Top Gamer Reincarnated as an Archmage-Chapter 32: Razael The Traitor
Klaus watched without a twitch in his facial expression as the boy in front of him tried to scream in agony from the pain.
He clasped his hands together, trying to signal something to Klaus.
’Oh?’
"Jen, stop for a second," as soon as he said that, Jen took the rod away and grasped it, almost like the torture was having an effect on him.
"Master, I can feel something—"
"Will you obey?" Klaus interrupted Jen, he was becoming obsessed with his own goal now. Jen shuddered for a second as Klaus cut her off, however, she tried not to show it.
Klaus’s eyes were locked with Cassian’s, who had his entire face covered in his own tears and blood, he was nothing but an egoistic kid who had a powerful backer, so he acted out of line.
Klaus could see in Cassian’s eyes that he gave up, his pupils were changed completely, and the look in his eyes betrayed him.
’Let’s go,’ Klaus smiled once and grabbed Jen, "this is what I’m trying to say, master!" She snapped her hands, and the flaming prison disappeared, Cassian’s body started twitching, and she pointed towards a random wall next to them.
"I can feel a surge of mana, we need to go now!" Her tone scared Klaus in all honesty, so he didn’t hesitate, not even for a second.
’Mirror movement,’ instantly he disappeared from the room alongside Jen, down the hallway, and back into his room by spamming the spell through the dormitory.
He dropped onto his bed like nothing had happened, and Jen floated above with a sigh, "the mana outside isn’t calming..." her tone was worried, as if she was scared by the force of whatever was outside.
’If it’s something dangerous, the teachers will likely handle it,’ Klaus wrapped his blanket around himself, not even bothering to shower or change clothes, he didn’t know what got into him in Cassian’s room, nor did he know why he acted like he did, but he for sure didn’t like it.
’Almost like something took over me...’ Even the thought scared him a little as Jen gulped audibly whilst still looking at the wall.
—
Razael lay still on the ground, he wasn’t injured at all, just faking it.
’Is Sir Klaus done?’ Just as he was about to finish the thought, he felt the surge of mana from the room vanish.
’He’s done, time to leave,’ Razael smiled as he looked up at the three teachers who stood, surrounding him like he was finished.
"Korath Draye, it has been a while since we fought, huh?" He disappeared from the ground and appeared on the rooftop of the dormitory, leaving the teachers shocked.
"How do you know my name?" Before Korath could even finish the sentence, he stopped himself and just smiled.
"Ah, I see," he chuckled as the other two just stood still, dumbfounded.
"We should just kill him," Torren lifted his spear, his golden aura starting to rise again. Victor agreed with a nod and steadied himself, however, Korath stopped the two.
"We wouldn’t be able to win."
"What the hell are you talking about, idiot! It’s three versus one!"
"He never intended to win, he just stalled for time." Korath’s revelation stopped the doubting Torren in an instant, Victor just stood still, dumbfounded. Despite his intellect and ability to read people, he didn’t understand what was happening.
"Go back to the teachers’ lounge, I’ll deal with the rest," Korath disappeared, a flaming feather left in the place he stood. As soon as that happened, Razael also vanished from the rooftop without a trace of mana being left behind.
"..." Torren and Victor stood still, dumbfounded.
"Let’s just get some coffee," Torren turned like nothing ever happened and started walking back towards the teachers’ lounge.
"Shouldn’t we check out what happened inside?"
"He said he’ll handle it," Torren didn’t wait for Victor, who was still stood still. Instead, he even hurried his steps to leave him behind.
"Hahh," Victor sighed, looking at the disappearing feather, then he followed Torren.
—
"What brings you here, Razael, the traitor?" Korath stood still in the middle of a forest far away from the academy itself. However, no one was around him, well, no one who was visible.
"I have a mission," a voice emerged from the darkness behind him, making the hair on the back of his neck stand. He instantly turned, however, he didn’t see anyone.
"What mission, Headmaster Marcus has to know if any of the dominant families interfere."
"I’m not here to interfere," another voice emerged, this time from next to him. All the words seemed to come from different directions. "I’m here to protect Master Klaus, sent by Klara Elisabeth von Alderstein."
As soon as he said that name, Korath’s body shook, his pupils dilated as every single hair on his body stood.
"I see, so she cares for his oldest son so much—"
"Wrong," Razael appeared before him this time, making him shudder again.
"Huh? If not for her oldest then..." Korath finally realised and his lips started twitching immediately.
"It’s for young master Klaus," Razael looked up at the night sky, and Korath followed his gaze.
"So she is willing to support a mage? That goes against the entire rules of house—"
"I don’t care what she is willing to do. Have you forgotten?" Their eyes met for a second, then Korath turned away.
"I will do anything my master wishes me to do," Razael’s determined voice left Korath shocked to the core. He wasn’t expecting anything like this.
"Yeah, you were always a loyal puppy, even back then, when we faced—"
"No," Razael covered his mouth, making him swallow back his sentences.
"I do not wish to remember my past, after what happened in that place, never again." His tone was dangerous now as a vein throbbed on his forehead from the anger and holding back to not rip off Korath’s lower third.
Korath lifted his hands off and bowed slightly. "I apologise, you are right..." He turned to a random tree as leaves kept falling around them, moonlight making his hair appear even darker than it was.
"Be good to the young master, Shadow Transfer." With that, Razael disappeared from in front of him, his trace of mana slowly erasing itself like he was never there to begin with.
"Ahh," Korath fell on his butt as the moonlight shone into his face. He looked down at his shaking hands and touched the ground just to make sure he was still alive and not hallucinating. "Still as scary as ever."
—
The next morning, Klaus woke up with a yawn, like nothing had happened the previous day.
However, in his memories, the torture kept replaying, making his hands shake slightly.
’I’m such a fucking weirdo,’ he sighed as he rubbed his wrist and looked at Jen, who was still sleeping soundly, her small body shuddering occasionally as he heard her small breaths.
Then, a ginormous ringing sound rang through the entire dormitory, followed by a voice he recognised, unfortunately.
"Headmaster Marcus here...." The voice seemed to crackle here and there as it continued, making Klaus clutch his ears. "Every student, come outside. We will begin the first day of the academy!"
