Transmigrated as a Ghost-Chapter 1140 Lyra’s Supreme Skill
Marcus hardly had any time to be astonished by the vast destruction caused by his and Gronex’s clash of magic.
Off in the distance, he could see a vicious clash as Quillon and Lyra fought for their lives.
The thunderous molten colossus Marcus had conjured was still standing and attempting to join in, but the battle was simply too fast for the hulking construct to keep up. While Gronex was hardly moving it served its purpose well, but now that the massive dragon was flying around at incredible speeds, there was nothing it could do.
To conserve a bit of mana, Marcus dropped the combination spell maintaining the creature and rushed to aid his friends who were struggling now that he was not there to support them.
The moment he arrived, Marcus conjured shields around his two companions and sent off a storm of mid-tier spells to garner the Laval Dragon’s attention. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Gronex, for his part, looked a bit surprised to see Marcus already joining the fray. Though, there was a hint of joy in the dragon’s eyes since it could continue enjoying the battle.
’He basically blocked and overwhelmed my best shot. Do either of you have a way to turn this around?’ Marcus asked over telepathy.
Quillon had already used some of the powers offered to him by one of his Supreme Skills, but he still had another he had not busted out yet.
As for Lyra, she was keeping her only Supreme Skill in reserve as well. However, Marcus figured that now was hardly the time to do so, even though he knew that Lyra and Quillon’s strongest skills put an immense strain on them.
’No way in hell we’re letting Quillon use his other Supreme Skill. That power is really only for a do or die situation and we aren’t there yet. I’ll use mine, even if I’m not sure how effective it will really be. But I’m going to need some time to focus since I’m going to be trying something I’ve never done. Both of you will need to keep that dragon away from me until I’m ready.’ Lyra responded, a bit of hesitancy in her tone.
Marcus knew broadly what Lyra’s Supreme Skill was capable of, but from what she had said, he felt that she was going to be doing something he did not expect and carried some amount of risk with it.
Nevertheless, their current opponent was hardly a beast that they could handle. As it was, they were barely holding their own.
Marcus might have had a couple more cards of his own that he could pull out if things got desperate enough, but he was really hoping not to need to use them. Otherwise, he was already fighting at full force and had nothing else to draw on.
While there was no certainty that they could do so, Marcus and Quillon gave Lyra their agreement and promised to keep her safe while she prepared.
To start, Quillon used another of his Ten Greatest Techniques to strike back at Gronex for the first time in a while, and Marcus followed up with two powerful spells to push the giant dragon back.
"Okay, you can do this. It should be possible, so don’t think about any consequences later. All that matters is right now." Lyra muttered to herself to strengthen her resolve.
Once she had cleared her mind, she focused on her Supreme Skill and activated it.
The power she gained for completing the special dungeon was called Ability Evolution. As its name implied, it was a skill that boosted the potency of the wielder’s racial abilities. With a limit of three times a day.
On the wrong entity, it could end up being practically worthless if they did not possess any useful race abilities to begin with. Fortunately, Lyra’s evolution had her reaching a realm akin to a mythic grade beast, and she had plenty of powerful abilities to use her Supreme Skill on.
However, there was a racial ability that all evolved beast people obtained.
Awaken, this power was what allowed Lyra and others of her kind to fully unleash their bestial powers for a limited time.
For Lyra, it allowed her to become a nine tailed golden fox. In this state, she already boasted a great deal of power, but it was far from sufficient to face a dragon that had several levels on her.
It did not help that her strongest attacks were fire based.
When she had tested her Fox Fire on Gronex, despite her flames having special portieres, she had been unable to so much as singe the enormous Lava Dragon.
Yet, what sort of new powers might she receive if she used her Supreme Skill on her Awaken ability.
She had already tested it once before, but this time she planned to push herself to go higher.
In her practice run, she had evolved Awaken once and stopped there since even just that had put immense strain on her.
Yet this time, she planned to evolve the powerful ability three times in succession. Bringing it to heights unknown.
Normally this would not be possible, since her Ability Evolution could not target the same ability twice but Awaken chaged every time she used it since it turned her into a completely different type of entity when used.
This was certainly some sort of loophole in the skill, and Lyra could not help but feel that it was intentionally left by the Administer.
’Certainly, we received those black skill orbs from the special dungeon, but I have no doubt that she is the one who picked them out for us. If the administrator didn’t want me doing this. She would have put some sort of limit on the skill to stop me.’
Ready to begin, Lyra evolved her Awaken ability for the first time and then activated.
Immediately her form began to change.
The differences were not drastic, but her previously fully golden tails now sported red, blue, brown, and green stripes. Each one symbolizing her mastery over the four basic elements of fire, water, earth, and wind.
She had tried out this form once before, and while it was powerful, she doubted that it would be enough to meaningfully fight against Gronex.
"This is as draining to maintain as I remembered. But I need to go further beyond this." Lyra said as she evolved and activated her Awaken ability again.
