Top Gamer Reincarnated as an Archmage-Chapter 69: Mercenary Inn
"I see," Klaus stared down at the ground, the meaning behind Orined’s words shocked him down to his core completely. He wasn’t prepared for something like that, not yet, not even close.
"However, you shall leave now," Orined sighed as he leaned back, staring at the mesmerising blue sky that stretched ahead of them like an endless ocean.
"Already? It felt like I only spent a couple of hours here," Klaus chuckled, but he already knew years could have passed inside, and months outside.
"Yeah, it did," Orined also let out a chuckle, "at least I wasn’t alone for once."
’...’ Klaus thought about it, it must have been lonely to be alone for an eternity, without anyone whatsoever to talk to, or anything at all.
"Can I visit you in the future?" He pushed himself up from the ground, catching Orined off guard with his question.
"Once you manage to open your own realm, yes," he nodded once with a smile, his scar stretching across his face due to his cheeks tightening.
"I see," Klaus looked down at him, their eyes meeting for a split second, then he let out a sigh.
"Then we shall see each other again soon."
As soon as he said that, Orined started laughing hysterically, "I like your confidence!"
He also stood then patted Klaus on the back. He was way taller now, but not even close to his height still.
He started moving his hand in a circle, and a portal started materialising in front of them.
It was blue just like the sky above them, it spiralled like a whirlwind trying to suck things into itself.
Klaus took a deep breath then started walking towards the portal; however, Orined shouted after him.
"And remember!" His voice echoed through the entire forest, making Klaus turn around for a second.
"You are the chosen one!" He pointed at him, "don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!"
Klaus chuckled at his silly words; however, he was glad he believed in him.
"Thank you, I won’t," They both nodded at each other, and Klaus walked through the portal.
In front of him, the temple started materialising again, the same one covered in moss in the jungle. He looked back, and the portal disappeared slowly, dissipating like it never existed to begin with.
’What to do now?’ He looked around, even peeked inside the gate, but it was empty inside; the prophet was nowhere to be seen, nor were the snakes.
He started walking out of the temple and looking around; the trees stood still, leaves moving around due to the wind catching onto them, birds chirped, and the wildlife seemed to be alive; the sun shone through the leaves of the towering jungle trees, the clouds slowly rotating around the sky; everything felt more alive now, now that he could even go as far as to feel the mana alive in the air.
He took a deep breath; it was refreshing; however, it was pretty lackluster compared to the air in the realm.
’Let’s get moving,’ He felt even more powerful now, way stronger than before.
Then the windows started flashing in front of him, pure white as if they were sent from the heavens themselves.

[Reward: upgraded senses even further.]
[Mana channels widened.]
[Mana sense heightened.]
And white screens kept flashing on and on, telling him his mana usage would be way better than before; he would even go as far as to say it was a hundredfold better.
Now he didn’t just want to use mirror movement; he now could use the mana and channel it to his feet; he could feel his legs getting stronger and his muscles tighten; a yellow shine materialised around his feet.
’Mirror movement,’ He disappeared, leaving a crater behind himself; his speed had increased drastically, his movements untraceable as he ran through the jungle.
’This is insane,’ All he needed was half a minute to reach the end of the jungle, spotting a small village in the distance.
Smoke rose from the chimneys; however, he didn’t stop; he kept moving until he was directly next to it, which only took him around a second or two.
He came to a stop, making an explosion echo across the entire village.
’Woah,’ he looked down at his feet; he didn’t even break a sweat or anything; it just felt normal. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Whilst cracking his neck, he walked into the village; wooden and stone houses were lined up; it looked like more of a town than a village modernity-wise; however, it wasn’t big.
Villagers passed by him without a second of hesitation, not even bothering to spare a glance at him.
’Hm?’ he looked up at a sign ahead which said ’mercenary inn.’
’I thought mercenaries would be more...quiet and hidden?’ It was a simple stone building, smoke rising from the chimney; inside, he could tell people were drinking; he could see them through the windows.
So without waiting even further, he pushed the wooden door open; many eyes turned towards him, possibly due to his state and uniform, but they didn’t say a word.
They didn’t openly stare, but he could feel their gazes on him.
He walked towards a counter; a neatly dressed young man stood behind it; he was dressed in a black and white suit almost like a lawyer would be dressed.
His black hair was slicked back, and he was cleaning a glass cup with a pure white handkerchief.
His blue eyes looked Klaus dead in his own, and he smiled once, "How can I help you? Would you perhaps like to register as a mercenary?"
"I can register?" Klaus turned his head; his question made a couple of peers chuckle on the side; however, the man in front of him smiled; he was professional.
"Yes, you can register as a first-rank mercenary, and then you can move your way up to a tenth-rank mercenary." He put the glass cup down and took out a parchment and a quill.
"I just need your name, young sir," he looked down at the paper and cleared his throat, waiting for Klaus.
The inn was loud; however, the name he said next caused complete silence, "My name is Klaus Albrecht Von Alderstein."
