Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 171: Fateful Encounter [ 1 ]
He’s never told me his name, but...
"Aren’t you that guy who wears a cape?"
"What are you talking about?"
He tilted his head slightly.
"For a first meeting, I’d appreciate some respect."
He seemed genuine.
Though, I can’t shake the feeling that the trickster is this guy.
And if he was... I didn’t want to fight him.
It wasn’t that he was powerful, but he had a very annoying Gift that I recall very well.
Regression.
Whenever he dies, he goes back in time exactly 1 hour.
Hence the name trickster.
He always knew what was going to happen in the future, since he would just scout the area, kill himself, and then give the main character all the info.
I’d much rather recruit him.
"Are you here for our bounties?"
At Clementine’s question, the man just tapped his scythe and smirked at her.
"I was just passing by. Hearing the commotion, I couldn’t help but come and check it out, you know?"
"Right. Well, Clementine, if you don’t mind, I’ll do a quick test."
She seemed a little puzzled by what I meant.
But clearly not the man in front of us.
Black lightning surrounded my body. In the next instant, the stones under my foot crumbled as my body shot forward at a ridiculous speed, reappearing in front of the scythe-wielding man.
I threw a punch, and he perfectly blocked it by just slightly moving his head to the side.
In that split moment, an arrogant smile spread across his face.
I used Telekinesis and forced his head straight into my fist.
However, he quickly reacted by bringing his scythe down on my head, leaving me no choice but to use my black lightning to teleport behind him and strike his back.
He instantly parried my attack and swung his scythe in an arc, aiming to lop my head off.
It was incredibly slow because of the Control Field.
But I was amused.
He knew exactly what kind of moves I’d make.
It was almost like he had experienced them before.
Which would only be possible if he’s the trickster.
A wide smile appeared on my face as I reinforced my body with Atomic Stabilization and Black Lightning, catching the tip of his scythe with one finger.
CRACK!
RUMBLEEE!
A large crater formed under my feet, but because we were already atop the peak of a mountain, there wasn’t anywhere for the crater to go but down.
It crumbled, sending debris and rubble down toward the city, threatening to crush everyone.
The trickster, whose scythe I had stopped with one finger, immediately reacted, abandoning his scythe and diving down.
He jumped from one pile of debris to another, kicking them away so none would land on the people of the city.
But he was only one person.
Someone whose past I didn’t know, nor the reason why he acted so righteously, to the point of basically putting his life on the line for people he didn’t know.
Honestly?
I was moved.
Very moved.
Though I was also a little confused.
Why is he going through this if he knew I would use my Telekinesis to save all these people?
Could the ’me’ he fought let all the rubble fall onto the people?
I may be merciless, but unless I have a reason, I would never kill innocents.
So with that in mind, I snapped my fingers, causing every single piece of rubble to freeze just mere meters away from hitting a person or destroying a building.
In an instant, the whole crisis was avoided.
There’s no way a future existed where I let all that debris fall.
I was 100% certain of that.
Focusing on all the debris, I brought it back to the top where I was. After separating the trickster from the debris, I tossed all the debris far off into the distance.
Whereas for the trickster, I set him down a few meters from Clementine.
He was stunned, staring at me with his mouth wide open.
Did I break him or something?
Hopefully not...
I don’t want him becoming stupider than he already was.
Firmly gripping his scythe, I flew down, landing not too far away.
I approached him, and once I was close enough, I tossed his scythe to the ground, embedding it into the stone as though I was tossing an axe into wood.
"Now then, let’s not do that again, yeah?"
The trickster paused.
"Yeah... Let’s call a truce for a bit."
He glanced down at the city, then exhaled a relieved breath.
"Thanks for helping out."
"Don’t mention it."
Clementine coughed once, then chimed in.
"I couldn’t help but notice that you don’t really know how to fight. You can dodge well and all, but those strikes were really weak. And you’re what, Grade 40? How can you get to Grade 40 by only dodging?"
Heh.
The trickster’s ears flushed with both anger and embarrassment.
"You... You’re telling me I can’t fight? You know if I was fighting Amon elsewhere, I would’ve won, right? The only reason I had to back off was because the people were in danger."
Is he forgetting that I caught his attack with a single finger?
Either way...
"How many attempts did it take you to memorize my attack pattern?"
At my words, the trickster suddenly froze. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
He met my eyes, and it looked as though he had seen a ghost.
"Pardon?"
"You know what I’m asking. And if I know myself well enough, I’m sure this isn’t the first time we’ve had this conversation."
In short, I didn’t want to waste any time, since the more time we spent up here talking, the more time I was giving reinforcements to arrive.
So, being as blunt as I possibly can, I asked a question.
"Are you the person with the Regression Gift or not?"
The moment I uttered those words, my Blood Sight picked up on his elevated heart rate and increased blood pressure.
That alone was enough to tell me everything I needed to know.
All but one thing, rather.
"What’s your name?"
