Transmigrated as a Ghost-Chapter 1139 Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon Vs an Ancient Mythic Beast (2)
Gronex went flying back from the force of his own charge and crashed into the molten sea several kilometers away from where he had been hit by Quillon’s Supreme Skill.
A massive splash of magma erupted from the impact and a surge of molten rock rushed in all directions as if a massive storm had suddenly appeared.
"Thanks for covering me. I was honestly starting to panic a bit when I saw a gigantic dragon flying directly for me." Marcus said, a wide grin on his face.
"Don’t patronize me. Out of all of us you have the most means of surviving just about anything."
Quillon obviously did not believe that Marcus had been in any real danger and had simply interjected because he thought that it would be a good opportunity to deliver a powerful blow against their opponent.
However, despite the heavy hit that Gronex had just taken, it was far from enough to bring down a mythic beast of his level.
Still, it had been the first attack to cause him any damage, even if it had really been the force of his own charge that had harmed him.
"Yes! That’s more like it! Fight harder and finally bring me some exhilaration!" Gronex roared as he rose up out of the magma that had engulfed him.
The injuries he had incurred were already beginning to heal rapidly, and it would only be a few moments until the ruler of the molten sea had fully recovered.
Of course, now that they had seized the initiative, Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon were not going to let it go easily.
Without needing to communicate with each other, the three of them took off and closed the distance between them and Gronex within a single second.
Marcus cast several spells to restrain the enormous beast, while Lyra utilized her clones and illusions to obscure his senses.
"First Form, Typhoon Fang. Plus, Ten Greatest Techniques, Shattering Blow." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Jumping into a slight gap in Gronex’s defenses, Quillon’s blade was able to reach the dragon’s scales once again.
Except this time, he did not struggle to breach his opponent’s durable hide.
His sword hit against the Lava Dragon’s chest and web like pattern cut through its hard scales.
The area Quillon had struck around broke apart and innumerable shattered scales fell into the magma below.
With Gronex’s outer defenses completely destroyed, Quillon’s blade sank in deeply and left a grievous gash that oozed the blood of an ancient dragon.
Yet, the attack came to a stop before reaching the ruler of the molten sea’s heart. A powerful barrier was suddenly erected and pushed Quillon back.
"ROOOAAAAARRRR!!!!!"
Gronex roared out in true pain from the severe damage Quillon had managed to inflict. His Supreme Skill had once again proven itself to be greater than even the natural powers of a dragon.
Nevertheless, such an immense and hardy beast would not be brought down so easily. And it was this heavy wound that finally made the Lava Dragon finally start taking this battle more seriously.
The magma all around them began to roil. Giant pillars of the molten rock shot up all around Gronex and forced Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon to back off or be consumed.
As much as it seemed that this display was merely a beast raging at being hurt, it was clear to the three of them that this was not the case.
All of the magma in the surrounding area had been infused with Gronex’s mana and spiritual energy. This was an attack with the intent to kill them.
Once the molten rock had risen into the air, most of it did not fall back down into the sea below.
Instead, it stayed hovering in the air and molded itself into the shapes of various weapons.
It was an awe-inspiring display of power, as tens of thousands, perhaps even over a hundred thousand weapons made of magma all took form and seamlessly obeyed the will of a single entity.
Then like something out of a bullet hell game, the weapons went flying towards Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon.
"This is insane! How is he even controlling all of this?!" Marcus complained as he dodged and defended.
He could not imagine the level of intense concentration it took to accurately move so many objects at once and have them chase after three different targets.
Still, Marcus’ astonishment was about to increase tenfold.
While manipulating the magma weapons he had conjured, Gronex flew up into the air and joined the attack himself. With all the fierceness he had earlier. It was as if the magic he was using did not take any of his focus away.
Despite his massive size, the ruler of the molten sea moved swiftly and viciously.
Every attack was akin to a natural disaster, and Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon could only dart around like insects as a giant tried to swat them.
’Damn it. There’s hardly any time to even think. How the hell are we supposed to even fight something like this?’
Marcus was busy not only keeping himself from being torn apart but protecting Quillon as well.
After taking two heavy blows from the master swordsman’s Supreme Skill, Gronex was relentlessly pursuing Quillon.
’Iron Ramparts.’
As the massive Lava Dragonw as about to rip into Quillon with one of its claws, Marcus hastily conjured a sturdy and giant wall in front of his friend.
The spell did not even hold up for a second and was easily torn apart by the razor sharp claws Gronex wielded. Still, it was barely enough for Quillon to create some distance and continue running away while looking for a chance to counterattack.
For nearly three minutes, the ebb and flow of the battle constantly changed as Marcus, Quillon, and Lyra slowly became accustomed to the endless attacks from flying weapons made of magma.
Yet, as they were beginning to get complacent, Gronex suddenly changed up his attack pattern.
When Marcus used another spell to shield Quillon, the gargantuan dragon turned around with agility that was unbelievable given his size.
All Marcus saw was a glowing purple blur coming towards him faster than he could respond.
There was not time to cast a spell or focus on a point of escape with one of his movement unique skills.
At the absolute last moment, utilizing all of his battle reflexes, Marcus was able to avoid being completely ripped apart.
However, his left arm and leg had been torn off and the gray mist that was his essence was pouring out of the heavy wounds.
’Ultimate Refresh.’
Engulfed by silver light, Marcus’ lost limbs instantly recovered and his mana and stamina fully replenished.
He had been hoping to hold off on using another of his limited chances to fully restore himself, but he had to, or he was going to be destroyed.
After viciously attacking Marcus, Gronex had just as swiftly turned around and opened his mouth.
A bright light was growing in his throat, and without any delay, the powerful Lava Dragon released his breath attack.
Just barely, Marcus was able to activate his Light Speed Movement unique skill and get away. Had he been even a moment later, he would have been consumed by the fast-moving stream of molten rock that was infused with spiritual energy to make sure that it hit him even if he went intangible.
"I didn’t want to have to do this, but I don’t really have a choice. Dark Matter."
Holding both of his hands in front of him, Marcus felt his mana depleting at an alarming rate. Even when he cast multiple tier eight spells at the start of the battle, it had been nothing compared to this. That was simply how powerful a tier ten spell was.
Sensing a legitimate threat to his life, Gronex exploded with his own mana and met Marcus’ attack head on with his own. He would challenge power with power and overwhelm his opponent.
"World Wave."
Simultaneous tier ten spells were cast at the same time, and reality seemed to warp around the two entities that had conjured the highest level of magic.
The very earth around them became like puddy for Gronex to manipulate and formed into what appeared to be an unending swell of rock and dirt.
At the same time, Marcus released the darkness he had conjured, and in a flash, it consumed everything in front of it.
A force that destroyed everything and an unending wave of earth met and fought against each other.
In the beginning of the clash, Marcus’ spell seemed to be winning, as it blasted through Gronex’s and left cracks in very fabric of space.
Except, the immense mass that the Lava Dragon controlled only continued to grow. Eventually becoming more than what Marcus’ magic could handle.
’Shi-’
Before he knew it, Marcus had been hit by a force so heavy that it knocked him senseless.
A literal mountain of earth had collapsed on him, and when he tried to escape by entering his full ghost form, he found that he was wrapped up in his enemy’s spiritual energy and unable to escape.
If there was any solace, it was that his own spell had exhausted most of the power of Gronex’s World Wave.
He managed to escape with only severe injuries and was able to use his Ultimate Refresh again to heal himself.
’Rending void.’
Casting a tier six darkness magic spell, Marcus cut through the pile of dirt that had collapsed on top of him and made his way back to an open area above.
When he arrived, he found that the landscape had been completely changed.
The magma sea was fragmented by large fissures and mounds of stone and soil.
Also, the ceiling that had once covered this place and made it part of the Darklands was gone. Marcus’ and Gronex’s tier ten spells clashing had annihilated the rocky roof that had concealed the magma sea and exposed the area to the world above.
