me. You were cold, distant, and nowhere near the boy I used to talk with."
That again...
In the game, the information about Amon was both very limited and open. If you looked hard enough, you could find whatever you want.
I was one of those people who looked everywhere and basically made a compendium of my favorite characters. Important characters too.
But the relationship between Merilyn and Amon was never even hinted at inside the game. At most, Amon assumed that Merilyn was involved in the examination where he was attacked by multiple Demon Barons.
If anything, the reason the original Amon survived inside the game was because of her intervention.
Aside from that? I had no other ideas.
So in the end, at her question, I only stared at her, unable to reply with a solid answer.
"It’s just like I thought... You’re not really Amon."
With those words, Merilyn glanced out of the window with a slightly saddened expression.
I wanted to say something to her, since she might be one of the people who were on Amon’s side originally. But how could I? I was already impersonating him. I’m not really Amon, and trying to get someone’s trust without even knowing a single detail of their past was something I was incapable of doing.
So with that in mind, I decided to just lay low for a while, and after closing my eyes again, I relaxed, manipulating the energy in my heart and subtly practicing it.
And just like that, the carriage ride continued. The highway was very long, and although I had no idea where we were going at first, when nearly 12 hours had passed, I finally saw the outline of an incredibly large city, filled to the brim with both gothic buildings and modern skyscrapers.
It looked like something straight out of a sci-fi film. With floating carriages and hovering watchtowers all throughout the outer part of the city... I had a rough idea of where I was.
The capital of the Demon Realm.
Helheim.
