Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 223: The Gala [ 10 ]
The three of us just stood there for a brief moment, and as if everything clicked together at once, our figures vanished.
SWOOOOSH!
BZZZZZZZZZT!
Reappearing beside Alexius, I swung my blade down at his chest. As he was about to catch it, Clementine’s Soul Knights stepped in, appearing from above and sending an onslaught of attacks that forced him back.
Yet even as he teleported through the sky, I was right on him. Each time he reappeared, I was there, waiting with my blade. It got to the point where Alexius clearly realized that running away and making distance was impossible.
And so, for the first time ever, he decided to go on the offensive.
A dark purple armor set appeared around him. Even though I knew I could counter it, the amount of energy it was exuding was way too much. Not only that, I felt like if I were to strike with my blade, my katana would break.
So I also decided to switch up my tactics.
A fiery nova suddenly manifested above, scorching the air itself and sending miniature sparks everywhere. Each of the sparks contained enough energy to be like tiny grenades, and to top it all off, because I infused my fire with some Black Lightning, it was even more destructive.
And of course, as the flames turned black and began to crackle, I didn’t hesitate to narrow my eyes at Alexius and bring down the full force of my Gifts on him.
The flames crashed down on him and swallowed the space around him. As the flames expanded, a violent explosion pushed outward, tearing through the air and forcing the ground below to crack.
What was left of the palace soon vanished. What was left of the nobles not protected by Kevin or the others was turned to dust.
The attack was way too powerful, and clearly even I underestimated it as giant clouds of smoke emerged, each one acting as a thundercloud. Spreading outward, the thunderclouds began to rain down black lightning, decimating not only the palace grounds but also creating giant craters and ravines throughout a whole portion of the city.
It was incredibly destructive, and for a moment, I was left in awe.
However, despite how destructive and powerful my attack was, Alexius was no pushover.
A dark purple energy burst forth into the air as a bloody Alexius reappeared. His hair was charred, and his beard was practically cut in half. Yet despite that, the look in his eyes contained pure hatred.
But there was something else...
Something a little more sinister that I couldn’t grasp at first until it was too late.
He raised his hand and brought it down in an arc. The sky immediately split open, revealing a dangerous-looking spatial crack overhead which was completely dark and empty.
For a brief moment, I thought that something had gone wrong with his attack, but just then, I caught a glimpse of an extremely large white eye that was the size of several dozen worlds.
It glanced down at me, and for some reason, I felt like I couldn’t use my energy anymore. No matter how much I circulated it, it couldn’t leave my body, almost like that eye overhead was suppressing me.
But unlike me, Alexius wasn’t affected. In fact, he took this chance to not only approach me but also summon a dark purple spear and wield it like a weapon.
He quickly accelerated, aiming to pierce through my body and kill me.
Yet before he could do that, I spotted Clementine reappear above him, her body completely silver. It seemed like so long as she was in her Soul Form, she could avoid the white eye’s gaze.
And clearly, seeing how she abruptly grabbed Alexius’s chin and ripped it off before kicking him far into the sky, she could still attack like before.
As she held Alexius’s chin and a piece of his throat in her hand, she crushed it, her expression cold. Then she turned toward me. Yet even as she stared into my eyes, I didn’t feel like she was actually staring at me.
Instead...
"Morr. Stop being useless and come out."
Not even a second after she said that, Morr reappeared atop my shoulder. It glared at Clementine, but I was also sure that it knew what it was doing was wrong.
After all, it was supposed to be my Guardian.
"Expand your body or something and cover that spatial crack above. Or rather, get rid of that eye completely."
Clementine furrowed her brows.
"What do you mean you can’t? You’ve been lazing around for all this time, barely helping us. And when we really need your help, you won’t even try?"
She glanced at me and let out a sigh.
"Amon, I’m going to close that spatial crack myself."
"No."
A faint smile appeared on my face.
"I want you to toss me into that spatial crack."
She froze.
"You want... what?"
"Y-You’re not serious, are you?"
Glancing past her, I saw Alexius just hovering in the air, gasping with wide eyes as his throat and chin were slowly beginning to regenerate, yet rotting away when nearly finished.
She had dealt some considerable soul damage to him, and so now, all we needed to do was give one final push and finish him off.
Or so... that was what I thought at first, until he glanced up at the white eye, making eye contact. In the next instant, his body healed completely, and even his soul was mended. To top it all off, his energy had increased more than before.
He was just playing around with us, and clearly, if this continues, we’d lose.
But that eye up there...
It’s very familiar to that black hole I had absorbed.
If, on the off chance, Alexius had really managed to somehow find a way to harness the power of an Eldritch being, then...
I wanted it.
"Clementine, trust me on this. Fighting him is just a losing battle if he’s immortal here."
Trust.
That’s all I wanted.
And despite how reluctant Clementine seemed, she bit down on her bottom lip and nodded slowly.
"Promise me you won’t push yourself."
"I promise."
Morr scoffed from the side.
[If things get too dangerous in there, I have an ability to pull you out. Rest easy and do whatever you have to do.]
