Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Who Doesn’t Have a Good Man

Liao Yongzhong had a good impression of Yi Roujing: she was attractive, had great poise, and carried herself well. She seemed like a suitable match for his son, but he wondered about her family background.

"Does this comrade have a partner?" Liao Yongzhong casually inquired.

Fan Yuanrong was even more surprised; it only took one meeting to make such an impression.

Yi Roujing was equally surprised and replied with a smile, "Thank you for your appreciation, Director Liao, but I’m already married."

"Indeed, competent individuals usually have no worries about finding someone," Liao Yongzhong responded with a cheerful laugh.

They met once in the hospital department and again downstairs when they were about to go for a meal. Liao Yongzhong was standing in front of Feng Lishu, talking with a smile. Feng Lishu’s side profile showed a smile, but Yi Roujing thought it looked somewhat forced.

"Roujing—" Feng Lishu saw Yi Roujing walking out and immediately waved her hand with a bounce and a laugh.

Liao Yongzhong also looked over and recalled something his son had mentioned; it clicked for him that it was Yi Roujing’s brother-in-law who had fought with his son.

"What a coincidence," Liao Yongzhong, as an elder, suggested treating Feng Lishu and Yi Roujing to a meal.

"Mr. Liao, you’re too kind, but you’re a busy person; we can’t take up your time," Feng Lishu said with a smile, politely declining, and Liao Yongzhong did not insist.

"Seems like you really don’t like the Liao Family," Yi Roujing said as she watched Liao Yongzhong’s figure fade away. "Coincidentally, I don’t like him either."

"Right? Isn’t he annoying?" Feng Lishu seemed to find a kindred spirit, "Aunt Ning, Shiqi’s mother, is a good person, kind-hearted. When my mom fell and went into early labor while giving birth to me, she had a severe hemorrhage. The hospital’s blood supply was insufficient, and it was Aunt Ning who donated blood and saved both our lives."

"Our family has always been grateful to the Liao Family, staying in touch, but I only like Aunt Ning," Feng Lishu said whimsically, "She always takes me out for good food."

"I feel that Aunt Ning’s relationship with Mr. Liao isn’t very close. Aunt Ning comes over to my house more often, and I don’t really go to the Liao household. Aunt Ning also mentioned she would drop by occasionally, telling me not to visit to avoid a wasted trip."

"But now, Aunt Ning is not well and needs rest, so we haven’t seen each other in a long time," Feng Lishu said, "Anyway, let’s not dwell on it. Let’s go eat; I’m treating today." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Would you like to come over for dinner tonight?" Yi Roujing asked knowingly.

"Since you’re inviting me, I’ll come, and I’ll help out," Feng Lishu agreed happily, linking arms with Yi Roujing as they headed to the canteen.

At 5:30, Yi Roujing tidied up and by the time she went downstairs, Feng Lishu was already waiting with a bulging cloth bag, different from her usual work bag.

"I brought this," Feng Lishu sneakily opened the bag to reveal several canned goods, though they weren’t fruit preserves.

"These were sent from the provincial city by my uncle: meat cans, fish cans, and fermented black bean paste. I brought one of each. We can try them tonight, and that means we can make fewer dishes. Cans are perfect for summer, I think."

"Then we get to share in your good fortune," Yi Roujing said with a laugh.

Yi Roujing and Feng Lishu walked among the after-work crowd, the air filled with the scent of hard work. Just after they stepped out of the factory gate, standing under a street tree, Liao Shiqi was eye-catching with his polished hair and a bicycle by his side.

Feng Lishu slightly furrowed her brow.

"Mr. Liao—" A fragrant silhouette, slightly out of place with the surroundings, suddenly passed by Yi Roujing and Feng Lishu. The enticing soapy aroma lifted spirits despite the heat.

"It’s Ye Xiangli," Feng Lishu whispered to Yi Roujing in a surprised tone.

Ye Xiangli, in a short-sleeved blue dress and white sandals, swayed her twin black braids, exuding youthful vitality and a touch of girlish shyness as she approached Liao Shiqi.

"Xiangli," Liao Shiqi noticed Ye Xiangli, clearly appreciating her well-groomed appearance, lipstick accentuating her brilliant aura, "You look lovely today."

Upon hearing this, Ye Xiangli lowered her head, her pretty face slightly red, sneaking a few glances at Liao Shiqi, her eyes filled with shy affection.

"Let’s eat and then catch a movie," Liao Shiqi said as he hopped onto his bicycle using a rock as leverage, signaling Ye Xiangli to get on. Once she was on, he pedaled confidently and rode away.

As he passed by Yi Roujing and Feng Lishu, Liao Shiqi gave a smug grunt, a hint of pride and mockery. Ye Xiangli didn’t say a word but glanced back at them, much like a triumphant peacock, lacking its grandeur, more like a small-time pretender.

"I can’t believe these two got together," Feng Lishu was quite surprised, then nodded, "But they do kind of match, wish them forever happiness."

Yi Roujing burst out laughing, reminded of a classic saying: "Pair a scoundrel with a dog, and they’ll last forever."

The duo was unfazed as Ding Anmin, Yi Weiliang, and Yi Weijun later joined them. The five walked to Bright Alley and at the alley entrance, they met Ding Anguo and Huang Xiaobao riding over on bicycles.

"Ding Anguo—" Upon seeing him, Feng Lishu was ecstatic, jumping and waving to ensure he wouldn’t miss her.

"Anmin—" Huang Xiaobao, spotting Ding Anmin, sped up, then screeched to a stop beside her, deftly took her cloth bag, and hung it on his bicycle handle with practiced ease.

"Ding Anguo, I brought something delicious," Feng Lishu beamed as she revealed the cans from her bag to Ding Anguo, her sunny smile sparking shared excitement.

Ding Anguo curved his lips, peered over slowly, and said, "I packed some caramelized sweet potatoes from work today."

"Wow, I love that the most," Feng Lishu’s eyes sparkled. Seeing it, Ding Anguo took her bag, handed her the aluminum lunch box containing the sweet potatoes, knowing full well it was her favorite—a rarity as it consumed a lot of sugar.

All these couples were indeed loving, thought Yi Roujing. However, now single and alone, she declared it was enough for now; she hadn’t even eaten yet and didn’t want to feel full just from this display.

"Why are you all standing outside?" Ding Ancheng spoke up, having heard noises from inside but seeing no one arriving, and opened the gate to address everyone.

"Big brother," Huang Xiaobao was startled, quickly stood to attention, and bowed in greeting to Ding Ancheng, who nodded in acknowledgment.

"Today, I made braised pork trotters," Ding Ancheng’s tone softened when talking to Yi Roujing, "And there are peaches and melons too, gifts from a colleague."

"Wow—" Yi Roujing happily walked in, sending a flirtatious smile to Ding Ancheng, feeling a sudden pride: who doesn’t have a good man too?
