Chapter 186: Chapter 186: So They’ve Agreed

Feng Guolun and Ruan Qingru had just returned; it took them two and a half days to go and come back from the provincial city. Both of them were somewhat exhausted, but as soon as they entered the power plant’s gate, they heard others discussing, and the subject of discussion turned out to be their own daughter.

Rumors tend to distort the truth as they spread, but the one confirmed fact was that their daughter had admitted having a partner, openly rejected Liao Shiqi, and that the two men had a physical altercation.

"Tell me, what exactly happened?" Feng Guolun looked at his only daughter and asked gently, "I don’t believe what outsiders say; I want to hear it from you."

"Dad, I’ve told you and Mom many times, I don’t like that Liao Shiqi, not one bit. In fact, I hate him, but he keeps interfering in my matters and even claims to be my partner outside; he’s crazy." Feng Lishu was truly furious.

Ruan Qingru frowned upon hearing this, "You’re a young lady, you shouldn’t say everything you think out loud."

"I didn’t say anything wrong. I’ve tried talking nicely to Liao Shiqi before, but he wouldn’t care. I even insulted him in rejection, and he still wouldn’t care. If that’s not crazy, then what is? Just like his father, their family doesn’t have anyone normal." Feng Lishu’s chest was heaving with anger, and her face turned red.

"I asked you to explain the situation," Feng Guolun sighed and said, "You don’t like him; didn’t Dad support you? I never asked you to date anyone."

"But you never said no to him either," Feng Lishu’s tone softened slightly. She had been treating Liao Shiqi nicely because of her father’s reputation. After all, Liao Yongzhong was the director of the Gomei Committee. She could care less, but her father had to give them face. Hence, she kept enduring.

"A few days ago, Liao Shiqi came to block my way again. I kept rejecting him, but he kept pestering me. Coincidentally, I met my colleague, whom I mentioned previously—Roujing."

"You weren’t at home, so I went to her house for a meal. I brought some ingredients from home and helped cook. They reciprocated by inviting me for lunch and a movie yesterday. After the movie, we encountered Liao Shiqi at the cinema entrance. I was standing there with Roujing’s brother-in-law, Ding Anguo, while the others went to the restroom."

"Liao Shiqi came up and hit Ding Anguo and said some very nasty things to us. I can’t even repeat them."

"Ding Anguo didn’t know Liao Shiqi. He was inexplicably attacked, so of course, he fought back. Liao Shiqi wasn’t his match and ended up getting beaten down."

"There were so many people around, so I lied and said Ding Anguo was my partner, calling Liao Shiqi the third party ruining our relationship. If I hadn’t said that, the bad reputation would have fallen on me and Ding Anguo. I couldn’t let him get his way."

Feng Guolun came to understand, "What does that Ding Anguo do?"

"When we were returning, we also ran into your Mr. Yin. I heard you talked to Mr. Yin about that Yi Roujing wanting her mother’s brother to come to our plant as an apprentice electrician?" Ruan Qingru said, "Did they know who you were and deliberately approached you?"

"Mom, could you not think of my friends like that?" Feng Lishu said, visibly displeased, "Roujing is capable on her own and has recently been transferred to the surgery room as a nurse based on her abilities. Her brother-in-law Ding Anguo is an official worker in the County Government office. You work at the county government too; haven’t you heard of him?"

"Roujing’s husband, Ding Ancheng, is a teacher at County First Middle School. They’re all capable people; do they need us? I only asked her to accompany me home, and when we got to the plant, I happened to see the recruitment notice on the bulletin board."

"I mentioned offering help, but Roujing refused. However, Mr. Yin happened to come by, and I casually mentioned it. It’s just an apprentice position; they can get in on their abilities."

Upon hearing that their family was full of capable people, Ruan Qingru’s expression softened a bit.

"By the way, Roujing’s husband’s sister, Ding Anmin, works in the finance department at the food factory. Do you know who her partner is?" Feng Lishu teased.

"Who?" Feng Guolun asked with a smile.

Feng Lishu pouted arrogantly, "It’s Huang Xiaobao, the son of the brick factory manager."

"Wan Baohua’s son!" Ruan Qingru was taken aback. Wan Baohua is the head of the tax office, so she definitely knew him.

"The Huang Family cherishes Anmin dearly. I didn’t know until yesterday at the movie when I saw Huang Xiaobao there too. The elderly lady from the Huang Family specially came from Jing City, and they are already picking a date for the wedding." Feng Lishu snorted, "You say Roujing and her family intentionally approached us? There’s no need, especially since I was the one who approached them first."

"No wonder," Feng Guolun realized, "I’ve heard the Huang Family matriarch came to the county. It wasn’t supposed to be until later—now I see it’s because of this."

In the south, winter is warm, and the Huang Family used to come in the fall and winter.

"Does your colleague’s family have some background?" Ruan Qingru asked.

"No, they’re from Dingping Production Team," Feng Lishu replied bluntly, "They’re truly remarkable. The Huang Family doesn’t need to rely on younger generations marrying for status. Mom, you should learn from them."

Feng Lishu’s words earned a glare from Ruan Qingru, "But you’ve already put it out there; how is Ding Anguo supposed to find a partner now?"

Feng Lishu’s eyes flashed as she muttered, "Then I might as well truly be his partner."

Feng Guolun laughed heartily, pointing at Feng Lishu, "So you’ve taken a fancy to him, and said all this on purpose. Find some time to bring him home for me and your mom to see."

"Dad, it’s too early to say anything now. I’m worried that if I scare him, he’ll avoid me in the future." Feng Lishu sighed, looking down.

"My daughter is pretty, comes from a good family, has a good job—what’s there that Ding Anguo wouldn’t be satisfied with?" Ruan Qingru glared at Feng Lishu, "Liao Shiqi isn’t bad either; I can’t understand why you don’t like him."

"Mom, Liao Shiqi is nuts, and his dad as well," Feng Lishu frowned, " I’ve always felt like Liao Shiqi’s father looked at me strangely when I was young. I never liked playing with Liao Shiqi and hated going to their house."

"How is his gaze strange? We’ve never noticed. You’re just seeing things with biased eyes," Ruan Qingru frowned.

"His dad’s gaze on young girls is just weird. I can’t quite explain it; I just don’t like it, nor do I like Liao Shiqi," Feng Lishu said, pouting and frowning.

"Alright, alright, if you don’t like him, you don’t like him. Next time Dad sees him, I’ll help you reject him, just say you already have a partner," Feng Guolun said as he gently ruffled his daughter’s hair.

"You’re indulging her," Ruan Qingru pinched her husband, "Forget it, I’m going to cook now, do as you wish."

"Dad, did Mom agree?" Feng Lishu asked joyfully; the biggest reason she’d been tolerating Liao Shiqi was because of Ruan Qingru. Years ago, when Ruan Qingru had a difficult childbirth and faced excessive bleeding, it was Liao Shiqi’s mom who donated blood; the two women had been very good friends ever since.

"Yes, I think she did," Feng Guolun said, smiling at the busy silhouette of his wife.
