The night descended, and a few dim lights flickered, slightly illuminating this area that had just encountered a disaster.

Aurelia Shaw was so exhausted that her arms ached, and her legs could no longer move. She dragged her weary body down a rocky path when suddenly, there was someone standing in the shadows.

His face hidden in darkness, tall and imposing, with a wide black coat accentuating his sharp demeanor, his deep, dark eyes were fixed on her. Aurelia Shaw, squinting under the dim light, saw his face clearly.

She was slightly startled.

Mason Nightshade?

Why is he here?

Shouldn't he be in the hospital?

Mason Nightshade extended his hand to her, "Come here." His clear, mellow voice mingling with the wind blew over gently.

Aurelia Shaw walked towards him, her legs felt as if they were filled with lead, making it hard to move. A rock tripped her slightly, causing her to stagger, her arm was grasped by a hand, warm with a faint scent of lemon. Suddenly, Mason Nightshade bent down, his other hand swept under her knees and lifted her up.

Aurelia Shaw suddenly thought of his injuries, "Mason, put me down, I can walk on my own."

"Don't move," said Mason Nightshade.

Aurelia thought about it. Given Mason Nightshade's nature, he definitely wouldn't put her down, and struggling would only burden him further. Better to stay still, and wait for him to set her down himself.

Aurelia had thought that once they crossed the difficult part of the road, Mason Nightshade would put her down, but unexpectedly, he carried her all the way back to the tent area they were staying at.

"Hey, Mr. Nightshade, you're back." A disaster victim greeted him.

Mason Nightshade nodded to him.

Aurelia was surprised as, given Mason Nightshade's aloof nature, he would actually greet these people, and seemingly in a friendly manner.

"Found your wife." The man continued to talk to him.

Mason Nightshade nodded, his voice clear and refreshing as he said, "Found her, thank you for showing the way earlier."

The man waved his hand, "That's because your wife works so hard, running around rescuing people with the fire brigade, not resting for a whole day, hardly had anything for lunch, and she's so beautiful, with such a kind heart, she leaves quite an impression."

Mason Nightshade looked down at Aurelia Shaw, his brows furrowing, face darkening, "You didn't eat lunch?"

"I have a small appetite," Aurelia Shaw explained calmly.

Mason Nightshade would find it hard to believe such an excuse!

She had once become so engrossed in doing something that she hadn't eaten for two or three days, had the housekeeper not called him to come home for a meal, she wouldn't have even thought of eating.

Mason Nightshade set her down in the tent and turned to leave.

Aurelia Shaw looked around the tent, there was a backpack she had brought during the day, along with some clothes for changing.

The tents must have been assigned during the day.

But how did Mason Nightshade know she was staying here?

After a short while, Mason Nightshade came back, holding two packed meals, he opened them in front of her and said, "Eat."

Aurelia Shaw was astonished; the meals were actually warm.

In a place like this, having warm meals was almost impossible, especially past mealtime. Where did Mason Nightshade manage to get these two warm meals from?

"What are you thinking about? Hurry up and eat."

Mason Nightshade's voice pulled Aurelia Shaw back from her thoughts.

Aurelia Shaw glanced at him, took the chopsticks he handed over, and asked while eating, "Why are you here? What about your injuries…"

She glanced at his chest.

"Is it still hurting? Coming this far over to here, you really didn't pay any attention to your health at all? Junia Simpson didn't even stop you."
