Top Gamer Reincarnated as an Archmage-Chapter 63: Cat Overseer
After some time, he found himself floating in a vast space of nothingness, just pure white like he was in heaven.
He looked down, and it was like his body was standing on a cloud, yes, a single cloud.
He had his academy uniform on, and he could move everything freely.
"Uh, what..." He could even speak, and his voice echoed in the nothingness.
He looked around, his sun-like eyes scanning the endless space; however, he couldn’t see anything or anyone at all.
"I didn’t expect you to evolve so quickly!" But all of a sudden, a voice pierced his thoughts almost like it went through his skull and eardrums, directly into his brain, coming from every direction yet nowhere at the same time.
He instantly clutched his ears as pain shot through his head, like he had just got struck by lightning.
"Oh, sorry!" The voice chuckled, as this time it felt much more pleasant to hear it. "Anyways, we don’t have much time left here before the others find out."
Suddenly, a gigantic cat appeared in front of him; it had yellow fur and eyes, almost like it was Klaus turned into a cat.
"My name is Ar#€£#," Before Klaus could fully make out its name, the system started flashing windows in front of him, beeping the name, which made his ears ring and painful again.
"Fuck," he cursed as he dropped onto the cloud, the panels floating in front of him.
[Information will be available once the host is stronger!]
[Withholding information!]
"It’s okay!" The cat’s claws shot through the panel, destroying it and making it disappear completely, like it was never even there.
’Is it a god?’ Klaus let go of his ears finally as he pushed himself up.
"No, idiot, stand up," He lifted Klaus up completely with a single claw, making sure he wasn’t hurt in any way.
"I’m an overseer; we are short on time," Suddenly, he heard an explosion coming from far away in the whiteness.
"The hell was that—"
Before he could even get the sentence out, the cat-like overseer interrupted him, "Listen, you are here with a purpose; you must find the avatar of Orined to fully evolve your class! After that, you have to keep getting stronger to save €#€#£!"
The system censored the words again, making Klaus’s ears ring, but he resisted the urge to fall this time.
"Save what?" He didn’t know what the cat had meant, "and who is Orined?!" He had many questions, not just about this, but about his reincarnation as well; why was he even reincarnated? He wasn’t anyone special, but it seemed like they didn’t have time for a conversation.
"Tell your headmaster, this ’I had a vision, I must visit the temple of Orined!’ He will understand!" The fat cat seemed to be in a hurry as its yellow eyes flashed around as if searching for something.
"Okay...and then what—"
"Get stronger!" Another explosion resounded in the far distance, but Klaus couldn’t see it or tell where exactly it came from.
"Go now!"
"Wait!" Klaus yet again couldn’t finish as the cat clawed away at him, making his form turn into nothing but dust.
Slowly, his vision began to fade yet again and spin.
Countless colours were emerging and merging together like he was in the middle of a rainbow.
When all of a sudden, he let out a gasp and he was on the floor, the foam from his mouth making him choke as he rolled over on his back.
"Master, answer me!" Jyrana kept banging on the door, which wasn’t even budging.
’Fuck...’ His eyes nearly rolled out of their sockets as he looked at the ceiling, wiping the foam off his mouth.
Then panels appeared again, blinding his vision; however, the panels this time were white instead of their usual blue-pale colour.
[Evolution interrupted!]
[Class: $#€%€ waiting to be unlocked!]
[Host hasn’t met the criteria for full unlocking!]
[Mission unlocked!]
[Find the avatar of Orined, waiting for host in the temple of Orined!]
[Reward: ???]
[Failure: Endless dream state.]
[Time available: 3 days.]
"What..." He muttered out loud, which made Jyrana bang even harder.
"Master, what the hell happened! Hours passed!"
Klaus wanted to answer, but he couldn’t; he couldn’t even find the right words to be used at this point.
’Endless dream state...’ He let out a suffocating chuckle as he kept looking at the panels.
’So basically, death...’ He had no clue why the system phrased it so nicely; however, the reward was just a bunch of question marks floating around, and there was no description to the mission, nothing telling him what to do.
Except his memories; when the words he was just told resurfaced, his mind again.
"He said to tell the headmaster about a vision..." Klaus clutched his head as it was hurting; he didn’t know whether it was due to the fall and him possibly hitting his head, or because of the so-called vision or whatever he just had.
"Fuck," He pushed himself up from the ground, his calves feeling shaky and his quads tightening; his muscles hadn’t felt this alive in ages, yet for some reason, he felt weird.
’Is it because of the fear of death?’ Despite dying once and being reincarnated, the threat of dying wasn’t pleasant, not even to him.
’Three days,’ He took cautious steps towards the door and slid it open; Jyrana nearly jumped onto him, but he extended his hands outwards.
"Master...?" Jyrana just stared at his face like something had changed about him.
"What?" Klaus couldn’t help but ask since he had no clue why she was staring directly; "Is something on my face?"
"No, it’s just...your mana feels completely different...like you’ve just jumped up two levels at least."
As soon as she said that, Klaus remembered the ranks Zephyr had told him about, ’No way...could I have gotten that much stronger just from a failed evolution?’ He couldn’t exactly tell what his rank was, and he didn’t even know how to begin. But Jyrana looked frightened at the sudden strength.
