Transcending Realms With My Leveling System As A Demon-Chapter 120: Zylus vs The Orthus 2
The same blood sickles that deflected right off the creature’s skin had now come back to Zylus’s hands.
"This is fucking sick," Zylus averted his gaze from the weapons to the creature now chasing after him, "Let’s do this shit."
He held them by their handles; the curved reddish blade had blood dripping down from the tip. Zylus gripped onto them just as he would with his Demonic Weapon.
But this wasn’t part of his Demonic Weapon; this was ’Oathbound.’
His elemental magic is now turning into a weapon for close combat. Zylus was an assassin and a mage at the same time. He was quick, shifty, strong, and above all else, adaptable.
As the creature began to lung itself forward towards Zylus, acknowledging Zylus had nothing more in his arsenal, Zylus waited for a second, smiling the entire process.
"Not yet," Zylus hid the blood sickles behind his back, the creature still speeding towards him rapidly, "Not yet..."
Zylus couldn’t see its movements, but what he was able to do was feel the terrain. Once the terrain became flat once more, and when Zylus initiated his [Human System], it felt as though they became one.
The blood all over the sand below could’ve also been part of this cause. His oathbound may be connected to the simple terrain via the bloodstained sand over however many long generations.
Thus, he felt adjustable once more. Zylus breathed in and out carefully, implanting his legs into the sand below as blood dripped from his right foot.
He closed his eyes because he wouldn’t be able to measure the pacing of The Orthus, given his current limitations from the quest.
Bam.
That was the first thing he had sensed, but it wasn’t that just yet. The creature was getting closer now from the right.
"No, that’s not right."
Zylus then sensed it from his left side; it was as if The Orthus was teleproting from one area to another, forget speed, this seemed more like teleportation.
Amongst all this, Zylus sneered, "Come closer."
The Orthus was still too far for Zylus to use any of his abilities just yet; thus, he waited. It was also evident to him that hitting the Orthus anywhere else but the jaw area would result in instantaneous death, given how hard and defensive its body and scales are.
The only area that was available for him to strike cleanly, without much percussion, was the facial region.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Then, he sensed it from in front. The Orthus, for some reason new how to move steadily without much sound, ones that Zylus wouldn’t be able to sense without activating his [OathBound].
Just then, Zylus felt the mythical beast’s breath run across his face. Zylus rapidly opened his eyes, moving his sickles around with precise judgment.
Though the creature wasn’t there, not at all. The Orthus was...
Zylus felt the breath again from behind, one that he didn’t sense.
"Jjjjjjjisssss!" The creature’s teeth came inches away from biting him.
Zylus’s shocked face made both heads that now came from the same direction on The Orthus grin. They had finally believed that this was enough to outplay Zylus.
At this point, he wouldn’t be able to escape from their grasp, because the creature was far too quick.
Zylus had been given limitations physically, but never once did that relate to his mental prowess.
He closed his eyes again, feeling their spits brush right across his face, when he pulled both sickles out.
"Got you," Zylus whispered, opening his arms on separate sides, then jumping into the air.
The Orthus looked up, Zylus was about one-hundred feet in the air by the time they viewed him. His silhouette covered the sun from above, but his widened sneer was clear to the creature.
Zylus aimed his sickles towards The Orthus, as though he was about to throw them, but, for some reason, he only had one of them in his hand.
The Orthus, acknowledging this, looked around, weary of his plan and what Zylus was trying to do with the other Sickle.
Zylus chuckled, moving forward at one-thousand kilometers per hour, "I never said the blades aren’t with me," he paused, moving forward at quick speeds, "You just thought it wasn’t."
The Orthus was about to move, but it hesitated. Upon seeing that Zylus had only one blood sickle with him, both heads pondered on the belief that if they were to dodge this now, his other one would come jarring into their face from behind somehow.
"That was your flaw." Zylus saw them hesitate and wasted no more time, "You use your brain too much."
Sckkkkrkrkrkkrkrkr!
"Ahhhhh!" Zylus pierced both heads from above, then ran across the neck, sliding the sickles into their malleable skin, "Ehhhhhh!"
He moved with intense pace, as the Orthus growled in pain, "Get outplayed..."
If Zylus tried going for the Orthus initially, then that would’ve been a fail. The creature was much smarter and much faster than he was. Zylus also had the factor of being restricted to use any usable skill or technique with his [Demon System]; thus, it wouldn’t have benefited him much to activate the others. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
In that very moment, Zylus decided to hide one of his sickles inside his suit’s navy blue vest. The Orthus was a heavy overthinker, so no wonder it overthought this aspect, believing that Zylus had something else up his sleeve.
But the reason it did was because of how Zylus was moving. It calculated everything from his movements, the number of times he smiled, their sensation of how he felt, and perceived fear and pain.
But one thing the Orthus didn’t know was that Zylus couldn’t feel fear.
"Hehe," Zylus breathed in and out calmly, watching the Orthus fall to its knees, pouring out blood, "Thought it would’ve been more difficult."
Zylus...
Had finally won, or so he believed.
He waited before celebrating. Zylus couldn’t have been too confident.
And then...
It moved.
But that didn’t last long.
Stab!
