Top Gamer Reincarnated as an Archmage-Chapter 33: First Day
First-year students rushed down the hallway, excited for their first day. The rest of the years slowly followed after, with the exception of Klaus, who was still busy changing in his room.
’Fuck, why is it so tight?’ He was putting on the pants of the academy uniform, then as soon as he got ready, he looked at Jen with a sad expression.
’I’m going to need you to disappear for a bit,’ she instantly understood and nodded whilst proceeding to vanish.
’Oh...that was fast,’ Klaus was underwhelmed at the sudden display of vanishing so easily. Truth be told, he thought it would be more dramatic.
’Whatever,’ his door slid open in front of him. The hallway was starting to get empty, with only a couple of students still walking out with remorseful expressions.
’It can’t be that bad,’ he followed after two older students who were deathly silent despite the already noticeable commotion outside.
The reception desk was empty, and the old man was nowhere to be found.
’Busy, I guess,’ he walked by without another train of thought and exited the dorms. Outside, the students were already gathered.
In front of them stood Headmaster Marcus, who seemed to be discussing something with the Librarian, who Klaus already recognised.
The air, despite being outside, was filled with the damp sweat of the students and murmurs as Klaus walked forward, searching for two faces he could recognise. However, he didn’t find them.
’Where are Nyra and Evaline?’ He looked around, but the students were so bunched together that he couldn’t see them. He didn’t bother calling out to them, since it wasn’t that important. He would see them eventually.
"Now then," Marcus cleared his throat, and the murmur instantaneously died down. Everyone paid attention to him, even Klaus.
"The first years will be divided into two classes, since not many students enrolled this year," he said. As soon as he said that, multiple murmurs broke out despite it just dying down.
’Shouldn’t this be some cool academy?’ Klaus had expected many students to enrol, but it should’ve been obvious based on the ranking tournament not having many students.
"The two classes are," he looked around and smiled, "Students that finished within the top fifteen in the ranking tournament, they will be in Class A," even more murmurs broke out after he said that.
’So he really is dividing the strong from the weaker students,’ Klaus let out a chuckle and fixed his hair which was beginning to cover his vision.
"And Class B is the rest of the fifteen students," some people started panicking as soon as he said that.
"My parents will kill me!"
"No, no, no, please, I need this."
However, Klaus just stood still with his hands in his pockets, not even being bothered by any of the murmuring folks around him.
"Everyone except the first-year students, please go to your already established classrooms that you have been using the previous years," Marcus turned to Eirlys next to him, who cleared her throat and continued onward.
"Let the first year of many beautiful begin, may all of you gather the experiences you wish!" She bowed and some upper-year students whistled and chuckled as they started walking towards the ginormous building, leaving the first years behind.
As the people simultaneously left into the main building, Klaus was just standing still, looking around when she saw Evaline who waved at him from afar, however, this time she didn’t approach.
’It’s better to spend some time alone anyways, I like the quiet.’ He just waved back with a smile, then he spotted Nyra who seemed to distance herself from everyone whilst reading a book.
He looked around, searching for a specific person, who he ended up finding instantly.
’Hah,’ He scuffed as he saw the shaking Cassian who was avoiding everyone, he was alone, standing next to a wall and holding onto it for dear life.
"Now then," Marcus cleared his throat after every student except the first years left.
"Class A, I will be your homeroom teacher," a man with charcoal hair and obsidian-coloured eyes stepped forward, his outfit was a simple black and white suit, yet it fit him perfectly, not to mention his height, he was extremely tall, way taller than Klaus.
’Hm?’ However, it felt like he was looking at him, only him, directly.
He looked behind him just to make sure, however, no one stood there, so he couldn’t be looking at someone else.
’Does he have some hidden agenda?’ Klaus scuffed as he shook his head. ’No way, I just arrived. What could he possibly want?’
"My name is Korath Draye. I will be with you guys for the remaining years in this academy," he smiled, but it didn’t seem honest at all, it was a forced, fake smile.
"That Draye?!"
"The one who helped slay a dragon?!"
"No way! What is a man like that doing here!?"
Many of the first years erupted as soon as he introduced himself, but Klaus just stood still, dumbfounded since he didn’t have a clue who he was.
’Uhuh, a dragon, huh? I’m assuming that’s a good feat,’ he held his head and wiped his long hair back again.
"Class A, please do follow me," without waiting, he started walking towards the main building, leaving class B and his own students behind.
’Let’s see how this goes,’ Klaus sighed and followed after him, alongside his future classmates.
He looked to the side and saw the ginormous man named Torren from the teachers’ office talking to class B.
The students seemed scared shitless, some even trembled as the gigantic man laughed.
’Thank god,’ Klaus breathed a sigh of relief as he followed the people in front of him into the academy.
The same gigantic doors welcomed him as last time when he entered for the library.
However, this time it was way more beautiful, flowers enveloped the gate, the scent of them was mesmerizing and magical, it basically filled the air completely, making the sweaty smell disappear.
’Am I smelling myself?’ He wanted to smell his clothes, but it would have been embarrassing, so he just went inside instead.
The hallways were nearly empty with only a couple of students wandering around, a huge red carpet was laid out in front of them with golden lining and some kind of golden emblems Klaus didn’t recognise.
The walls were highlighted with hanging paintings of figures that Klaus yet again didn’t know.
Some portrayed people in crowns, and some portrayed wars, but no one even budged to look at them except Klaus.
’Kinda cool,’ he smiled and followed the students again, until they arrived in front of a metallic door, leading into a classroom.
"Everyone, once we step inside, everyone will take a seat. They will be numbered based on your rankings. Take the numbered seat that belongs to you," Korath opened the metallic door. It didn’t even make a sound, just opened smoothly as butter.
’Let’s see.’
